This video was delayed by a few days since UA-cam wouldn't process it. I had to upload it three times. Hope you enjoy and the horror mods will be continuing into November because of this 🎃
Hey Miky D, glad to see your back to checking out horror mods. I left a couple suggestions for you last year, but I figured I mention the main one again here. You should look into *The Oubliette* a mod that may be found over on the *TES Alliance* web site. It's a halloween themed mod that was made as a collaboration between a bunch of different modders. Its really great, loads of content of varying quality, and I think it would be really up your alley. Also sorry for grafting onto your pinned comment.
The Skull Puzzle was challenging but I figured out how to do it on my run thru of the game. Each Rib is supposed to go into a specific coffin and stay there (Skull Shows Up). But if you put all the ribs in the coffin it reads it like the right rib is the coffin, since it is, but script never removes the skull if the rib is removed. Best way to do this is to take one rib and systemically place it in a coffin till the skull appears and then you leave there and go to the next rib, skipping over the coffin with the skull on it.

I wonder if that visual mod was supposed to affect that Minotaur. Being named “the seer” and just being a headless mino with a pair of floating eyes seemed so fitting I didn’t question it!
I'm fairly certain a few of those last spooky things were in reference to dementia and other similar conditions. The story about the wizard who had the fog over him sounds really similar to the degeneration of the mind and moments of lucidity that come with those disorders, and the line "it's just a burning memory" at the end is word for word the title of the opening track to The Caretaker's Everywhere at the End of Time, which is an entire concept album about dementia.
1:31 You nailed it with that feeling you get in Oblivion how it feels "off". I never really thought about it until you brought it up, but it makes so much sense. I remember back to being immersed playing it and it gave me some weird vibes.
Many games from the late 2000s in general give off that feeling, likely due to a sort of graphical uncanny valley where environments are designed to be realistic and immersive 3D worldspaces, but less sophisticated hardware made it so that textures had to be downscaled and world clutter cut down upon in order to make the game performance-friendly on most devices.
Yeah I remember getting that feeling on day one of me playing back in like 2009. I just walked round the corner on the tutorial dungeon-and that zombie made me jump out of my skin. Tbf I was eight but yeah
My interpretation of the end scene: It still takes place in The Void, but after leaving the house having slain the lich dude you have finally followed him down the path he took to get to his ascension. He's achieved what Vivec would call Amaranth. He's detached himself from the world of Nirn/Mundus and made his own realm. His own little heaven, a peaceful reward for his life's work. A place where a skeleton can just lay back and enjoy the sun without anything complicated going on. A place where he's more the world itself than his body, and thus why the tree is what speaks to you. The Tree is called Rebirth after all.
really great mod in terms of gamedesign and atmosphere. Good to know that oblivion still has such talented and devoted mod community. Caretaker reference was completely unexpected
Oblivion doesn’t need a horror mod that game freaked me the hell out when I was younger I remember what it was like coming up on kvatch and watching the sky turn red it took me forever to convince myself to run inside the gate.
The funny thing is that the glitched (?) zombies with only hands and heads visible in the forest are legit more creepy than "The Wolf". I believe it is due to their twitchy movement, which is also a thing in games like Cry of Fear or Afraid of Monsters (HL1 horror mods, high quality ones). This jittery movement freaks people out, me included.
I heartily recommend the "Dungeons of Ivellon" mod. It´s a pretty old one, but certainly one of the best designed ones and at times legitimately scary.
What works for this mod is that the creator grasped tension. All those times you thought 'somethings going to happen, something's going to jump out' and it didn't just wound up the tension. There were very few moments of 'relief' where the tension is gone by a monster attack or a scare.
Exactly! And so many creators, be it games, movies, or whatever, don't understand that and just throw jumpscares at you. But if they're spaced out, kept apart, you expect the spook to happen, but there is none, you stay with that tension.
Props for reading the books aloud for us-it’s so cool to see the amount of work that went into not just the atmospheric design but also the writing for this mod.
The ending reminded me of a mod I've installed way back when, think in 2008, give or take. It was an anvil-style house set on its own little island away from the city, but still in the worldspace meaning you could see the city and such. It had friendly mudcrabs and I think to remember that it even had lemon or orange juice as an item strewn about the house. It was such a nice and serene place to be, I loved it so much. Can't find it anymore though, probably lost to time by now. Wow I actually found it lol, but it's German. It's on Planetoblivion called Mein Strandhaus (My Breachhouse translated), released in 2007. Might try and make a translation.
I am always blown away by how far your channel has blown up every time I pay attention to the sub count. It's well deserved laddy. Another banger as always.
People put too much emphasis on Subscribers and how many others have got. With huge subs comes corporate involvement and money which makes channels go rubbish and commercialised. Hopefully Micky won’t go down this road and start featuring sponsors and have his episodes scripted by a production company. Quality over quantity
If you're in the mood for more spooky stuff. You should try this game: "Vampire the masquarade: bloodlines". Its a very good action rpg from 2004 and there's an unofficial patch that was just updated last week that will run the game in 1080p 60fps
Hey MickeyD! Regarding your question: "Can something in Oblivion jumpscare you?" definitely yes! Do you remember the Letter of Recommendation quest for the Mages Guild in Leyawiin? There is this really scary looking mage by the name of Kalthar. In addition to his weird looks, he has strange behavior and lives in the basement of the Leyawiin Mages Guild. In any case, in the quest you have to retrieve an artifact and you have to go to Fort Blueblood and at the end of the dungeon you will find a coffin containing said relic. And for me, when I played this quest for the first time after I collected the object, suddenly this Kalthar was behind me and faced me. That aspect and his facial expression scared me so much that I actually cried out xD. I had to take a short break before I could continue. Well, I get scared easily and the atmosphere in Oblivion Dungeons is always pretty dark anyway (music too). Also, I was 16 then, I'm 20 now, but I still remember it when I play this quest. At least that was my experience with Oblivion Jumpscare.
The horror design is perfect: things are uncanny rather than jump scary. Stuff like off looking but almost normal models and sounds, and surreal imagery
It was a beautiful mod and a very good use of Oblivion assets. If you want more Micky there's another great horror mod for Oblivion that came out not long ago if I'm not mistaken it's called "Shroud Over Stalrous Manor" and it looks great.
Amazing that people are still coming up with such awesome fresh content despite how old this game is (well same could be said with Morrowind and Daggerfall's modding communities too, and those games are even older, but still glad to see it). As someone who's made mods for Oblivion, etc, in the past, I really can appreciate the time and effort put into making this, and can't fathom how long it took them. Agreed about the writing and the creative use of the vanilla assets. Certainly will give this a proper playthrough at some point once I come back to Oblivion. And thank you for delving into a lot of these hidden gems mods and getting them into the spotlight. Your sense of humor helps put me in a better mood too.
Unexpectedly high quality mod! At the end I thought you would have to put Hellirs heart inside the strange container/statue near the bed, but I guess I was thinking too complicated lol
You're close! Remember Morte's bones that Mickey picked up back in the Dark Forest? Well, close to the Chapel is Morte's house, hidden down by some rocks. Give his bones to him, and he'll give you an Essence of Empathy, which you can place in that little body container by Hellir's bed. Doing that helps with the Hellir battle.
so, I know I'm 7 months late here but I have played this, did you notice how the ribs don't stack? That means they have different item IDs, you kinda screwed yourself by picking up all 4 at once because it's 1 set of ribs per coffin but because you picked them all up and they are named the same and items with the same name can get shuffled in terms of sorting order whenever you open your inventory, the correct order was going to be difficult for you to achieve also while there is a script to make the skull appear when the correct set of ribs is placed in the coffin, there isn't a script to make it disappear again when the correct set is removed meaning that while the skullw as there, when you took the ribs back out of the coffins they sorta deactivated, thereby making you unable to progress.
The ribcages didn't stack so they're all probably a unique ID, so each ribcage was probably supposed to match with a specific coffin but the mod creator didn't make them obviously different nor did they have a failsafe if the player just kinda stuck all of them in one coffin causing the skull to appear but not making it obvious which ribcage stays in the coffin.

Oblivion was not only my first TES game, but first PC game I'd properly played. So, I 100% agree wigh you that it is stunning, I was beyound amazed with the visuals and music combo. And even now going back to it, the experience is great, even if largely thanks to the nostalgia

Must've taken forever to edit! You added so many great jokes all the way through. I'm gonna have to watch this again so that I can catch even more details.
So im a bit late to the party yet i just finished the mod and had a closer look at the guy clapping in the woods cathedral, who is without a doubt eerily reminiscent of mickey's portrait.. I came back hoping someone might have noticed and confirmed this burning memory.. Thanks for bringing attention to these diamonds in the rough, All manner of content creator's labors deserve to be appreciated. Far to often passion projects sink or are doomed to swim without ever seeing the shallows, its always best that some remnants remain in our minds and have a chance to make it to our hearts.
What you said about mental health struck home and was both thoughtful and well said. I enjoy your videos as the fun entertainment that you intended, but hearing deep, philosophical thoughts in your videos is also pretty fucking cool. Keep up the good work, you’re crushing it!!
Fallout New Vegas has this really terrifying map you could play. It was like an abandoned fun house fiends had taken over and turned into their own place of horrors. Not sure if it exists still but it was still really good.
When Oblivion came out back in 2006, the game looked phenomenal on PC, an 8800 Ultra or two, and my god, that was the pinnacle of graphics aside from Crysis which came out in 2007
I have a suggestion for future content regarding difficulty slider. You see, it is has some bizzare scale, like x6/x0.15 damage when slided to either end. It may make sense not to push it all the way, but instead to x2-x3 player versus enemy damage, so that difficulty of different encounters can still be compared on a video. Mod authors did some balancing and its cool to have an idea what they ended up with.
Hey, anyone wanting to know why he struggled so hard on the four coffins puzzle, it was as convoluted as it seems. Each of those ribcages have a corresponding coffin. It was just trial and error. Looking at the author's walk-through, not even he remembers, which is for which.
Love this video. Rewatch from time to time. It was uploaded on probably the most stressful time of my life. Watching it then made me smile for the first time in ages. It's probably my favourite youtube video cause of that. Still watching a year later😅

I easily put in close to 1k hours back in the day in Oblivion. Is honestly my favorite game of all time. On my playthrough I made it my mission to collect every single book in the game. I then brought the adoring fan down to my basement in my skingrad house and buried him in every single book in the game. I would also make potions and drop them in the books. The collection took up 1/3 of the basement and went to the ceiling lol. I would get like 3 frames down there. The adoring fan would all the sudden scream "by azura by azura by azura! Its the grand champion!" lol I couldn't even see him it just came from the massive pile of books and potions. Good times.

Of course he will, he has the power of the Bepsi.
I thought the Irish and British didn't get along. Like Irish and Scottish. Or Irish and Welsh. Or Irish and other Irish.
@@rustyjones7908 The Irish get along with no one.
@@rustyjones7908 think of it as like an immediate minus reputation but they can be friends
Oblivion was not only my first TES game, but first PC game I'd properly played. So, I 100% agree wigh you that it is stunning, I was beyound amazed with the visuals and music combo. And even now going back to it, the experience is great, even if largely thanks to the nostalgia
A new mickyD upload?, feels like Christmas!
micky d providing us with amazing spooky content during the halloween season
I was literally browsing through the Oblivion Nexus right now and then this popped up, *glooorious*
Alway's happy to see the irish lad popping up in my subscribtion feed! And an hour and a half long video! I say yes to that!
Thank you for showcasing this. Love the let's play type longer form content.
if any game deserves a remaster/remake it's oblivion
"7.8/10 too many bones" - IGN
No, but seriously, this is probably one of the greatest mods, let alone horror mods, I've ever seen! So much detail, great story, and all at feature length.
Love when you post long videos :D The longer the better. Cheers, mate, have a spooky 'tober!
You do not know how happy I was to see a new video from you.
What good have I done in this world to have earned the pleasure of a Michward Dickens video today?
When you were looking at a skull and saying I need a mind dome I was like huh
A feature length video of Micky D action? YAAAS MAN
god i just finished, what an amazing mod from an amazing streamer. i honestly havent played oblivion in many, many years, but i was always so into it, and kept up with you and your shenanigans. this mod genuinely makes me want to get back into oblivion and morrowind for the awesome, soul-filled mods. much love micky
My brother once hypnotised a crab to attack me irl by putting his finger between it's eyes or something, it's a long and forgettable story but yes there are some crabs who will absolutely gun for you
Super chill playthrough with the music on.
Good times.
seeing this series again makes me want to clean up my modlist and replay VIGILANT ngl, the second chapter and some dungeons in the final chapter are wonderfully scary imo
Micky representing with the Huey Lewis again. Pure class
UA-cam didnt show me the video on sub feed but i found it and its great, love ya
I'm glad you mentioned getting Elden Ring vibes, because I was feeling that too but couldn't quite place it.
Lord thunderin comin down the tail end of a cozy bout with some funky fungi and Micky D delivers the comfiest vibes i'm seekin, cheers to you you absolute gremlin
I love the videos and the older elder scrolls games. The gameplay is so different between the titles. Please keep making videos.
"Don't go chasing waterfalls.." fecking worth it Micky. Worth every second for that joke.
Hi Micky, class video, its my first time watching a video on your UA-cam channel, great work love your editing, cracked me up when you found the ham in the cupboard, lol just hiding a slice of dennys for later lol, keep up the great stuff looking forward to watching the rest of you content,
Yaay Mickey uploaded new Oblivion viceo!
Missed yah bro good to see yah post ! Thanks 🙏 ❤
he said, "*Do ya like Lightnin'? Very Frightnin'.*" and I laughed very hard.
2:30 someone hasnt been to florida lol. i havent been myself since i was a small kid but i have a very early memory of the beach being absolutely swarmed by hordes of crabs at night so a few of my cousins went out just to start screwing with them and catching a few to eat i was a toddler so i didnt go all the way down there because they probably could take off a finger of someone that age but i vividly remember a horrifying swarm of giant red pinch spiders
That book about the wizard seems like the process of someone becoming a lich, half way through I realized its prob about someone close with Alzheimer's or similar in author's life.
"I named him Suriel Beptim, because I think that is really funny."
Well, either the Anti-Depressants are finally working again, or I sure do too!
edit: And yes, Micky, there are crabs that will go for you. Coconut Crabs are Donkey-Hats
You should have seen the smile on my face when I realised the video was an hour and a half long haha; cheers man!
I can't believe how great the writing is. It's something you so rarely see in mods.
I like listen to your videos while gaming
I subscribed just because of your honest depiction of Uriel. Bravo.
1 and a half hours of some of my favourite type of content? From one of my fav tubers? What an amazing early birthday gift
Happy early birthday, m8.
Happy early birthday.
Happy early bday my n'wah
This is the good side of UA-cam. MickyD's community warms my heart.
First vid I’ve shared in a while just because I’ve been following the troubles with this vid on twitter
