- The Toyota HiLux has been Australia’s best-selling ute for years, and ahead of an all-new model being unveiled later in 2015, the brand is seeing off the current model with the Black Edition.
Yes, it’s the Black Edition - finished in white, of course - which is based on the most popular variant of the HiLux line-up, the dual-cab four-wheel drive turbo diesel SR5 model.
It’s available as a limited run of less than 1000 vehicles, and if the continued success of Toyota’s long-serving tough truck is any indication, they won’t last long - even priced from $53,240 for the manual and $55,990 for the five-speed auto tested here.
There are some extra inclusions over and above the range-topping SR5 including 17-inch alloy wheels, black side steps, black sports bar and all-black, leather highlighted trim. Trainspotters will notice the TRD badges, and it’s been a while since we’ve seen them on a Toyota in Australia.
Inside, it features the same 6.1-inch touch-screen media system as is seen in other SR5 models, with a reverse-view camera and satellite navigation.

2 years later I still find this generation better looking and more desirable then the actual.
Its a truck, all of you that are obsessed with buttons and start up engines, I dont get it. The simpler, the better, the more reliable
I actually like the exterior of this generation much more then the new one...
Benzinio i totaly agree with you
Holy crap. Really, REALLY good review. :O I was hooked on the review. Subbed!
"yeah this is the black edition presented in white..."
Lol
Wow so different from here in the U.S. we can it Tacoma, I can't recall when the name change happened here in the U.S. the Tacoma is a bit bigger also and we don't get a diesel.
I own an '08 Tacoma 4x4 AC with a 4.0 Liter V-6 with a 6-speed manual transmission, its a good truck take it everywhere. Good Review it!!! From the SunShine State!!
tacoma's design sux. look at the Ford Ranger and this Hilux.
I think not, the Hilux looks like a car not a truck!!!!
+Giovannie Doldolea Lol the hilux is ugly af
Is it possible to purchase that exterior trim? I'm looking to buy a 2015 hilux here in Norway but we never had those bumpers and black decals on our models :P I WANT!
What version this hilux ??
Dream dream car
This dude looks like a Giant, either it's the illusion or he's just a tall bloke. Making the Hilux look small.
Can I put the alloy sr5 genuine bullbar on this?
i have 8 of them... in my dreams..
Why not shoot for a nice round 10? :)
Definitely not worth the money. Good review
Im interested in dis car
I'm looking for a pick-up like this class but it seem it's not the best of them. Which one do you recommend? I'm also looking at Nissan Navara and Mitsubishi Strada, what do you think?
Roberta Rodriguez Wait a few months and buy a 2016 model.. this ute was designed back in 2003-2004.
the best in this segment/class is the Toyota Hilux 3.0 and the Ford Ranger 3.2or if you want the mechanical twin of the ford ranger, the Mazda BT-50.
Meanwhile in Malaysia it's called Hilux TRD Sportivo lol..
'15? Or more like 2014
Crazy to Drive.
so overall its a waste of money?
So this is Black TRD Edition of Toyota Hilax and comes with very small touch lack screen, Basic interior and Not much capacity for pick up car ..! Price wise

Waw i liket
DIANLARA SANDY SINGAPURA nyuci baju aja sana mbak
Omg Toyota in Australia SUCKS
+Lololol24LA I disagree. I dig the Hilux. Smaller = better offroad.
You should see Toyota in South Africa. Australia is light years ahead. We have never even seen a TRD Hilux. And with the current ones, all is downgraded. We don't even get the same headlights than Australia. We get the boring halogen lights, with no LED DRL. What a rip off.
