- Episode #260 : Season 9 : The South Pacific Adventures
Hello Friends,
On this episode we haul up and head off for some adventure on the far side of the lagoon at Rangiroa at Motu Faama. Keeping a keen eye out as we transit the uncharted waters we have a close encounter with a coral bommie and finally make it safe in to the tropical paridise anchorage of Motu Faama and waste no time getting the explorations underway.

Wow James. I’ve been binge watching your stuff for a while now. Your life journey is truly a proof of grit and a showcase of how our human spirit will always prevail if we just stick to the greater goal no matter how gnarly life gets. You show it well my friend!
There’s something special about this video. One of those that just comes out with a different touch!
Thanks for all you do and keep on sailing brother ⛵️.
It’s one of my favorite videos I have made 👍🏻 thanks for watching
Great video. The last few minutes with the drone footage and music was really breathtaking. Awesome!
Beautiful video !!! Keep up the great work. Cheers from Ohio, USA
Back in 1989 when i bought my 30 foot yankee sparkman stephens in hawaii and was planning crossing oceans in 1991,i bought earl hinze book landfalls of paradise while i took a coarse on celestial navigation. I think youre anchored right where he took a picture that jacked my curiosity to maximum overdrive of the south pacific.&I never got there but i did get everywhere else in the south pacific practicly ,eventually.. Fiji being my favorite. That was back before internet and all we had wasTv , books and magazines like cruising world . Gps had only just become available to sailors.. the magellon hand held gps was 5,000.00 . 3 days before i set sail in sept 1991 it went onsale for 2,200.00. I bought it. 3 years later you could buy a garmin gps for 199.00 that was much faster and better. Gps really did change the world. Now everyone can sail the oceans. I got lazy and let my skills for sextent navigation slide after that first year.over the last 30 years i only know 1 yachty who knows how to use a sextant.
Great video - I loved that last jazzy tune as well !
I use your life as an inspiration to my young wife and son to never give up on their dreams. in a few years we will be moving back to Thailand but right now they are home sick. your journey is a gift to all who watch you. thank you calimike
As a guy who’s in the matrix, working a 9-5…or should I say 5-5, I envy your way of life. Keep pumpin out good content my dude.
Go for it
Those first "shells" you picked up were dead heart urchins, the first without its spines and the second, still had them after dying.
Hello Friend, Your Videos are geting better and Better. Thanks!
Dude, imagine that uninhabited Motu on a clear, calm, starry, moonlit night. Although I'll probably never see that with my own eyes I'm glad I got to see it through yours and knowing it's there brings me peace to some extent. That's got to be one of the most peaceful places on Earth. You worked hard to get there! Congrats on a safe yet ultimate adventure.
Hey James, thanks for sharing! This was a beautiful journey, well documented. I especially liked how you cared enough to leave and/or help the hermit crabs. Cheers brother! ⛵🌎🌍🌏
Yeah those guys have some cool houses, I was amazed at how many hermit crabs I saw once I started looking
Those last shots and song!
♥️
God, my heart leapt when I saw that coral off the starboard beam
I had a heart attack 😂
Great vid as always, really well done and very cool.
Magnificent place that few ever get to see.
Man, these last couple of shots are epic and the tunes just hits the spot! From here it looks like you're living my dream. How to meet you out there some day!

Beautiful…….unspoiled!
Good episode sailing in Tahiti islands 🏝 ⛵️ Absolutely beautiful islands .
So beautiful, thanks for sharing. Love your hat :)
James, I can’t thank you enough. I will never be able to walk on a beach again but you sure are bringing it to life for me. I am so glad I found your channel. Thank you
MOST beautiful place ever!😅
James, for better dinghy performance lock the motor, sit on the bow and steer off the bow with an oar. Keep the blade dipped so just a bit is slicing the water then turn the blade in the direction needed and she will turn like a dream. No more wheelies, she will trim perfectly, no more motor vibrating your arm off, and you won't have to steer much leaving hands free for filming. Give it a go, I have been doing this cruising the coast around the Ithsmus and it's much more pleasant.
Loved the crab 100 meter sprint race, made me laugh that you had them in your pocket for that long.
Excellent video James, I couldn't help but make note that there was zero garbage etc. on the beach and surrounds.Good one
How beautiful James. You truly are living your best life. Hahaha the shells in the pocket was hillarious. Thank you for providing such awesome content
OK... I just watched when you bought the boat, episode 1. Now I have to watch them all. They're great. I lived on board a Catalina 25' for a few years on the Chesapeake bay and I loved it. Never blue watered. I want to do it again. Thinking back it was the best time of my live.
Just love that hat!
Another amazing video, James. I really enjoy your perspective of seeing the beauty of this planet and how you share it with us. I really appreciated your childlike wonder with the hermit crabs and the nature around you. I can't wait to finish the refit of my sailboat in the hopes of following in your foot steps.. err.. boat wake! Happy and safe travels. :)
10:00 watching the difference between the pounding waves of the open ocean versus the calm waters of the lagoon is kind of disquieting in a weird way. it's when you realize that islands in the ocean aren't just land masses but also the water they encompass...
The shallow passes between the motus look as if they were created by storms. A fabulous beach combing opportunity. Nature is amazing.
Yeah they are called Hoas and have tons of life in them
Hey James, amazing video! I would love to see a hyperlapse SV-triteia on one of your journeys! Keep up the good work!
Amazing best video.. awesome.. thank you for sharing this video.. very inspiring.. greetings from traditional Indonesian gold seekers ❤️🇮🇩⛏️⚒️👍👍👍

Hi James! That was 20 minutes of pure bliss! That was hilarious when you discovered the shells in your pocket were occupied! Ha! That like never happens. Have a great day

Good stuff James
Here in the pacific north west we encourage people to leave shells on the beach for hermit crabs. I didn't know they were down down in the tropics too.
Stunning footage THx
Greetings … think i was hearing some “Crusaders” music at the end of the Video?
Excellent !!
Aloha James,
What a beautiful place..I'm a shell picker and totally love seeing the shells there. Watch out for cone shells some are deadly. Stay safe and enjoy.
Mountains and the sea. So much out there and I love to see what I can through the eyes of others. Thank you sir.
I'm adding these fantastic places to my ever expanding bucket list. Good stuff.
Need some Polaroids dude.Get a brown pair and a blue pair.Blue for sunny days and brown for overcast days when trying to spot reefs or coral bomis.
