thanks all for watching! next video will be up in a week (on Saturday). cheers!
fantastiskt fint! två månader till och ni får solsken i 4 månader!
Would be nice to have 2 or 3 videos. Just simple.
You may want to reconsider any plans to sail the North West passage to Greenland.
There have been repeated slope failure submarine landslides from the Mackenzie continental shelf, and North CAA and Greenland, mostly around peak tides causing Arctic basin wide Tsunami.
The ice is pulverised right across the basin and violent cyclones have been breaking out in the CAA and Beaufort fed by geothemally heated waters shoaling out of the basin, and Deep Submarine Vulcanism in the central Beaufort.
Always look forward to your next video.
You missed most of the BEAUTIFUL places GOING NORTH FROM CAMBELL. RIVER, AND A LOT MORE ON THE WAY AFTER YOU GET PAST QUEEN CHARLOTTE STRAIT GOOD LUCK ON THE WAY NORTH
A lot of people sail but hardly anyone sails to Alaska in the winter. I am impressed
I really congratulate you with all my heart, you have made a beauty out of an abandoned ship, my most sincere congratulations and good fortune, blessings to both of you
🌎
Thanks for taking us along on your journey. Well done.
You make very cinematic videos that are a pleasure to watch. Thank you and please keep posting them. Safe travels !
thanks charles! glad to have you along!
This is beautiful music the end. I also like the poem and the views. It is very relaxing. As you surely have seen, many UA-cam channels have people of many tempermants but I find the relaxation of channels like this very nice.
I tended to change my viewing of media to be not what simply enamors me the most but the way I want to be. It is a good influence.😄
as a Finnish people, i had never before heard of Sointula.
it was amazing to read the history of the place, even if it was a sad one, it is still amazing to find places like this with Finnish names at the other side of the world ! we are a small nation, but we have been in so many places.
I think there's also quite a few Nordic named locations, in northern USA for example. There's wiki article called "Nordic and Scandinavian Americans" that looks interesting.
Another article that might be interesting on wiki is called "Finnish Americans".
Many settled in the Michigan upper peninsula, also called 'The U.P.' by people in the region.
Anywhere the Nootka and Bella Coola is magic❤
Beautiful episode! If you are going back the same way, I highly recommend a few days or weeks around Desolation Sound. You went right by it as you entered the Johnston Strait. Water is very warm in summer in Desolation. Very comfortable for swimming in freshwater lakes, and even in the ocean. Really. Enjoy the rest of your journey. Thanks for the divine entertainment.
thanks! yes, I know we missed Desolation Sound and we know it's the favourite cruising ground for many locals... we might be back :)
@@AlluringArctic You are getting all the area has to offer in winter already. You captured it beautifully, too. The warm water is the most special thing about DS, but it’s a summertime thing. I think you have to go as far south as mid-Baja to find warmer water on the west coast. Thanks again for bringing us along!
Wonderful Rainbow! 😊👌👍👍
Thanks for your interesting and quality videos
My reason for watching (addicted) is not the sailing but it is YOU Juho. Your quiet nature and the way you express things in English is unique and I’m convinced that all you have to do to be a success is just to be YOU! I love the way you always have a smile when you are narrating the videos.
Keep safe and keep posting more! Thanks
Regards Nick 0:05
This was a beautiful episode!! Everyone did their part to move forward!
An forward into beauty it was literally surrounding you all!
Thanks for sharing your lives with us grateful for the lesson's and wisdom shared!! ✌🏼💗😊,⛵
The cold looks cold but the warm sunny days look awesome. Keep the good stuff coming.
Beautiful filming and your music choices are very nice.
Very Good.
Lovely footage. Lovely scenery. Professional photography.....and suomen lippu. I am Swedish but my wife was Finnish.
So many logs! And whole tree stumps, the size of growlers. OMG! Frankly, this is one of the reasons we chose a Garcia, with the strong bow, strong hull, double rudders and protected propeller. Did you end up hitting any? I guess it's inevitable when there's so many. Thanks for the video.
This video makes us so homesick. We are so familiar with every nock, cranny, wind and currents. The last poem sums up our life too and we are grateful for that. I am glad you like Sointula as much as we did. Sorry the bicycles were not available. Enjoy.
Great videos things that get me are the video Quality high resolution and the Editing. Superior to all others. Well done!
Fascinating book with a history of that area 'Passage To Juneau' - thoroughly recommended.
Merci!
Merci beaucoup Martin!
Winter sailing in BC is a lot of fun. It’s rarely all that cold if one is equipped.
Just found your channel and just wanted to say hello and thank you for the great content.
Cheers from Utah, U.S.A. (I have Finnish and Swedish ancestry). 😊
What a friggin beautiful part of the world. Awesome video, thanks!
There weren't any trolls in the Misty Mountains!
Grizzly bear poop is easy to recognize. It has little undigested bells in it.
have heard that one before ;)
Gosh she really is a most beautiful boat! ❤❤
Boy thats a sharp looking boat!
So glad your sister could join you.
Fantastic episode- thank you- and finally more Sohvi :))
Beautiful Alaska, so much to see. Looking forward when you sail the northern side of Alaska. Keep on keeping on Juho, Solvi and Veera.
The inside is always pretty calm…. That’s why the wild side is called the wildside
Great 😊
Sohvi is so cute!
Takk! I realy like your videos, have fun 👍😄🇳🇴
Thanks a lot Bernt!

I offer instead my words of praise and thanks for the miracles and wonders of our Lord's creation that you capture and share so professionally.
The boat really looks good!

and yes the box of chocs gets my vote too
Wow Lumi under sail with great winds is a beautiful site to behold. Awesome! Another great Alluring Arctic Sailing update. Thanks for sharing!
This video is filled with breathtaking scenery only eclipsed by the 🌈. You nailed the accompanying music. Superb, top quality, filmmaking at its Pinnacle. 👏 Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful videos. A wonderful sight to see. Have sailed in Desolation Sound and Octopus islands during the summer many times. A beautiful contrast to see you sailing in familiar areas in the winter.
Awesome ...
thanks for watching!
Thanks for a beautiful video I have heard many stories of boats being holed by drift wood in the Johnson Straights good sailing I liked the poem very fitting. stay safe and enjoy adventure. well done 💚✌☘👍

I love your style of videos and sailing. Do you ever take on crew? I’d love to sail with you on one leg of your trip. So beautiful and peaceful. Thank you!
Great stuff I would’ve never seen this part of the world without your video, thanks for sharing🎉
In my opinion the north American west coast is without a doubt some of the most beautiful places on earth.
Loved the drone footage at 3.50, boat looking great. Keep up the great work, thx
Simply another great video indeed.
Thanks! The drone shot shows how beautiful a boat UMI really is, the more so because of the Alaskan scenery on clear and sunny day.
thanks so much!
Very high quality filming - and good comments.... Followed R2AK 3 times so I feel I know this part of the coast - was in Vancouver once with a merchant ship...
Incredible landscape!
I like to see how my food program might be possible in various situations, such as hiking or even sailing, which I probably wouldn't end up doing anyways at least not for multi-day sails.
For ancient times food that lasts for a longer time was necessary. There are healthy foods that can be canned, such as the carrots and kale that I eat. I would definitely considered dried fruits, too. All the rest of my food is longer lasting: canned beans, dry pasta, oats and whole wheat flour for bread.
Of course, having a refrigerator would be optimal shopping in port every 1-2 weeks for fresh fruits and vegetables, would be nice.
Thanks !
You living the dream.💯👏
Spectacular scenery! I would watched an hour of raw zen like ‘sailing’ footage
Love you guys
😍
What a beautiful video.
Love this channel..scenery is awsome.be safe out there
BC coast is so beautiful, love watching your adventures ❤
Thank's for this beautiful video! 😎 Waiting for the next one.
that was a neat place you visited this episode, thanks for sharing
Eating well I see! Chewing your food.
An excellent video that captures the spirit of that area. Johnston Strait is known for having a lot of logs, probably because of the timber industry and clear cutting. Queen Charlotte sound can also have a lot of driftwood and logs. Also, after heavy rains, the streams and rivers will flood and spew out a lot of limbs and logs. Here in Gastineau Channel and Stephens Passage, I have to be on the lookout for them after either the spring high tides or heavy rains. You'll also notice them in areas where the ebbtide meets the flood tide, for some reason!
Another beautiful episode!
Nice and warm , sitting around in wintergear , I guess it's all relative.
Warm , to me , is swimming naked in the tropics.
Such beautiful scenery!.... And I thought that old wharf and building in the middle of nowhere was very interesting.. didn't look like much had changed there during the past 100 years..
I love your enjoyment of winter sailing in british columbia. I have sailed bc for 50 years. Some of the best times are winter when the summer sailors are in Vancouver and Seattle.
So nice to watch your videos. Sorry we had a little but much snow this year but some years we have some ice in the fjords.
Good travels
Nicely done in so many ways. Thank you for sharing.
I have to say your lucky to see all the beautiful sites nature is incredible
I envy you guys on your adventure a vary serious adventure best of luck
God, I would give anything to be on your adventure!!!, you guys are truly a sailing channel. Thank you for sharing.
So nice to involve family!
So nice to have family interested!
Juho, bro, after this cold and winter adventures you will need to bring girls to Caribbean - to warm up and take some sunbath!🌞😂
I can't believe how stunning the red trim on your sails and the bright red sail bag stand out against your white sail boat. Great job on your "fixer up project boat. Keep these great episodes coming.
Thank you for taking us along of this outstanding Journey to Alaska... Another great Edit for sure..
thanks, my pleasure!
Interesting to see the Standard Oil sign on that building. They were forced to give up their monopoly and Esso, Shell and other small companies were formed. Seems they still have a monopoly!
Beautiful episode.
So nice to spend a little time getting an update on your adventure
You did a First Rate job on refitting Lumi ! Such a beautiful sailing vessel, especially surrounded by the immense beauty of Alaska! Sincere thanks.
Super video. Thank you
boat looks pretty sexy: in those long shots, sailing along, cutting through the water. . . 😉
All that driftwood. Just imagine what it was like 100+ years ago. Probably impassable. 😂
This video is amazing. Stunning scenery and editing. Thank you so much for allowing us to come along on your journey. It is so nice to escape and I wish so much I could experience a sliver of solitude and peace.
Nice to sea 😁
Thank you for sharing this with us.
Looking forward to the next one. These are awesome! ❤❤
Nice episode, thanks.
Beautiful
Wish this was longer! Have a safe trip ahead.
