When the film company went to Aston Martin and told them about all the gadgets they wanted, they didn't tell them that the bulletproof screen didn't have to stop real bullets, so AM really did make them a bulletproof screen and had to beef up the suspension to carry the extra weight.
Oh wow! I'd heard that the reproduction DB5s Aston have made recently have fully bulletproof shields but made from kevlar composite which is probably a lot lighter than 1960s tech was.
A lot of neat detail touches on this model and it would be good to see it come out as a standard DB5. Just to be different I'd put it in red or British Racing Green.
Great job on the build. I really like this kit and I'm looking forward to getting on as well. Good choice for the body color and nice work on the grill. I agree, that is one part that could have used a better design. Thanks for sharing, have a great week. -David
I find a heavy brushed coat of enamel matt paint in a similar colour to the carpet works great as an adhesive for the flocking powder. It levels nicely, stays sticky long enough and dries matt.
Very nice assembly and video, looks gorgeous. Ill probably wait for the full blown detailed glue kit if anyone ever makes it. I believe Airfix did issue one a long time ago.😊
Many thanks, David. Unfortunately it seems unlikely that Airfix will reissue any 1/24 cars. Their 1/43 DB5 looks nice but many people won't go that small.
Looks promising. Regarding aftermarket parts our Ukrainian friend from USCP announced that he is releasing wheels for this kit. I really hope Revell will come up with a standard version of this kit w more detail ie engine and such.
And perhaps a set of road spikes...the original Airfix kit came with those! A shame Airfix can't re-releases a retooled reopop as the original was a full detail engine and undercarriage kit. I would imagine Revell's license would deter Airfix from their own 1/24 kit...
It's rather odd...in the pretty shots at the end I felt that the car looked like the NTTD version with the Goldfinger bumper slapped on. The shot I thought of in particular was after Bond avoids the sheep by doing a one eighty. I'd definitely love this set....but I'm no good at model making, even though I critique model cars when collecting.
Looks like a big improvement over the 60’s Aurora kit which had spring loaded ejection seat, a fun feature as a kid now not so much. The final result looks great. As you’ve stated someone will probably make a photo etched grill an accessories. Happy to see the kit and your fine review! Thanks
Many thank, Richard. Spring loaded seat would definitely make this more a toy than a model so I'm glad they left that off too! The grille isn't glued so if a better one comes out, I may get one.
Very nice work Thomas, came out well, not overly shiny but more 60's looking. Revell will likely re use the molds, mainly to get some of the outlay back, keep up the excellent work, model on
There were two different Aston Martin DB5's used in Goldfinger. One with the gadgets and one that was just stock. If you watch the film carefully, only the 'gadget' car has the orange reflectors on the side. This (and the dent in the non-gadget car) is the easiest way to distinguish between the two cars. So, for accuracy, this build should have kept the orange stickers. (Points for Revell to know this and include the orange reflectors. Previously, only the Danbury Mint car had these reflectors.)
You're right and I would have included the side markers but I felt the decals didn't look realistic enough. The gadget car was the original DB5 prototype, based on a DB4, and was previously red.
Next, build the Monogram `64 1-24 th .scale Mustang convertible, paint it white with a red interior, red top down boot, and you got the two cars from that great scene in 'Goldfinger'. Is there a `37 Rolls Royce Phantom lll available in this scale?
Nice work, it looks really good! It's a pity about the grille but I think your matte shading improves it a lot. It would have been nice to get a photoetch one at this price point like with the Tamiya Lotus reissues.
Just finished building this kit found i had to glue some parts together as the fit was not great And agree that it is a little expensive for what you get 122 parts is not a lot for the price But looks good when finished
Those wire wheels look very convincing. Now, I wonder if in the real DB5 whether there was a tire-shredder in the front. In the film, I thought I saw just the rear shredder.
Or you can find the Monogram 1/24 Aston Martin DB-4 and "borrow" some pieces to complete your car. FYI, USCP makes the open grille and very good rendition of the DB-5 wire wheels and Pirelli tyres.
@TheDc007fan it's moulded in coloured plastic so you could get away with leaving it unpainted, definitely. Have a look at the unboxing video as all the parts are in their unfinished state there.
Nice build. Never seen side glass like this. Watching this review I am giving this kit a pass and waiting for another company (Fujimi?) to release their version.
I sent mine back when i found out it was an easy click model. Its way over priced, for basically a toy. If you enjoyed your attempt, thats fine. Not for me though.
Really enjoyed watching that - again!
Thanks!

Beautiful work! Well done. Great video to!
Thanks very much!
You made the car look really good
Many thanks!
Awesome 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful job and the basic kit is better than I was expecting. I shall have to get one. Thanks for the review.
Many thanks and I agree.
A lot of neat detail touches on this model and it would be good to see it come out as a standard DB5. Just to be different I'd put it in red or British Racing Green.
Well done Sir! I find these Clickers fun to build once in a while. Great slump busters!
Thanks a lot. Yeah, I built this in under 2 weeks which is very quick considering how busy I've been recently.
That's awesome, looks so nice and very clean work too. Well done Thomas.
Thanks very much, Karl

Thanks David, much appreciated. I know Zero paints do a colour matched silver birch but I decided to go with one in a can.
I find a heavy brushed coat of enamel matt paint in a similar colour to the carpet works great as an adhesive for the flocking powder. It levels nicely, stays sticky long enough and dries matt.
I've seen people do that on other videos but I don't actually have any enamel paint. Maybe I should get some for jobs like that. Thanks
Nice work, turned out great. Will definitely be picking one up.
Many thanks! Good luck with yours
Lovely job! I'm quite tempted by this and the Back to the Future Delorian :)
Thanks very much, Stu. The Aoshima DeLorean is a lot of fun too but you might want to wait - they are bringing out a new tool with opening doors.

Very nice build. Things go together really well. I can see Revell coming out with a stock version very soon. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Michael. I was very happy with most of the fit.
Looks promising. Regarding aftermarket parts our Ukrainian friend from USCP announced that he is releasing wheels for this kit. I really hope Revell will come up with a standard version of this kit w more detail ie engine and such.
Yes, I have seen those USCP wheels and they look much better. I imagine they will do a grille next.
Maybe some mini guns or a champagne chiller?
Yes, I'd been thinking about how to make the No Time to Die version. It needs a standard front bumper too
And perhaps a set of road spikes...the original Airfix kit came with those! A shame Airfix can't re-releases a retooled reopop as the original was a full detail engine and undercarriage kit. I would imagine Revell's license would deter Airfix from their own 1/24 kit...

@@BOABModelsthanks for your reply Thomas, The kit is a bit pricey!
@richardlee1092 yeah, hopefully it will go down in time
Very nice work Thomas, came out well, not overly shiny but more 60's looking. Revell will likely re use the molds, mainly to get some of the outlay back, keep up the excellent work, model on
Thanks, Sarah Jane. Yeah, they definitely make their tooling versatile to rebox it as different versions.

They would make a cool pair and I've not made a Mustang since before I had my channel...
Doing exactly that, 1/24 scale. White is "Wimbledon White" which I can recreate.
Nice
Nice work, it looks really good! It's a pity about the grille but I think your matte shading improves it a lot. It would have been nice to get a photoetch one at this price point like with the Tamiya Lotus reissues.
I agree with that - I can't think of any Revell kits which have come with photo etch unfortunately.
Just finished building this kit found i had to glue some parts together as the fit was not great

But looks good when finished
I'd be interested to know what you needed to glue. I did add some to the wing mirrors as I found they moved around.
Thanks for the reply it was mainly some of the chrome parts as you say the wing mirrors but also side vents and the wheels
Those wire wheels look very convincing. Now, I wonder if in the real DB5 whether there was a tire-shredder in the front. In the film, I thought I saw just the rear shredder.
Yeah, when I looked back at the film, I'm sure Bond only deployed the rear left. The car may have been designed with 4 though.
Or you can find the Monogram 1/24 Aston Martin DB-4 and "borrow" some pieces to complete your car.
FYI, USCP makes the open grille and very good rendition of the DB-5 wire wheels and Pirelli tyres.
Haha thanks.
Yeah, I know about the USCP stuff which does look good but I made this kit before those were designed.
8:03 - dont thin down your white glue with water. That is causing the patchyness. Paint it evenly with a small broad brush
Thanks for the tip, I'll bear it in mind next time.
It would have been nice if there was 2 figures with the kit!
True, but figures are rare in Revell kits. I know Fujimi do a figure set though.
Instead of flocking, try embossing powder over PVA glue-you can paint it any color, and it really looks like cut pile carpet
Good tip, thanks.
Motobitz UK make some excellent 3d printed wire wheels for revell's e type jag which im sure would fit this db5, the axel stubs look the same
You may be right. I have made both cars and they look a similar size.
I belivd the db5 from goldfinger had a neutral grey interior, or so it looks like when Q opens the arm rest with the switches
Even the colours in the continuation DB5s Aston have made don't seem consistent so I went with how it looked to me.
If I may ask a question....are there both decals AND stickers for around the car, or does that only apply for the numberplates?
Another question....do I HAVE to paint the body or will it look alright without it, as I'm not too good at painting models.
It's a full selection. You can see both sheets on the unboxing video here ua-cam.com/video/iegaVuSNb8E/v-deo.htmlsi=K7-Qxq5Eja8t4EWl
@TheDc007fan it's moulded in coloured plastic so you could get away with leaving it unpainted, definitely. Have a look at the unboxing video as all the parts are in their unfinished state there.
I have this and it is a freaking pain to put together cause some of the parts keep on clicking and popping out
I found some parts like the wing mirrors did need glue. Otherwise they would fall out, like you said.
Nice build. Never seen side glass like this. Watching this review I am giving this kit a pass and waiting for another company (Fujimi?) to release their version.
Thanks, I think the windows are like this to let them fit in without glue. It may be a while before another brand designs a new DB5 though.
If any of you were to die right now would you go to heaven or hell?
I sent mine back when i found out it was an easy click model. Its way over priced, for basically a toy. If you enjoyed your attempt, thats fine. Not for me though.
Sorry to hear that
