I once had a 30’ traditional heavy displacement boat that was perfect for solo sailing and was great passagemaker even with three adults. Simple, safe and cheap to operate. Your project reminds me of those days.
What a big beautiful world we have and most of us will never explore it like you do. (including me). Thank you for the beautiful videography you do sir.
Hello James! I too am anticipating your next sailing adventure. I can understand you being anxious to get going. The people there sure are nice and accommodating. It's nice to see that you can find kindness all over the world! Be safe and thanks for sharing another great video!
Good to see you again. As I was watching you I remembered a tv series back in the late 50’s or early 60’s about an adventurous individual like you sailing the high seas. I loved that shoe. I was about 12 or 13 at that time. I have always loved the seas. Thanks for evoking the memory.
Peaceful contact, really like the vibe. One thing is for sure after watching your videos, when you decide to do something just go for it and never look back. Enjoying your videos and live on….
I just love your video's. I download them so I have something interesting to watch at night when I'm out in the middle of nowhere high up in the mountains with no internet. Cuz they make me feel like what I'm doing is a cake walk compared to what your doing. Your a brave man that I admire alot.
Yeah when I grew up my grandparents didn’t refrigerate eggs either now that ya mention it. They had cartons they’d pop the ones they got from the chicken coop that day into and they went through them so fast you didn’t have to worry about it.
you don't have to put them in the refer unless you wash them. The USDA requires they be washed so stores have to refrigerate them. In Europe they don't. They are just on the shelf with other unrefrigerated foods.
I’ve said it several times but have to keep reiterating, if you take the maps app on your find and zoom out, scroll to where he’s at and zoom in just a bit, it’s just water, that’s it, in every direction. If there’s a more remote place on planet earth you’d be hard pressed to find it.
You took $2500, a lot of elbow grease and a dream and created a magic carpet that takes you to places most people can only dream of. I know the upgrades and new engine were not cheap but I don't think you could have built a reliable world cruiser for less money. Now all of the hard work is paying off. Safe travels.
I sailed from oahu in 91 to fanning, west samoa, tonga, fiji, vanuatu, new caladonia. The ony place that was not epic was new calidonia. It was cold there . A bit depressing. I sailed back to fiji from there. During the queens day storm. I got pounded but not like the newzealand fleet headed for tonga did.. Fiji is my favorite.
@@patrickjames1080 Yes I do. I sailed a lot competitively growing up in single handed boats like Lasers. Now I go out from time to time on larger sailboats with friends.

As long as the egg hasn't been washed it doesn't need to be refrigerated but if the egg has been washed it has to be refrigerated there's a protective membrane around it when you wash it you wash it off.
I notice the 3D soundscapes. Nice. Fair winds friend, you're a marvel, esp. when you snorkeled in the doldrums & sailed a rudderless boat to Hawaii. No fear.

Rolling in a boat is hard to explain to mom boaters, it's your body literally getting tossed back and forth, he understates what it's like, when you step on land your brain keeps rolling, it's a weird sensation, sometimes can last for days with some people, I don't know if sail as much as he does what that does to your brain, long-term, he's a out on the water a lot. I never looked into it but I guess if you haul up on land enough there'd be no issue, just curious, great watching you daily around the different places. Thank you.
@@SailorJames I see. Any reason why not? I’ve had several over the years and found them useful although they are something else to maintain but as a mechanic that wasn’t an issue.
I'm impressed by the performance of your boat and loving the colors of blue in your videos very high quality thank you! Having looked at saildata of an Alberg 30 on the comfort ratio, rating high and wondering why you would feel the rough rolling sailing between islands or just on anchor, cos lm looking for a boat with a high comfort ratio n low capsize rating but in reality all kinds of boats are out there no matter what.... wondering if your boats ratios really make a difference? cheers
A huge part of sailing the world is adjusting your concept of “comfort” in exchange for what we think is comfortable on land we are given magical experiences beyond belief
There is no $3000 entry. There is an $1800 bond that can be gotten around by buying a refundable one way plane ticket out of the country and then canceling it and showing customs the ticket. I hired Tahiti crew to handle all of my clear in, it was $279 total and they covered my bond. Never paid a penny more at clear out Also I have cheap progressive insurance that no one even looked at.
@@SailorJames Very glad to hear that...I was going to build a boat, a tristar 48, then someone said, "You'll never get insurance for a wood boat, and without insurance many countries won't let you in.."
@@SailorJames do you have some sort of global cell plan bought in the US? Or do you buy SIM cards locally or what are the logistics there? It’s amazing that such remote places have cell service and fresh water. And every time you show a local grocery store I’m at awe how they get all that stuff there. I think it would be interesting (at least to me) if you mentioned what prices are like for goods between different places you go, maybe pick one or two staples like a loaf of bread or a box of pasta and mention the price. The diesel you got ended up being like $5.80 per gallon, which is pretty damn good considering it probably has to be tankered over there.
Not dangerous necessarily, as the trades regularly blow 20knots but the thing to know is it depends on if you are sailing into the wind or with the wind which makes a massive difference. Sailing for days into 20+ knots means you would only be making a few knots of speed and beating into big seas, this puts a lot of stress on the boat, the gear and the crew. So if you can avoid it then you do. Closer to Tahiti it was blowing 30+ knots at the same time
Beautiful place James! I really enjoy watching your videos/adventures, you are very authentic! you dont even need girls in bikinis to make the videos totally enjoyable!.✌😉
Great thanks! Better when you post a new vid! Made my day!. Heading to a lake nearby my village to practice fishing!, getting cold here now so most of the fish are at the bottom until dusk. Can’t wait for beautiful weather and salt water fishing!. Cheers 🍻
G'day mate, many years ago my wife and I were at a private gambling house in Noumea. The wife was playing roulette and had a pile of PFF in front of her. I asked if she knew how much money she had in front of her and of course, she said no. She thought it was monopoly money and when I told her, she collected her money and we came home from a holiday with more money than when we left.
Yes it’s they have for sure, it’s like being on another planet because even the police offices have full tattoo sleeves and tattooed hands, everyone treats me with respect and is stoked on my tattoos. Where in western culture I am followed around in stores like I am an ex-convict
The worst seasickness I've ever had was actually at anchor with a leeshore blowing like mad. The crew had all had a good run ashore and we were worse for wear. Amazing how one or more of us didn't lose their lives in the tender on the way back to the boat! That night after more rum on board, we didn't have anything good to eat so I found some digestives and a piece of Danish Blue washed down with more rum. Swiftly followed with my face in the heads for sometime! It was memorably bad
In the U.S. the commercial eggs are washed with a chemical that kills a protective membrane, so U.S. eggs must be refrigerated. Personally as a well travelled man, I prefer the way the rest of the world does it.
