i admire you so much for having the curiosity to explore (and becoming very well-versed) in many different art mediums and practices. can't wait to see more!!
the way it cuts to you with no gloves, and a disclamer to not do what you're doing, to you suddenly wearing safety gloves, to you not wearing gloves again with a band-aid on your finger 😭😭😭
You know, safety gloves are a mid to late 20th century concept. For thousands of years, people were just careful and patient. Edit: And kept their tools in proper working order.
You inspire me so much. I love that you don't stick to one, single medium - not that sticking to one medium is bad - what works, works. I just love that you're out there trying new things...it makes me want to do the same :D
My favourite part was the warning to Always wear gloves, and then zooming out, we see a nice big scar on the pointer finger 😅 I’ve definitely been there 😂
Hi, i ddont know if this matters to you. But i saw a short where they used some of your footage from this and another video for the background of the voiceover and in the thumbnail. Channel "Bella Quiz", can't link the video but the title of the short is "AITAH for telling my father's widow that she needs to live somehwere else?". Thought id let you know.
This just reminded me of the movie Surf's Up, when they carve the surfboards, it was so relaxing to watch haha. I loooove your videos and your art!! xo
The woodcarving was beautiful and I could almost smell the wood. I love that you try different things! But the lino cutting and prints just fills my heart with joy
I really enjoyed your videos, you are one of the few artists on You tube who show your excellent craftsmanship, the different art mediums and practices that you explore and you are very talented and great. Happy new year. Thanks for sharing.❤😊🎉
been watching your videos since i was in junior highschool & now i'm in my college years... never fails to amaze me with your creativity in arts ❤ thank u for making me trying out painting back then, always love your arts and videos ❤❤
fun fact: this is actually a good learning video on how to widdle, yeah i know that most of us (and me) are here to sleep but still it's nice to see that you are using all the right safety measures in order to keep all 5 fingers on both your hands, good job.👍
pure delicate compassion and generosity are things i’ve needed to encompass within myself for a long while :( see, i consider my family members and friends, but i don’t do this for myself like i should… for instance: actually completing things in time and doing things long-term. (new things, not the same old :’)) anywho, i came here to thank you for yet another beautiful video! :) it’s been a tired and lazy week off from school due to snow, but i think i’ll be ok ❤
Wow!❤🤩 Just found your channel and subscribed! I just love everything I saw you doing so far. You're truly an inspiration for me!🙏 Kisses from Portugal!🇵🇹 ❤️ I wish you all the best, and thanks for sharing your art!🙏

having craved a bit before... you might find it easier to push the blade with the thumb that is holding the knife, in an arcing motion (rotating your wrist almost), that way all of the force is controlled and your hand doesnt move at all when carving, it limits the blade travel distance significantly because the only part of either hand that is moving is your thumb, causing the knife to rotate.
I saw the little bandaid on your finger, I know getting injuries is unavoidable, especially in carving, but I hope you’re okay! Your work is beautiful and it inspires me to pursue art again too!
Thank you for the video. This looks like a lot of effort. I'm actually thinking about linoleum carving for stamps to use with a bullet journal. Like smileys for the mood or the forms for habit trackers and such. I probably wouldn't try something like a card anytime soon, but it's an interesting possibility. Best wishes from europe
my first trials with carving were with those stamp making kits that have rubber circles u can stick on a handle to stamp them with (i just use the circle as is pressed with my hand) i either used the circle's shape or carved it out completely to only leave the symbol i wanted i think they r about 4-5cm wide in diameter so not too small but also not very big, so it can be challenging for those who have a hard time with small surfaces the kit came with a small box of 5 blades that arent the best of the best quality, but can be used quite finely for small areas once u get used to controlling the pressure dont hesitate to put strength into ur movements when u wanna carve out a whole area!! going deeper helps u dig the blade into the material in a way that carves out more surface, and helps u save time its all about control, so for ur first stamps id recommend easy geometrical shapes ive tried moons and stars, as well as a little spiky dinosaur, which helped me figure out how i carve straight lines and easy curves my more challenging stamp was with a motif inspired by ancient greco-roman death motifs, with a small simplified bull skull with a ribbon going from the top of the circle + two small, narrow vases the circle was too small for me to carve out precisely, as well as the gum being too soft to do so, but i still like it i moved on to small linoleum rectangles that i would cut in half and make tiny cards i want to make greeting cards and i've already made one!! it came out nice since im a perfectionist and tend to spend a lot of time on small details (obviously u dont have to do that) that greeting card is the size of half an a4 paper sheet tho, and i spent a lot of time defining the small shapes, and on these bigger surfaces u have to carve out rly deeply in small nooks and crannies if u want them to be crisp on the edges same goes for surfaces that r carved out completely, which sometimes r cut out completely!! my card has a window in the middle that we just roughly cut out the inside with, otherwise when pressed, the board inside that space could be pressed with the motif and leave a mark of course u can also play with that!! another friend of mine left out some of them on purpose and decided not to define her shapes as precisely as i did bc it gave a more traditional look to them, like a drawing using a thick pen a friend of mine told me i could heat up the linoleum with a hairdryer because it tends to harden and can crack if u carve out small sections and the thinness of the board makes it so u can bend it (some parts of my greeting card r like this but it ended up not affecting the shape since its such a small area) i would recommend first starting with soft materials to carve as linoleum can be quite tiring on the wrists!! even with small boards ive had sore wrists/arms and also doing exercises and taking breaks helps i also recommend getting a good roller and u can roll out ur ink on a smooth surface like a plastic board (my friend uses those transparent plastic sheets for files that she tapes onto somewhere) and u need ink also!! i managed to find a cheap one (12€ if i remember correctly) and since im a beginner im fine with that for now i also got clips to tie my prints to a string for when they dry i also use transparent paper (i dont know the name in english) to draw and trace the image i want to carve out also dont hesitate to carve on elevated surfaces like she did, it can help u not be slouched down and not be tensed on ur muscles i used a board under my lineoleum since i dont have boards attached to them like she does, but i think u can use a cutting mat (u know the ones that r green with a grid on them) im not sure if that helps but these r things that r helpful to me and i hope it can be for u too!! have fun with carving 💫💫 ps: im also from europe, as im sure u have guessed, so u might find materials i found too
@@melowlw8638 Well, I'm still figuring out how I want my bullet journal to look like, so carving stamps already is too soon. To be honest, I found this a little too much info... Not sure where to start with that... It mainly sounds like "you can buy this and this and that..." to me. Personally I prefer to use what I already have, if possible. I found that being creative with the tools I already have, requires more creativity, but also trains the creativity better. I admit that buying new tools to try out new things is more fun. But I tend to just use a kit in the way it was intended and not change around all that much. Maybe you have more success with new tools. I'm just saying it doesn't seem to be the right approach for me. Part of it is, to be honest, also a very tight budget right now, so there is that. Have fun carving too.
i have the same knifes and gloves! i only wish i had acces to buy soft wood, i normaly get sticks of trees that were cut around here, they are hard as fuck 🤧
These came out so lovely 💛 What resources did you use to learn? I started carving last year (I guess now it’s the year before last) and ended up setting it aside to focus on school, but now it feels like I’m starting all over lol
this has been so soothing and meditative. thank you for sharing another wonderful process. May i know what is the name of the paint pallette you are using however? is it ceramic?
Are you left or right handed? When you were carving I noticed how you held the wood and I tried to imagine myself holding it (I’m left handed) and I feel like I’d hold it the same way you do if that makes sense 😂 by the way I love your dedication and the variety of crafts you do! I’m an artist aswell, I do sculpture and traditional art/digital so yeah I hope I can try out wood carving soon aswell! 🤍🤍🤍
your product link is for balsa wood but subtitle says “basswood,” which one are you using? Balsa is extremely soft and easy to cut also easily available
i admire you so much for having the curiosity to explore (and becoming very well-versed) in many different art mediums and practices. can't wait to see more!!
everytime i come across your videos its like you're finishing side quests and upgrading your skill tree. i love it i love you this is so cool
Paint making, paper making, book binding and now this 😮 on top of being massively talented as an artist and a content creator
She isn’t just an artist. She is THE artist. A real craftsperson.
I love the variety of art that you do! Your videos inspire me to try something different from my usual. 🧡
the way it cuts to you with no gloves, and a disclamer to not do what you're doing, to you suddenly wearing safety gloves, to you not wearing gloves again with a band-aid on your finger 😭😭😭

I almost had a stroke reading this💀

my brain hurts trying to read this istg
I had a stroke trying to read this.

thank you for doing these videos. They have become a sort of escapist activity for me. I cant imagine the labor of love and effort it requires.
my toxic trait is sharpening a few colored pencils with an xacto knife and thinking "i could 100% whittle wood"
This just reminded me of the movie Surf's Up, when they carve the surfboards, it was so relaxing to watch haha. I loooove your videos and your art!! xo
You're such a talented, passionate, and skillful artist. I love all the videos you posted. So relaxing and inspiring.

You inspire me so much as an artist!! I need to buy carving tools now lmao
Carving is so much fun! But definitely get some cut resistant gloves, especially when learning!
Fine I’ll be the one to say it! The carving reminds me of when SpongeBob scrapes his teeth across the chocolate bar in that one episode
makes me miss my ap art class- exploring and getting to use a lot of different art forms, like using a linoleum block...i had a lot of fun with that
been watching your videos since i was in junior highschool & now i'm in my college years... never fails to amaze me with your creativity in arts ❤ thank u for making me trying out painting back then, always love your arts and videos ❤❤
These creations are all so magical. Just looking at them makes me feel good inside ❤️❤️❤️
Well I guess I now have to spend all my money on wood carving bcs that looked so fun and relaxing!!! I love it
your videos are so good for when i do art or journal!!
I love all your handmade items. You are very talented.

I love the little Morning Dove and Pigeon ❤️
This will get a lot of replays. It helps me sleep. I already downloaded it.
your videos always come out exactly when i need them

You have been keeping many lost art skills alive and that's very cool. Incredibly skilled person💕
These sounds are so good for sleeping. Thanks.
i love the little surfs up reference in the description :D
So charming! I've always wanted to try this craft, and I've had carving tools and wood bits lying around for ages. Maybe this is my year to start!

How do you decide You're gonna carve wood? How do you come up with such ideas? Just wondering! What inspired you?
Aah! I’ve been waiting for a new video!! 🩵
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS YESSS I LOVE SEEING IR INSTA
thank you so much.
Amazing!😮
The wood stencils were cool. Ever use them to decorate the inside page of a book you made?
Thank you for the video.

my first trials with carving were with those stamp making kits that have rubber circles u can stick on a handle to stamp them with (i just use the circle as is pressed with my hand) i either used the circle's shape or carved it out completely to only leave the symbol i wanted
i think they r about 4-5cm wide in diameter so not too small but also not very big, so it can be challenging for those who have a hard time with small surfaces
the kit came with a small box of 5 blades that arent the best of the best quality, but can be used quite finely for small areas once u get used to controlling the pressure
dont hesitate to put strength into ur movements when u wanna carve out a whole area!! going deeper helps u dig the blade into the material in a way that carves out more surface, and helps u save time
its all about control, so for ur first stamps id recommend easy geometrical shapes
ive tried moons and stars, as well as a little spiky dinosaur, which helped me figure out how i carve straight lines and easy curves
my more challenging stamp was with a motif inspired by ancient greco-roman death motifs, with a small simplified bull skull with a ribbon going from the top of the circle + two small, narrow vases
the circle was too small for me to carve out precisely, as well as the gum being too soft to do so, but i still like it
i moved on to small linoleum rectangles that i would cut in half and make tiny cards
i want to make greeting cards and i've already made one!! it came out nice since im a perfectionist and tend to spend a lot of time on small details (obviously u dont have to do that) that greeting card is the size of half an a4 paper sheet tho, and i spent a lot of time defining the small shapes, and on these bigger surfaces u have to carve out rly deeply in small nooks and crannies if u want them to be crisp on the edges
same goes for surfaces that r carved out completely, which sometimes r cut out completely!! my card has a window in the middle that we just roughly cut out the inside with, otherwise when pressed, the board inside that space could be pressed with the motif and leave a mark
of course u can also play with that!! another friend of mine left out some of them on purpose and decided not to define her shapes as precisely as i did bc it gave a more traditional look to them, like a drawing using a thick pen
a friend of mine told me i could heat up the linoleum with a hairdryer because it tends to harden and can crack if u carve out small sections and the thinness of the board makes it so u can bend it (some parts of my greeting card r like this but it ended up not affecting the shape since its such a small area)
i would recommend first starting with soft materials to carve as linoleum can be quite tiring on the wrists!! even with small boards ive had sore wrists/arms
and also doing exercises and taking breaks helps
i also recommend getting a good roller and u can roll out ur ink on a smooth surface like a plastic board (my friend uses those transparent plastic sheets for files that she tapes onto somewhere)
and u need ink also!! i managed to find a cheap one (12€ if i remember correctly) and since im a beginner im fine with that for now
i also got clips to tie my prints to a string for when they dry
i also use transparent paper (i dont know the name in english) to draw and trace the image i want to carve out
also dont hesitate to carve on elevated surfaces like she did, it can help u not be slouched down and not be tensed on ur muscles
i used a board under my lineoleum since i dont have boards attached to them like she does, but i think u can use a cutting mat (u know the ones that r green with a grid on them)
im not sure if that helps but these r things that r helpful to me and i hope it can be for u too!! have fun with carving 💫💫
ps: im also from europe, as im sure u have guessed, so u might find materials i found too

Lol I tried to do some wood working without gloves and I too had a bandaid in that exact same spot
Finally after long time on UA-cam 😍
excellent 👏🏻😍
Great work for the video. UA-cam not so much. Playing loud adds in the middle of a relaxing ASMR video.
i have the same knifes and gloves! i only wish i had acces to buy soft wood, i normaly get sticks of trees that were cut around here, they are hard as fuck 🤧
Freaking mood…just got some ash wood from a downed tree…It’s beautiful but so hard! My hands hurt after!
The bandages along the way 🥲 hope they were only past wounds
When is a new video coming out? ✨🥰
i have the same beaver carving knives
