Welcome back to BOAB Models - today we're building the newly re-released Fiat 500f in 1/24 scale from Tamiya. This kit has a great range of options including 2 sets of livery decals.
The Fiat 500 (Italian: Cinquecento) is an economy / city car that was manufactured and marketed by Fiat Automobiles from 1957 until 1975. It was sold as a two-door semi-convertible or saloon car and as a three-door panel van or estate car.

Do you agree with my BOAB Score?
As I said, cute little car. Comparing it's size to other models, it's hard to believe the 1/1 can carry fully grown humans. Judging from your video, I would say the BOAB Score is spot on.The colours you've chosen for body and interior really match the car, grat build!
Love the tip about using tape to hold onto the windows when installing them.
Thanks, I'm sure I learnt it from someone else but I'm glad it helps
The two handles by the gear stick are use to start the car, from memory of my sisters car.
Ah, thanks a lot. I did watch a video and saw someone pull them before driving
One is starter handle the other a choke leaver. I did my apprenticeship on fiats in the late seventies.
Ah thanks! I thought it would be that sort of thing but great to hear from someone with first hand experience
You could hop the car about a bit on the starter lever. Without the keys. Not that my sister or I ever did that in mum’s 500! My dad didn’t admit practising his clutchless gear changes on it either!
nice work ! i have the italeari 1/12 th kit of the 500
Bellismo Beautiful build
Great build and review. Just picked this one up, looking forward to building it
Great build, looking forward to getting my hands on one of these. I like the color choice too. Thanks for sharing your hard work as always
Great work Thomas, love the way you finished the 500 👍🏼 cool colours and nice details too. Well done 👍🏼
Cheers, Karl. It's a nice little kit
I'm about to start building mine. Great review and a lovely kit.
Thanks very much! Enjoy - it's a great kit.
Fab build, and great colour choice, just👌
Thanks so much! 😊
Excellent build, came out really well, model on
Cheers, Sarah Jane. It was almost out of the box
One of the handles behind the gear stick engages the starter motor.
👍🏻
It looks very good, I'd like to have a go at building this one when I clear my massive backlog haha. I watched 2G Power's video of this model and he had trouble with the engine cover hinges as well.
About the Two levers : the left one is to be pulled in case of cold engine start, while the right is the starter lever to 2:49 be used combined with the turned on key .
Many thanks!
Nicely done.
Cheers!
nice colour! Well built!
Thank you!
Very nice looking build
Many thanks Samuel
So cool! Really nice work. I want to get the racing version with the overfenders and turn it into a small pocket rocket :)
I think that would look awesome! I enjoyed this one so may get the Abarth as well eventually.
@@BOABModels Yey, go for it!
Beautiful job Thomas! Nice kit, thanks for the review. 😎
Cheers Richard! I enjoyed this one

Excellent build Thomas I love it ❤😊
Cheers mate!
You'd be surprised how little the bonnet opens on the real car. Nothing like as good as for example a VW Beetle. For proper access, to do any serious work on the engine, you have to remove the bonnet completely but with such a small and lightweight car that is not much of a hardship. It's similar to a 2CV in that respect.
Ah very interesting and makes sense. I saw a 500 being restored in Paris recently and the engine cover was removed as well as the seats and the wheels.
I wonder if the engine cover might not be fitting well because of paint buildup on the edges of the panels? I've had this happen to me; everything fits beautifully before painting, and those few thin layers of paint are just thick enough to keep a part from sliding into place.
I would have thought that but this was very lightly airbrushed and there was barely any green on the hinges. Good thought though.
It is an ashtray!
What brand of super glue are you using, it looks to be very user friendly. Lovely build, well done you.
Thank you, it's a brand from one of my local hobby stores called FTD Models in Coventry. Not sure how easy it is to find elsewhere.
I have a 1967 Fiat 500. The handles, (levers), in the centre are the choke and starter motor controls. The ignition key doesn't start the car!
Thanks!
Goods morning May I know the wheelbase?
Thanks

Grazie!
