SpaceX's new water cooled steel plates might be the perfect solution to prevent Starship from destroying the Launch Pad!
For this system to work it will need a drastically upgraded foundation in order to prevent the same outcome from occurring again.
In this deep dive investigation we will examine the step by step process for completing the massive upgrades to the foundation of the Orbital Launch Mount.

Last but not least I want to give HUGE SHOUTOUT to the entire CSI Starbase team on discord. This dedicated team of 200+ agents with specialties ranging all across the board, has been crucial in getting the most accurate info for these episodes. Couldn't do it without yal! - Наука та технологія
The only problem I have with your channel is that you always leave me wanting more. You and your team are awesome. Thank you.
Damn lol I’ll try to work on that. Want folks to leave satisfied
There is one more problem. The peak music levels frequently are high enough to pose a real comprehension problem, unless one is already well enough versed in the background technicalities of the mount-base's static engineering issues.
I will second that. I always seems like an eternity between episodes because of that. I love Timm Dodd, but Zach Golden and CSI Starbase is the best out there right now.
@@CSIStarbaseIt’s not you it’s the program lmao. You cover the program so well that it makes us which there was more of the program for you to cover
@@CSIStarbase When is someone going to *SHOW* the test plate ???
I can't get enough of these videos. This is one of those channels where you don't mind if the content isn't weekly cause it's THAT good. Great job, Zach!
Thank you! We are trying to release these episodes more frequently but its a bit difficult cuz we like like to wait for stories to develop as much as possible before discussing them
And that’s why I love your videos. Thank you for not prioritising publishing speed over actual content. Too much of UA-cam is a “race to be first” rather than delivering informed, analysed information. Your focus on the latter over the former is to be admired and I hope you get rewarded for it.
@@CSIStarbasecould you please start promoting upcoming videos. I have been waiting for this specific topic to be covered by you but by the time your video comes public interest has waned because of n number of useless channels making crap vids. Might get more views is all I am saying. Cheers keep on the great work.
I wish they did some shorter videos throughout the week
💯 I hate video's that's over 15/20 minutes, but I could easily watch zach for an hour because he's full of information and different perspectives. He's so good
Bro, how do you make such great videos in just 2 weeks? All of the research, editing, and scripting for a 25-minute technical video in just 2 weeks is God tier. Great job, man.
Thank you! It’s not easy but I’m trying to get faster with them.
@CSIStarbase You're welcome, man. Your hard work shows.
I think he is on Elon time.
@@CSIStarbase oh man… I don’t think anyone wants you to be faster. I personally prefer your quality over higher quantity. Quality = ✅
@@carlo-laitanoabsolutely agree. His videos by far are some of the best.
Best civil engineering project video I’ve seen you’d think Zack actually built this himself, it’s amazing that he has this level of detail from the outside, can’t wait for part two
Rapid unplanned but not unexpected excavation.
What he said - thanks for all the effort to make this, appreciate it👍
Of you think this is the best civil engineering project then you havent seen shit lol!!!! That's like kinder Garden compared to alot of other projects lol!!!!! This is nothing special!
It hasn't even started yet and I already love it.
Love the CSI deep dives, looking forward to this one. Many thanks to you, Zack, and your CSI team.
CGI team.
CSI Starbase proves that if the quality of the content is this high the length of the video is a non issue. Bravo.
You nailed it. This was the "How It's Made" for the Stage 0 deluge system. That was incredible reporting.
OMG! - Zach, you and the team of contributors at CSI Starbase are creating content that is nothing short of spectacular!!! Thank you so much for the amazing in-depth look you give to us!!!
I'll admit that I've been speculating about the water cooled steel plate ever since the first launch. Your civil engineering expertise has set the record straight. Thanks a lot Zack and I look forward to part 2.
Saw your tweet and rushed over here with popcorn and a drink only to realize I have to wait for the premiere. Guess I am eating two bags of popcorn.
With all the garbage channels out there it gets hard to find good information. This is one of the most underrated high-quality channels dealing with Starship. Keep up the awesome work mate.
Love how far your show has come in just a year. Your editing, info gathering, and your on camera self is just 👌🏼 👏
Watching this live from France, so it's 2.00 am for me..... damn I'm a nerd !
Also, another great investigation, so thanks, and keep it up !
Thanks for staying up late to watch!
Zach does a great job of communicating semi-complex issues clearly so everyone who takes the time to watch/listen can benefit.
I've learned more about engineering and construction from CSI Starbase, than anything in my entire life. So cool
Awesome stuff, and quick simulation of the massive plate. Well done Zack and RH and team
Zack, CSI Starbse is THE premier channel for engineering functional detail of all things Starbase! No one else comes close. I'm shocked that you only have 50 K subs given the quality of your presentations in both the extraordinary video/rendering details and the clarity of your perfectly articulated scripts. I will rejoin the ranks of the working in the next couple of weeks and will become a patron with receipt of that first bank transfer. Thanks to you, Ryan Hansen, and the rest of your team for the insping coverage! You Rock!
To see this Program with a deep and in-debt analysis is something new that no other channels will be able to do. Most are speculations and mundane events of spaceflight, but this one caught me with keen interest.
Thank you!
Thanks for these videos, we appreciate them
This is a very impressive and thorough explanation of the upgrade of Stage 0. Looking forward to part 2.
Any day there's a new upload on this channel is a good day. Like SpaceX, Zack makes stuff look easy, and stuff's not easy folks.
Agree. Sadly, for me, there are only 5 all across UA-cam that are worth a subscription; this is one of them.
You're right, they make blowing up stupid useless rockets look very easy. In fact, they pretty confirm that as long as you have lots of money, you can even spit in the governments face and blow up stupid useless rockets whenever you want!
Lol!!!!! Everything is possible when you have diesel trucks and véhicules that can run literally 24/7 unlike electric cars! That's nothing special here!
SpaceX definitely doesn't make what they do look easy, as they continue failing at it.
I ignored everything happening at the LC for two months and now I'm completely caught up. As long as you keep this up I can continue to ignore the LC until fun stuff starts happening.
Amazing video Zach. I am a retired structural engineer, with a lot of piled foundation experience. Brings back a lot of memories, thank-you for such amazing content. Cheers from Canada.
Excellent, Zack. Great work!
Thanks, Zach, for putting together a shorter but thorough episode, including last minute revelations. I look forward to your Part 2 deep dive into the further developments.
Dude absolutely incredible! I don’t know if you hear this much but the fact that you define things BEFORE you go into the incredible detail of the updates so your audience actually can understand what’s going on is amazing. Thank you and never stop!
Subscribed now.
Well, I know what I’m watching this evening. 🙂
This video was freaking awesome. I'm surprised your channel is about Starbase and not structural engineering. Great job!
It is awesome to see how all those small clips from various other sources are combined into one, making it all clear as water to understand! Love your work! And btw, the intro tune is amazing!!
I work in the concrete industry. Your numbers check out. Those look like 11 yard capacity mixers. In my experience, on a big job like this, they're typically loaded with 10 yards or 7.6 cubic meters. 132 truck loads works out to 1320 yards, or 1009 cubic meters. (we typically don't use the metric measurement). Not a massive pour by industry standards, but pretty big. Lately, my relatively small company has been doing 400-600 yard pours almost daily for a large customer in our area.
Love these deep dives. You always seem to have information and knowledge nobody else has.
Zach... I've watched so much of your content, but this is one stands out. Very well done. Thank you!
This channel deserves way more subs than it has, it is easily some of the best coverage of what SpaceX is up to with Starship. Everything very well explained and very high production values with great supporting graphics.
I really look forward to your videos, thank you once again - you did not disappoint
WOW!! Great presentation!! Thanks to this awesome correlation/colab massive effort!
An impressively detailed, smart, and visually informative report. A lot of other channels lack the graphics to backup the description. You deliver the raw and often boring civics in a way that everyone can understand. Just brilliant!
Thank you for this great video. At this point, the OLM is 'the' critical piece and I'm so happy that I found your video. I've been waiting for a detailed, objective deep dive on the process of rebuilding the OLM. I now understand the engineering that was built into OLM 2.0 - Keep up the great work!
Holy, how have I not seen this channel, it's so in depth, easily understandable and all visually represented with 3D animations. Keep it up, I'm subbed!
Outstanding job, dude... these videos are EPIC in their detail & scope of explaining everything that was done since 4/20! Very impressive work, from SpaceX and YOU, Zack!!
Stumbled across this channel...OMG such fantastic content, really well presented and even more importantly really easy to follow and understand..great job!
Congrats on reaching 50K! You do such a great job of explaining to us non-engineers and non-construction people what is really going on.
An excellent video. The
content was new,
original, and very specific.
I enjoyed your video greatly.
Not old news, or reposted
news.
GREAT JOB !
Great content, guys, and congrats on 50k subscribers.
just subscribed - amazing work - very clear and informative
Another video that is frankly .... quite stunning. It is amazing how much incredible footage and wonderful renders the people in the Starship-watching community generate and your skill and knowledge in focussing on specific aspects of the overall project and pulling all of that stuff together, plus your own insights, to create such detailed and informative deep dives is really impressive.
I have to stop saying more good things about your content now because I'm running out of different superlatives to use.
Just found your channel in April, love the content! Great job telling the story Zach. Really high production value. Ryan's animations are excellent. Thanks for putting this all together in an engaging way.
Amazing content, earned subscription!
Keep going dude!
It is incredible what you can find out looking at the clues when you know your stuff. It's a privilege to watch.
Very well put together as usual Zack, Geoff, & Team. Thanks #TeamSpace for all the coverage!
great work! looking forward to part 2.
Great detail. Answered a lot of my questions. I just subscribed.
As a Civil Engineer who's first Project was a wastewater treatment plant when just a newly minted engineer this vid is very refreshing. Just subbed
Wow. Amazing video and as I am watching this they are getting ready to roll out the center plate. Freaking awesome!
Just stumbled across your channel. I'm into SpaceX & construction so really love the quality of your production - excellent content. Just a little "Thank you!" Keep up the great work.
Hey, I just came across your channel. I enjoyed your virtual Starbase Boardroom set as well as your particular way of really getting across the construction techniques and engineering methodology used without getting into the weeds at all! Truly top-tier results. And last but not least, energizing synth tracks, lol. Subbed!
Outstanding information brought to us at a level that is *_not_*_ dumbed-down_ and _*not* read by somebody who can't even pronounce his text copy.
You do *_great work._* Thanks!
The biggest issue now,it's the power of the engines push the water back and the water vapor exploding the metal plates.
Rocketry truly is a balance of pressures in every sense huh
this is why they are using High pressure Nitrogen to feed the pad, it allows them to regulate water pressure in a timely manner.
@@bebopandopple, perfectly captureed.
I've seen 16 bar cited as stagnation pressure in some earlier video by CSI Starbase. That is a lot of pressure, but it's not extreme pressure. We will see how this works when they do a Water deluge system test. I want to see the worlds largest schower head in action too.
@@bebopandoppleIf I remember correctly Von Braun said that there is a fine line between a rocket and a bomb. The finer the line, the better the rocket.
Hi, new subscriber, as I found your input amazing. Thanks for all the info- cant wait for pt 2
1:46 that was smooth with the engine light up effect. 😮
In one single video you have totally solved all of the water deluge and steel plate mysteries. Great job! How was I not already subscribed? I am now. Fantastically detailed content!
Not even close.
@@DiahRhiaJonesAnd you know this how professor? So many trolls that think because they can turn on their phone or boil water without burning it they can toss out foundationless criticism. Me thinks you should go back to watching cartoons and girly body painting vids and and leave this type of content to the adults.
This is the first of your videos I've watched. I appreciate the clear and well explained info. Also really like your virtual news desk format. Subscribed!
Thank you! It’s not a virtual desk though! Our headquarters is based in the Starbase Highbay #1 😉
The production and info on these videos is absolutely amazing. Subscribed.
Awesome video! Subscribed immediately!
I learned more than I thought watching this. In areas I didn’t expect to be mentioned, great job dude. Keep it coming!
Great investigating work. It’s always a pleasure to watch your analysis.
Thank you and please keep it up
Regards
Dude! I gotta say that I REALLY like your videos!!!
Clear and concise without a lot of fanfare!
Thanks!!!
Amazing video Zach! Thank you for bringing all this info to us :D
I'm six hours late on watching this, but you have already achieved 50k. Congratulations! 🥳 I like to think of CSI Starbase as being for the elite Starship fans anyway. 😉
Another great bit of investigation Zack, and team CSI Starbase.
The renders make thing so much clearer with this monstrosity of a jigsaw puzzle.
Keep up the fantastic work.
🙂💜🚀🌈
Top quality. Well done, subscribed.
This is soooo interesting. It must have taken a lot of time to investigate and analyze all available footage. The level of detail and information is beyond words. Very well done! I learned a lot from watching your videos.
As always, this is excellent and high quality information, thank you for that
By far the best deep dive SpaceX content around, always worth the wait. Thanks for all the hard work and effort 👏🏾
Well done, as always! Really excited for part 2!
Very well done. Looking forward to Part 2 to see what other information you have been able to get on all this and how its all going to play out in the end.
I'm in awe of the hard work you guys do, and how clear and professional the presentation is. Phenomenal work.
These videos are so good. I love the level of detail, both in what you are talking about and how you explain it. Seriously impressive production values.
Grate video as always 👍
You got over 50K. Congrats🎉🎉
Was waiting for exactly this video! Nice
Seems like a solid design and a HUGE improvement. Great video as always, Zach.
Unbelievable amount of work done…
Best coverage around thanks
Congrats on 50K! And well earned - this video was amazing! Thanks for all the explanations for everything. It was exactly what I've been looking for wondering what in the world was going on underneath the launch mount!
Awesome video!! Thank You for your hard work..
Yet again, you go way beyond everyone else covering the construction at SpaceX. Your attention to detail is greatly appreciated. Wow doesn’t even express how excited I am to learn what’s going on at a higher level because of CSI Starbase. Thank you!!
this channel is my favorite way to keep up with the progress at starbase. Thanks Zach (and team)!
Thank you!
Excellent content. Very informative due to obvious detailed research. Thanks for sharing. I’m pleased to have stumbled across your video. Blessings y’all.
Love your videos, brother, very informative. Thank you for taking the time!
Look forward to another great episode Zack.
I've been waiting for your clear explanation of how all the work we've been watching will tie together. Thanks for doing most of the thinking for us! Special thanks to Ryan Hansen. This would be soooo hard to explain without his illustrations.
Awesome video Zack!!! Extremely informative!!
Fantastic video! I look forward to each of your videos as you do an excellent job of explaining the current state of Starship and Starbase. Thank you!!
Best SpaceX Deep Dives!
The placement of that primary cooling plate reminds me of trying to squeeze furniture through a too small door
Great video - VERY informative!
Outstanding job on the video!
Wow, you never fail to impress! That's the best description of the progress so far and really shows the level of care SpaceX is putting into the, as you call it, Stage zero 2.0. Fantastic work, kudos.
This is so much better than many starship news programs. I really appreciate your insight and expertise, Zach.
Very good content, nice presentation, fantastic 3D graphics, subbed
Great work mate!
Outstanding comprehensive reports that you and your team create. Your engineering background really shines through and I much appreciate the level of detail. Keep up the excellent work!👍🙂
