Hi, not sure what I did wrong. I'm making a society6 banner and I only wanted the texture inside a smaller section of the banner, rectangle cream color shape but it covered the whole banner. I only had the rectangle selected, not sure what I did wrong? Also, I'm a newbie to Photoshop. Thank you.
Same, I tried to keep the gritty texture to a small selection, but it kept doing the whole picture.
For both you & @Rocks' Reviews & Reactions : Ah, there's a simple fix for this.
1) In the Layers Panel, grab the texture-layer, and place it directly above the item you want to use the texture with (we'll call that the "target-layer").
2) Now, hover your mouse between the texture-layer, and the target-layer, holding down the ALT-key, on your keyboard. The cursor on the screen should show a downward arrow.
3) Click the cursor, and you've made the texture layer fit into the target layer's clipping mask.
Also, you can do this using the Layers Menu. (But, it's always handy to know the keyboard shortcuts.)
1) In the Layers Panel, grab the texture-layer, and place it directly above the item you want to use the texture with (we'll call that the "target-layer").
2) Click on the Layers menu-button.
3) Scroll down to the option titled, "Create Clipping Mask."
Hope that helps. All the best, my friends.

Thank you very much! We were able to fix that, but this is still helpful information.
