I figured there was something stuck in the motor but I had no idea how to address that. I did some googling and changed the belt - which did not fix the problem. Right after I ordered a new vacuum cleaner, I found your video. That is my exact vacuum cleaner model. It’s about 10 years old but it was working fine until that loud squeal started out of nowhere. I took it all apart. I pulled the motor out. I’m no electrician but I am resourceful. I’m a widow trying to make it on my own and I fixed it. Thank you.
I want to thank you for making this video. Although my model is not this one, you showed me exactly what to look for and when I saw the video I knew this was exactly my problem too. So I went at it as you showed us and WOW, I'm back to using my great vacuuum once again. Couldn't have done that without you. Thanks so very much.
The removal of the base as shown at the 3:50 mark is unbelievable difficult. I can appreciate how an experienced person can separate it. I have an Airstream DC41 and I thought it was the same model as was shown....maybe that was the issue.
Those vacuums are so inexpensive they are impossible to get fixed unless someone like you is around. Good Fix! I've a very similar Eureka that has no power. I'm going to take it apart tomorrow and see if it is a switch or something easy. If it is the motor then another one will have to be purchased.
It is sad that they are made so cheap that labor to fix it is normally more than a new one. Maybe they need to engineer then to be taken apart faster to save labor for repairs
I do the same procedure on the thousand dollhairs worth of new looking vacuum cleaners that get from frogmarched to the curb each trash day. They call out to me, "Help , help , I've been terrible abused by people with no love and respect for machinery!" And think of the children who were forced to assemble them for Google pay. I put it on a table in the back yard, blow it clean with a leaf lower as I disassemble. Then I spray hot soapy dawn, quickly followed with hot water spray rinse and leaf lower dry. It's looking good as new and much more pleasant to repair.
PS I got one of my Allen/hex wrenches to fit those motor screws!! I have those multi pocket nice ones in both US in metric and one of them worked. I’ve had those for over 25 years from when my kids were learning how to ride their bikes …
Thank you so much for this! I took apart and interesting enough I didn't see any accumulation of dirt in the fan. After I emptied the dirt container and put together, the vacuum turned off seconds after I turned on. Then it wouldn't turn on. After 30 mins or so it turned on but gave a spark and turned off. It actually flipped the breaker for the room I started the vacuum in. If the motor looked good and there seemed to be no blockage, is there anything else I can check out? I'm afraid to start it up when it sparked the last time.
At this point, you need to find out what was sparking. If it is the wires, you may see melted insulation on them or black from the spark. If the motor is burning up, it could be sparking because of that. Motor could be replaced, wires can be repaired
@@EverydayJourney Thank you so much! After I cleaned around the motor and got some dirt fuzz out, I was able to start it up and didn't see a spark. Maybe the little bit of fuzz was the problem. I was just worried since it tripped my breaker but we'll see how it performs now.
If you have a multimeter, you can check the switch and then check for voltage at the motor. If not, just check for burnt wires or disconnected wires. Also see if your motor hums a little when you turn it on. If it does, there is a chance that the bearings are seized
You just took my vacuum cleaner maintenance to a whole new level. Beats buying a new one any day!
Instablaster.

Haven’t had one of those. I’ve found that a little patience goes a long way. Best of luck

Thank you so much! Omg I can hear myself think now lol. Turns out having a shaggy dog can really really REALLY clog your vacuum
Same brand different model, worked like a charm. Thank you!
Clad to help. Have a great day

Thank you so very much for this. I have the same model and your tutorial helped so much!

I love the memories that come back when you grab one of the old tools.

You’d say that even if it wasn’t. How you been?
Great video

Do a repair on a bissell vacuum
Nice tips and tricks
Thanks. I’ll be happy to hear when someone can fix a similar one instead of wasting money on a new one
Mine doesn’t turn on. I heard it want to start, but nothing after that initial micro start, after plugging in.
The cyclone is put in upside down. This caused dust to get in the motor making it sound like shit.
Thanks. Great video. Thank you.
My goal is to help. Thanks for watching
I loved this video!
Thanks, and thanks for watching
How to replace on and off switch
Thank you so much!
Glad you liked it. Did you have the same problem
My vacuum is the same as this one and it won't turn on. Can you give me an advise of what can be wrong with it.

Also, try a different outlet. Just in case it’s a problem with your outlet
It's stil plugged in when he's Messing with the motor
Sometimes we all do crazy things. This doesn’t even make the top 100 list
why is mine blowing dirt out??
If it is missing a filter, it could happen. Also it could happen if a filter got dislodged long enough for dust to pass by.
