I agree with the sentiment. Massive fan of Star Trek in general. Enterprise had terrible acting, particularly Scott Bakula as the Captain. Some good episodes I'll admit. I try to go back every now again but it's very cringe worthy. Nothing compared to the other series - though I'm not sure how Discovery gets so high.
I like Enterprise as well, but to be honest their portrayal of Vulcans as emotional pains in the ass does piss me off. Way to ruin such an iconic race.
@@patrickflynn607 You could tell with Enterprise that they were copying what was going on with a lot of other shows in the early 2000s, (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Roswell, Smallville, etc.) they were trying to reach to that kind of audience cause all those shows were such huge hits but of course, the cost of that is taking the show in directions that are gonna mess with already established canon.
I dislike Discovery, but come on Enterprise? Aong with the awful Next Gen films it put the entire franchise into the old folks home. Enterprise was possibly the least charismatic show ever put to air. I don't think I have ever managed to sit through an entire episode. At least Discovery had some good moments in S1 before it got REALLY dumb. Personally my views about Star Trek are the same as my views about Star Wars. It was glorious but it is time to move on. Let it die.

So when making any sequels, you don't suddenly switch the genre to soft rock and get Rod Stewart involved. Thankfully, Picard, Discovery and Strange New Worlds have returned us to the format and all offer strong theme tunes. Will the visual aspect of discoverys intro theme age badly. Probably because (like the Rod Stewart song) they've tried to be cool.

I'm not sure I have a favorite. But I do think :Enterprise: shouldn't get the flack it does. It showed a time in the Star Trek universe we'd never seen before. The first portable energy weapons used by Earth's forces. The relationship between Humanity and the Vulcans. The first encounters with the Klingons and the Romulans. The dynamic between the Andorians and other species. The changes that occured in Vulcan society early on, and how it would later reflect on Spock's own era. I enjoyed the Episode 'Impulse' it had horror type atmosphere, and explored Vulcan physiology, the long lost crew behaving like zombies after coming into contact with hazardous chemicals. And as an extra bonus, T'Pol was a complex character, showing her relationship with the human crew, particularly Trip. Who some might consider and unlikely couple, but I think they balanced each other well. And the beautiful actress Jolene Blalock portrayed the Vulcan mentality well I think.
The narrator of this video just said that Discovery has, and I quote, "2 seasons of solid writing". He said it out loud. On a video. And then uploaded it for the world to hear. Interesting life choice.
I don't know, I think it's growing towards that. The first two seasons of TOS were very much centered around Kirk, Spock and McCoy, the rest of the main cast didn't got that much focus until season 3, and even then, not that much.
@@babadoudidadouda That's the reason why I couldn't connect with TOS. It was ALWAYS Kirk, Spock & McCoy. Uhura, Scotty, Sulu were a bit sidelined. It's only because of a) the charm of the actors b) the historical importance of a multicultural cast that they are remembered at all. Think about it. Did we ever actually get a Scotty episode or a Uhura episode a la Next Gen?
Discovery and Short Treks are the worst, Enterprise and Voyager aren't as bad as you ranked them. I also wish you had the balls to rank DS9 as the best one. Everybody always plays it safe and gives TOS and TNG the #1 and #2 spots.
Villy DS9 is my personal favorite. I know people want sugary sweet “the future is gonna be great” stuff but I think ST is best when it is gritty and there is conflict. It seems realistic that even though they solved a lot of problems, conflict is going to still exist in the future. I like Picard so far for that reason as well.

ENT stumbled but i thought it was incredible in the s3 and 4 (obviously we ignore the last ep). Also, ENT at its WORST is still light years ahead and better than ANY episode of STD or picard. Everyone can have an opinion and i love hearing others, but anyone claiming that STD is better than voyager or enterprise, well i question that person and am dismissing them (which i really hate doing, but this is literal blasphemy). I understand some dont love archer, but i have to argue that he was a great charismatic leader and captain and he was willing to do anything to get his team home and he reminds me alot of Sisko, just not as badass.

Read the novels for the Animated Series, they are better than the series. Stop insulting Enterprise, real fans like it. Discovery ignores canon, is badly acted to the point you cannot identity with the charectors and therefore the script ideas are wasted on it. Voyager, Enterprise and Deep Space Nine are better than Discovery.
For me enterprise is the best series. Yes it's different from other series but: How should the same Storytelling work without the Federation, without Federation Starfleet, without a Network of Starbases...... Enterprise had to show how the humanity started to become important in a galaxy dominated from other species and their conflicts.... and after this it had to show the way to the known institutions. Yes sometimes there had to be boring themes, but i think that every Episode has brought something important for the purpose of the series. Enterprise did what it had to do and i am sorry that they have cut it to 4 seasons and: Why didn't they give Archer his Federation Founding Speech ON SCREEN, instead of showing only his walk before.

@@andrewsokol2717 Yeah pretty much all of them were great, they got enough screen time to shine, despite having only 4 seasons instead of the 7 most other series had. And they didn´t got a single movie. I don´t want to say that the Next Gen Characters were bad, but they took a lot longer to establish such well flashed out characters. Especially Worf and O´Brien benefited (IMO) way more from their transitions to DS9 than from their first runs on TNG. And there would have been enough opportunity to just go on with this journey to establish a on-screen canon birth-of-the-federation-story until it would have been in the state "needed" for the original series to start from. In my eyes they really should have given Enterprise at least another season to give the changes of the 3rd and 4th season an opportunity to pay off. Yeah, the first two seasons were a bit lame but i really liked the Xindi-Arc and the Diplomacy-connected events in season 4 and i would have loved to see the transition from a coalition with multiple indendent fleets into a single body working to defend all of the members against a first Klingon invasion before the Coalition becomes the Federation.

You fail to mention the best episode in the entire Star Trek The Next Generation... The Inner Light. Needless to say that this 125th episode is one of the major factors contribute to make ST:TNG as the best series of all time. Among the few episodes in the entire Star Trek universe that could make people numb mentally for few days. [ST:DS9 got The Visitor and In the Pale Moonlight, but in my personal opinion The Inner Light tops both of them.]
TNG had many great episodes.... and some festering turds too. I would sometimes stop watching for weeks or months after seeing an episode so very bad.... But that was always the thing with Trek. For the original series... City on the Edge of Forever, Balance of Terror, Mirror, Mirror, so many great episodes.... and Spock's Brain too.
It’s ok. I honestly don’t like any Star Trek episodes in which they put the actors in a different life or time line. I don’t care if it’s DS9, Voyager or TNG. I usually skip those episodes.

Arguably, my list of the favorite "trek" series is as follows: 6) Discovery - Arguably the worst Trek show ever. Boring episodes, lousy acting. And above all did not to justice to the other Star Trek series. 5) Star Trek: The Animated Series - While not being the best series and only ran for one season, it arguably had some of the best features to the series. Sadly the only thing that really kept it being better was the fact that Walter Keonig unfortunately didn't make an appearance in the show as Chekov from the original series. 4) Star Trek Voyager - While the show debuted something the previous shows had not.. Namely a female captain and a female semi-Borg character being added and an arguably handsome looking ship, the Voyager series was pretty okay actually. Some of the episodes were good while some were just plain boring, But in all honesty, it ranked far better than Discovery. 3) Star Trek the Original Series - While only running for 3 seasons, Star Trek set the tone for pretty much every other Star Trek series to come. With actors such as Will Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, James Doohan and of course, the first ever doctor in Starfleet, DeForest Kelley (rest in peace), thus series was arguably one of the best series around. Featuring some of the best episodes and a different theme for every show.. This series remains one of the iconic series from the franchise. Not to mention, some very memorable actors to ever grace the show during its run time. 2) Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Who could've figured that pulling together a run-down space station, add to it a Starfleet commander and a cast of assorted individuals such as a Bajoran first officer, a "trill" Science officer, a "frontier" Doctor, a shape-shifter security officer and a Ferengi bartender could've made for such an interesting and iconic series as Deep Space Nine. This was arguably one of the best series to date. Some of the best episodes featuring alien races never before seen in previous series. And the top spot goes to: 1) Star Trek The Next Generation - This series was arguably the BEST series of the whole franchise. With a run of 7 seasons, a iconic starship and a whole cast of assorted actors such as Patick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, Michael Dorn, Brent Spiner, LeVar Burton and a cast of others, this series was the best.
You forgot the Short Treks on number 7 and Enterprise between 2 and 3, but other than that this is precisely my list as well. Everybody who ranks the original series that high hasn't seen it for a few decades. It really hasn't aged well.
DS9 is usually slightly ahead of TNG for me because I like the conflict and long story arcs. I love how the values of the Federation are tested and how the people react. The actors for both are very high caliber, but I think the theater backgrounds for a lot of the DS9 cast was really able to shine with the setting and the dialog.
Joseph Farkas I will never get over how Trip survived so many attack’s and battles, but a few alien people come along in the last episode and he has to kill himself.

Jezus, why not have some stones and admit DS9 is by far the best star trek show ever.... yes tng is good , yes the original series is good by DS9 is by far the best show from season two till it’s bitter sweet end.
It really isn’t holding up well overtime to me. The older I get the better TNG gets, DS9 does not. Granted it had the best ending easily, but a lot of episodes are bad or pointless straight through 7 seasons. I have no interest in watching any episode with, Bashir, Obrian, Dax, Jake, or Command Sisko anymore, because when you figure out it’s always the same writing ploys with the main cast it gets really boring. Too many ferengi and mirror universe episodes as well and guess who carries EVERYTHING in the mirror universe episodes: Kira. Worf , the Klingons and Cardassians and the dominion war also.
As an over arching narrative DS9 is the best of trek. But as for getting warm and fuzzy and having emotional attachment to the characters, nothing can beat TNG. I have seen DS9 start to finish maybe 2 times. However I have watched watched every episode of TNG at least a dozen times. As I get older I find that I can rewatch TNG and (to a lesser degree) Voyager on near repeat. But DS9 takes a bit more to get through, which likely makes it the best trek, but not necessarily the most enjoyable trek.
Prior to rewatching both TNG and DS9 in order, I considered TNG to be the best with DS9 second, but after finishing DS9 it definitely has the edge over TNG with more "good" episodes and character development
DS9 was hands down the best. Enterprise is criminally underrated, it is high on my list, with Voyager (the ship and doctor were great) being the low point for the main series. Discovery has likeable characters so it’s fun to watch.
DS9 is God like. I doubt there will ever be a Sci fi show that good. It's the depth of the characters and the scripts. It just blows my mind how good it is. There are likable characters in discovery. However, I just don't like the story arc format, it really puts me off. I prefer treks that keep the story contained to one episode.
Enterprise wasn't very good, and DS9 is OVERrated. About a space station that goes nowhere. It had its excellent ups in its final seasons with the Dominion War but was not adventurous enough.

The decontamination chamber does make sense. You are going to alien worlds where you can potentially pick up something really nasty and spread it to the whole ship. I just wish that it wasn't over used like that, and I always figured that they just didn't care that much about near nudity in the future.
In the 60s it was believed that in the future the nudity would not be a problem. In the late 90s, nudity was not a problem. But in 2020 nudity is very problematic if associated with heterosexual relationships
I think what I hated most was in ep1 the Vulcan girl let's the human rub her back. WTF vulcans do not like physical intimacy, least of all with some cremate they barely know. And then she rubbed his back??? Are you kidding me? I turned the show off right and to this day refuse to acknowledge it

For real, yeah, they used that thing as an excuse to show skin, but the show is decent. If you can get past it, I'd suggest going back and watching it. T'pol and Trip, the volcan and human in that scene, develop a cute relationship.
Was this biased on overall ratings or a popular vote? I guess it all boils down to opinion. I for one liked Enterprise, I felt it got a bad rap. should have ran a bit longer, I would have liked to have seen the Romulan war etc. Formation of the federation etc. it was starting to get there in season 4. So many great potential story lines.
Discovery is garbage and by far the worse ‘Trek’ series ever since its not remotely Star Trek. To have it listed as better than Voyager shows a lack of understanding of the franchise.
The Original Series is my favorite one. I have seen a lot of William Shatner’s acting in various shows and movies. I think after a while even when my best friend and I watched it when we were kids, I eventually concluded that show as my main Star Trek era to live in is the 23rd Century. I was in high school when Paramount was releasing all the shows and movies on DVD and I was fortunate to have enough money to buy all 3 seasons. So live long and prosper 🖖.

( and though I would say voyager is the weakest of the next generation TV shows, it gave us awesome Borg episodes and janway, who easily carried the series and earned her place among the greatest of captains. )
TOS (It's the original baby), TNG, DS9, Enterprise, Voyager (Janeway was kinda stupid) and nothing after that, because everything else after Enterprise sucked worse than Hillary Clinton on election night.
"Undoubtably" is not a word. It's "undoubtedly". And you got so much wrong about Enterprise I'm not even watching the rest. Riker wasn't making up the entire series - just the finale. Which no fans of Enterprise actually like - they did a horrible job with the ending.
The point made about TNG clicking perfectly in the middle of Season 3, IS SO TRUE! I took a break from the series before then and once I got to that area of season 3, I was hooked for good
I disagree, the Tribbles Short Trek episode easily takes the cake as the worst Star Trek of all times. Just for that one episode it should be the first, even though Calypso was fantastic.
I like... Voyager Next Generation Deep Space Nine Original series Enterprise Discovery Havent got to watch Picard enough to rank it, but Id put it near the top from what Ive seen so far.
Enterprise should be higher. The difference between it and discovery is that at least Enterprise actually improved a little after the first two seasons
Used to be Voyager was the worst of rhe franchise, worse then Enterprise and TAS.... then came the JJ Treks (which incluse the 2 new series and short). Worst writing and characters. Get a room, 5 illiterate people who have never watched Star Trek, 10 hits of blotter acid and an oz of weed. Record their conversation, that would make better scripts than what is being put out now.
Spock's brain was bad at least they didn't make his body bang into any doors or walls. That's why the original series was so good, the plots were bad but they didn't look to stupid whilst doing it.
Don't let a few klunkers make you forget they had some awesome plots: City on the Edge of Forever, Mirror Mirror, the Doomsday Machine, Errand of Mercy, the Naked Time, Patterns of Force, etc, etc. etc.
The Discovery review portion feels like a paid ad. Whether you like the show or not, there was no negative or any reason why it wasn't number 1. MY LIST of UNCONVENTIONAL TOP 5 Star Trek Original Series: 1. Court Martial S1E20 Kirk finds himself at odds against a supposed long-time friend who frames him for murder. It has great plot, courtroom drama, and the clever mic-prop (hallmark icon of stage-hands creating something out of nothing...the TRUE engineers of Trek!) 2. I, MUDD. S2E8 Roger Carmel reprises his role as Harry Mudd--iconic and lovable! Although the overlapping plot is how future androids will take over by giving humans everything they want, the TRUE magic of this episode is the revelation that a scoundrel mind doesn't have enough moxie to keep androids busy and thoughtful (Mudd has mental "ED" so to speak). What ensues is fun and funny! Also, more of the cast get pieces of screen time. 3 JOURNEY TO BABEL: S2E10 Classic TREK! Viewer not only get to see a KEY sequence during the early years of the Federation and how an alliance of planets function together, we get to see several aliens from these planets. The vicious, alien-sounding, rigid Andorians, the very rude, hostile Tellerites, and many others not specified. But the true enjoyment of this episode is the revelation of Spock's parents, and later, the vicious struggle between "duty" and "Love of family." All during a brutal space battle sequence! Terrific stuff! 4. THE ENTERPRISE INCIDENT! WOW! Terrific episode! The writers and directors start the episode by fooling us all! We are all duped for the first 1/3 of the episode just like all the characters! The reveal amidst the strain and stress of the plot is VERY satisfying! The episode also addresses a love sequence of aliens...which is more awkward than it is interesting. HOWEVER, this scene DOES open a possible explanation later--in the motion pictures--where Lt. Saavik may have come from!!! Here's the REAL trippy part **SPOILER POSSIBLY!!** If Saavik is the offspring of Spock and the female Romulan Commander, the she....Saavik...grows up to help on the expedition of the Genesis Planet...where Spock is regenerating with the planet. During the regeneration, Saavik "comforts" the aging Spock who goes thru Pon Far (the need to mate). That would mean, that "young Spock" has sex with his own half-romulan daughter via a temporal paradox. Take about 4 years to digest that! UGH> 5. AMOK TIME. No need to really address why this is the best. I mean, the musical score alone! However, a Vulcan Love story??? How can you beat that? Celia Lovsky as T'Pau!!! BRILLIANT! The entire guest cast were perfectly matched for the episode. Best friends fighting "dis match is to deh dead, Kurrk." Can't you STILL hear her uttering that line?!! And finally, Spock strangling his captain and best friend....it was gut-wrenching! The episode had everything from interesting comparisons in biology, to brilliant tactics in logic by a sly woman! And the writing!! "Stonn, she is yours. After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true." I mean....has there EVER been a galactic BURN as harsh as that one?? There you have it folks, MY top 5 Original Trek episodes and reasons why. The Ranking is not his. Its the IMDb Rating that is just outdated because you can't compare Enterprise, which aired before the Streaming Era, to Discovery which got the "yay modern Star Trek hype" .. I can't believe that any Trek prefers Discovery over Enterprise
Voyager is my favorite and probably the one I’ve rewatched the most, followed by Next Generation. I didn’t love the first season of Discovery, but thought the second season was much better. I would definitely watch a Pike spin-off.
I hope some people who watched this video and read the comments agree with me on this statement. In my humble opinion it feels like the person who made this list has never watched Star Trek: Discovery and only is repeating what CBS has said about the show in press releases. There is absolutely no way this show can’t be the worst one on this list. Don’t get me wrong I watch every episode and not all of the episodes are terrible but they are all a little more miss then hit a majority of the time. For every Bullseye like Captain Pike we are reminded of the absolute volcanic disaster that are STD Klingons, especially there good awful, slow, drawn out Klingon speaking. I don’t hate the show but it’s sure hard to watch the episodes or even looking forward to watching them all the time. I just wish it was more Seth Trek like, as in Seth McFarland’s The Orville. If that show was considered part of this list, it would easily be at #2 on my list with of course Next Generation head and shoulders above all others in the 1st spot.
TNG is the best of the star treks by far! There is just something about it that makes it believable! Voyager was a really good series too, with characters like captain Jane and 7 of 9! Plus traveling to the other side of the galaxy and struggling to get back. Q was a big part of it and the Borg pissing off the wrong species that almost wiped them out was extremely compelling. I enjoyed watching the Borg meet its match! With that said, voyager should be number 3!
It's not possible to take this list serious. Discovery is by far the worst Star trek series with all its plot holes, unlogical things and the defaced Klingons.
I dunno why Grunge has a boner for the writing either. It was a complete, COMPLETE betrayal of all things Rodenberry. A disgrace, made to milk idiots for money.
The animation in TAS was not substandard for the time, in fact they pioneered a few ways of animating that rapidly increased output and animation and media magazines of the time lavished praise on their backgrounds which, unlike Scooby Doo, did not repeat over and over.
Enterprise isn’t great, but it’s still better than Discovery... also if you think TOS is the best you’ve clearly only watched the good half... Even as a massive Trek fan some of them are unbearable.
cmtosh yeah, TOS has a couple of true gems, but over all it’s far from trek at its best. Enterprise definitely has its low points, but season 4 (and even a lot of 3) was genuinely good. I feel like if ENT ran for the 7 seasons the DS9 TNG and VOY got it would have come to be known as one of the best.
My list: #1: DS9 (best character development and story arcs) #2: TNG (Classic star Trek) #3: VOY (Really a good show about exploring the galaxy, it had a lot of variety from funny episodes to weird crazy aliens to the Borg and time travel. Deserves more love) #4: ENT (2 last seasons were much better and could have been a good show if not for the beginning) #5: PIC (It was not really "Star Trek" style but it was still a good series nonetheless) #6: Discovery (read below) Didn't include TOS since I haven't watched and don't want to make an opinion. I haven't finished TNG or watched much discovery but I watched enough to know 😂.
Wow what a terrible ranking. Enterprise was a very good series. Yes, the rub down scenes were gratuitous, but otherwise I loved the show. Discovery is also an excellent take on Star Trek.
This video makes the same mistake as everyone in the comments: your personal opinion is not the objective truth. Regardless of how much you hate Enterprise (or Discovery for that matter) it’s still Star Trek and it entertained hundreds of thousand fans. There is no “best” show, there are only “favorites”.
TNG = best, TOS, Voyager... The problem with Voyager, DS9, Enterprise. They never had the characters gel as a family. I never enjoyed the acting and the blend of the crews. Enterprise had a shot to be up there, but it doesnt have that spark of TNG. Each character on TNG worked together like a real crew. The audience could tell, what a great blend of characters.

I try to go back every now again but it's very cringe worthy. Nothing compared to the other series - though I'm not sure how Discovery gets so high.

Also, Star Trek is known for its contemporary orchestral music. So when making any sequels, you don't suddenly switch the genre to soft rock and get Rod Stewart involved.

I'm not sure I have a favorite. But I do think :Enterprise: shouldn't get the flack it does. It showed a time in the Star Trek universe we'd never seen before. The first portable energy weapons used by Earth's forces. The relationship between Humanity and the Vulcans. The first encounters with the Klingons and the Romulans. The dynamic between the Andorians and other species. The changes that occured in Vulcan society early on, and how it would later reflect on Spock's own era. I enjoyed the Episode 'Impulse' it had horror type atmosphere, and explored Vulcan physiology, the long lost crew behaving like zombies after coming into contact with hazardous chemicals. And as an extra bonus, T'Pol was a complex character, showing her relationship with the human crew, particularly Trip. Who some might consider and unlikely couple, but I think they balanced each other well. And the beautiful actress Jolene Blalock portrayed the Vulcan mentality well I think.

I don't know, I think it's growing towards that. The first two seasons of TOS were very much centered around Kirk, Spock and McCoy, the rest of the main cast didn't got that much focus until season 3, and even then, not that much.

Villy DS9 is my personal favorite. I know people want sugary sweet “the future is gonna be great” stuff but I think ST is best when it is gritty and there is conflict. It seems realistic that even though they solved a lot of problems, conflict is going to still exist in the future. I like Picard so far for that reason as well.

ENT stumbled but i thought it was incredible in the s3 and 4 (obviously we ignore the last ep). Also, ENT at its WORST is still light years ahead and better than ANY episode of STD or picard. Everyone can have an opinion and i love hearing others, but anyone claiming that STD is better than voyager or enterprise, well i question that person and am dismissing them (which i really hate doing, but this is literal blasphemy). I understand some dont love archer, but i have to argue that he was a great charismatic leader and captain and he was willing to do anything to get his team home and he reminds me alot of Sisko, just not as badass.

Read the novels for the Animated Series, they are better than the series. Stop insulting Enterprise, real fans like it. Discovery ignores canon, is badly acted to the point you cannot identity with the charectors and therefore the script ideas are wasted on it. For me enterprise is the best series. Yes it's different from other series but: How should the same Storytelling work without the Federation, without Federation Starfleet, without a Network of Starbases...... Enterprise had to show how the humanity started to become important in a galaxy dominated from other species and their conflicts.... and after this it had to show the way to the known institutions. Yes sometimes there had to be boring themes, but i think that every Episode has brought something important for the purpose of the series. Enterprise did what it had to do and i am sorry that they have cut it to 4 seasons and: Why didn't they give Archer his Federation Founding Speech ON SCREEN, instead of showing only his walk before.

@@andrewsokol2717 Yeah pretty much all of them were great, they got enough screen time to shine, despite having only 4 seasons instead of the 7 most other series had. And they didn´t got a single movie. I don´t want to say that the Next Gen Characters were bad, but they took a lot longer to establish such well flashed out characters. Especially Worf and O´Brien benefited (IMO) way more from their transitions to DS9 than from their first runs on TNG.
And there would have been enough opportunity to just go on with this journey to establish a on-screen canon birth-of-the-federation-story until it would have been in the state "needed" for the original series to start from. In my eyes they really should have given Enterprise at least another season to give the changes of the 3rd and 4th season an opportunity to pay off. Yeah, the first two seasons were a bit lame but i really liked the Xindi-Arc and the Diplomacy-connected events in season 4 and i would have loved to see the transition from a coalition with multiple indendent fleets into a single body working to defend all of the members against a first Klingon invasion before the Coalition becomes the Federation.

You fail to mention the best episode in the entire Star Trek The Next Generation... The Inner Light. Needless to say that this 125th episode is one of the major factors contribute to make ST:TNG as the best series of all time. Among the few episodes in the entire Star Trek universe that could make people numb mentally for few days. [ST:DS9 got The Visitor and In the Pale Moonlight, but in my personal opinion The Inner Light tops both of them.]

Arguably, my list of the favorite "trek" series is as follows:
6) Discovery - Arguably the worst Trek show ever. Boring episodes, lousy acting. And above all did not to justice to the other Star Trek series.
5) Star Trek: The Animated Series - While not being the best series and only ran for one season, it arguably had some of the best features to the series. Sadly the only thing that really kept it being better was the fact that Walter Keonig unfortunately didn't make an appearance in the show as Chekov from the original series.
4) Star Trek Voyager - While the show debuted something the previous shows had not.. Namely a female captain and a female semi-Borg character being added and an arguably handsome looking ship, the Voyager series was pretty okay actually. Some of the episodes were good while some were just plain boring, But in all honesty, it ranked far better than Discovery.
3) Star Trek the Original Series - While only running for 3 seasons, Star Trek set the tone for pretty much every other Star Trek series to come. With actors such as Will Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, James Doohan and of course, the first ever doctor in Starfleet, DeForest Kelley (rest in peace), thus series was arguably one of the best series around. Featuring some of the best episodes and a different theme for every show.. This series remains one of the iconic series from the franchise. Not to mention, some very memorable actors to ever grace the show during its run time.
2) Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Who could've figured that pulling together a run-down space station, add to it a Starfleet commander and a cast of assorted individuals such as a Bajoran first officer, a "trill" Science officer, a "frontier" Doctor, a shape-shifter security officer and a Ferengi bartender could've made for such an interesting and iconic series as Deep Space Nine. This was arguably one of the best series to date. Some of the best episodes featuring alien races never before seen in previous series.
And the top spot goes to:
1) Star Trek The Next Generation - This series was arguably the BEST series of the whole franchise. With a run of 7 seasons, a iconic starship and a whole cast of assorted actors such as Patick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, Michael Dorn, Brent Spiner, LeVar Burton and a cast of others, this series was the best.
You forgot the Short Treks on number 7 and Enterprise between 2 and 3, but other than that this is precisely my list as well.
Everybody who ranks the original series that high hasn't seen it for a few decades. It really hasn't aged well.

DS9 is usually slightly ahead of TNG for me because I like the conflict and long story arcs. I love how the values of the Federation are tested and how the people react. The actors for both are very high caliber, but I think the theater backgrounds for a lot of the DS9 cast was really able to shine with the setting and the dialog.

It really isn’t holding up well overtime to me. The older I get the better TNG gets, DS9 does not. Granted it had the best ending easily, but a lot of episodes are bad or pointless straight through 7 seasons. I have no interest in watching any episode with, Bashir, Obrian, Dax, Jake, or Command Sisko anymore, because when you figure out it’s always the same writing ploys with the main cast it gets really boring. Too many ferengi and mirror universe episodes as well and guess who carries EVERYTHING in the mirror universe episodes: Kira. Worf , the Klingons and Cardassians and the dominion war also.

As an over arching narrative DS9 is the best of trek. But as for getting warm and fuzzy and having emotional attachment to the characters, nothing can beat TNG. I have seen DS9 start to finish maybe 2 times. However I have watched watched every episode of TNG at least a dozen times. As I get older I find that I can rewatch TNG and (to a lesser degree) Voyager on near repeat. But DS9 takes a bit more to get through, which likely makes it the best trek, but not necessarily the most enjoyable trek.

DS9 is God like. I doubt there will ever be a Sci fi show that good. It's the depth of the characters and the scripts. It just blows my mind how good it is.
There are likable characters in discovery. However, I just don't like the story arc format, it really puts me off. I prefer treks that keep the story contained to one episode.

Enterprise wasn't very good, and DS9 is OVERrated. About a space station that goes nowhere. It had its excellent ups in its final seasons with the Dominion War but was not adventurous enough.
I would have swapped Enterprise with Animated series. Enterprise is a good series, compared to TNG and DS9 no, but it deserves more praise.
Enterprise did bring us one of the greatest Trek characters of all time, at least in my opinion that being Jeffery Combs as Commander Thy'lek Shran.

The decontamination chamber does make sense. You are going to alien worlds where you can potentially pick up something really nasty and spread it to the whole ship. I just wish that it wasn't over used like that, and I always figured that they just didn't care that much about near nudity in the future.
In the 60s it was believed that in the future the nudity would not be a problem. In the late 90s, nudity was not a problem. But in 2020 nudity is very problematic if associated with heterosexual relationships

The Original Series is my favorite one. I have seen a lot of William Shatner’s acting in various shows and movies. I think after a while even when my best friend and I watched it when we were kids, I eventually concluded that show as my main Star Trek era to live in is the 23rd Century. I was in high school when Paramount was releasing all the shows and movies on DVD and I was fortunate to have enough money to buy all 3 seasons. So live long and prosper 🖖.

@@andrewwebb7584 I can relate. For me it was the star wars prequels. Not great movies in any sense of the word but I do have a soft spot for them. ( and though I would say voyager is the weakest of the next generation TV shows, it gave us awesome Borg episodes and janway, who easily carried the series and earned her place among the greatest of captains. )

TOS (It's the original baby), TNG, DS9, Enterprise, Voyager (Janeway was kinda stupid) and nothing after that, because everything else after Enterprise sucked worse than Hillary Clinton on election night.

"Undoubtably" is not a word. It's "undoubtedly". And you got so much wrong about Enterprise I'm not even watching the rest. Riker wasn't making up the entire series - just the finale. Which no fans of Enterprise actually like - they did a horrible job with the ending.
The point made about TNG clicking perfectly in the middle of Season 3, IS SO TRUE! I took a break from the series before then and once I got to that area of season 3, I was hooked for good

I disagree, the Tribbles Short Trek episode easily takes the cake as the worst Star Trek of all times. Just for that one episode it should be the first, even though Calypso was fantastic.

TOS had that wonderful blend of Sci Fi and Horror that gripped me so hard when I was little. I’ll always love it the best

Used to be Voyager was the worst of rhe franchise, worse then Enterprise and TAS.... then came the JJ Treks (which incluse the 2 new series and short). Worst writing and characters.
Get a room, 5 illiterate people who have never watched Star Trek, 10 hits of blotter acid and an oz of weed. Record their conversation, that would make better scripts than what is being put out now.

Spock's brain was bad at least they didn't make his body bang into any doors or walls. That's why the original series was so good, the plots were bad but they didn't look to stupid whilst doing it.
Don't let a few klunkers make you forget they had some awesome plots: City on the Edge of Forever, Mirror Mirror, the Doomsday Machine, Errand of Mercy, the Naked Time, Patterns of Force, etc, etc. etc.

MY LIST of UNCONVENTIONAL TOP 5 Star Trek Original Series:
1. Court Martial S1E20 Kirk finds himself at odds against a supposed long-time friend who frames him for murder. It has great plot, courtroom drama, and the clever mic-prop (hallmark icon of stage-hands creating something out of nothing...the TRUE engineers of Trek!)
2. I, MUDD. S2E8 Roger Carmel reprises his role as Harry Mudd--iconic and lovable! Although the overlapping plot is how future androids will take over by giving humans everything they want, the TRUE magic of this episode is the revelation that a scoundrel mind doesn't have enough moxie to keep androids busy and thoughtful (Mudd has mental "ED" so to speak). What ensues is fun and funny! Also, more of the cast get pieces of screen time.
3 JOURNEY TO BABEL: S2E10 Classic TREK! Viewer not only get to see a KEY sequence during the early years of the Federation and how an alliance of planets function together, we get to see several aliens from these planets. The vicious, alien-sounding, rigid Andorians, the very rude, hostile Tellerites, and many others not specified. But the true enjoyment of this episode is the revelation of Spock's parents, and later, the vicious struggle between "duty" and "Love of family." All during a brutal space battle sequence! Terrific stuff!
4. THE ENTERPRISE INCIDENT! WOW! Terrific episode! The writers and directors start the episode by fooling us all! We are all duped for the first 1/3 of the episode just like all the characters! The reveal amidst the strain and stress of the plot is VERY satisfying! The episode also addresses a love sequence of aliens...which is more awkward than it is interesting. HOWEVER, this scene DOES open a possible explanation later--in the motion pictures--where Lt. Saavik may have come from!!! Here's the REAL trippy part **SPOILER POSSIBLY!!** If Saavik is the offspring of Spock and the female Romulan Commander, the she....Saavik...grows up to help on the expedition of the Genesis Planet...where Spock is regenerating with the planet. During the regeneration, Saavik "comforts" the aging Spock who goes thru Pon Far (the need to mate). That would mean, that "young Spock" has sex with his own half-romulan daughter via a temporal paradox. Take about 4 years to digest that! UGH>
5. AMOK TIME. No need to really address why this is the best. I mean, the musical score alone! However, a Vulcan Love story??? How can you beat that? Celia Lovsky as T'Pau!!! BRILLIANT! The entire guest cast were perfectly matched for the episode. Best friends fighting "dis match is to deh dead, Kurrk." Can't you STILL hear her uttering that line?!! And finally, Spock strangling his captain and best friend....it was gut-wrenching! The episode had everything from interesting comparisons in biology, to brilliant tactics in logic by a sly woman! And the writing!! "Stonn, she is yours. After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true." I mean....has there EVER been a galactic BURN as harsh as that one??

The Ranking is not his. Its the IMDb Rating that is just outdated because you can't compare Enterprise, which aired before the Streaming Era, to Discovery which got the "yay modern Star Trek hype" .. I can't believe that any Trek prefers Discovery over Enterprise

Voyager is my favorite and probably the one I’ve rewatched the most, followed by Next Generation. I didn’t love the first season of Discovery, but thought the second season was much better. I would definitely watch a Pike spin-off.

I hope some people who watched this video and read the comments agree with me on this statement. In my humble opinion it feels like the person who made this list has never watched Star Trek: Discovery and only is repeating what CBS has said about the show in press releases. There is absolutely no way this show can’t be the worst one on this list.
Don’t get me wrong I watch every episode and not all of the episodes are terrible but they are all a little more miss then hit a majority of the time. For every Bullseye like Captain Pike we are reminded of the absolute volcanic disaster that are STD Klingons, especially there good awful, slow, drawn out Klingon speaking.
I don’t hate the show but it’s sure hard to watch the episodes or even looking forward to watching them all the time.
I just wish it was more Seth Trek like, as in Seth McFarland’s The Orville. If that show was considered part of this list, it would easily be at #2 on my list with of course Next Generation head and shoulders above all others in the 1st spot.
TNG is the best of the star treks by far! There is just something about it that makes it believable! Voyager was a really good series too, with characters like captain Jane and 7 of 9! Plus traveling to the other side of the galaxy and struggling to get back. Q was a big part of it and the Borg pissing off the wrong species that almost wiped them out was extremely compelling. I enjoyed watching the Borg meet its match! With that said, voyager should be number 3!

It's not possible to take this list serious. Discovery is by far the worst Star trek series with all its plot holes, unlogical things and the defaced Klingons.
I dunno why Grunge has a boner for the writing either. It was a complete, COMPLETE betrayal of all things Rodenberry. A disgrace, made to milk idiots for money.
The animation in TAS was not substandard for the time, in fact they pioneered a few ways of animating that rapidly increased output and animation and media magazines of the time lavished praise on their backgrounds which, unlike Scooby Doo, did not repeat over and over.

Enterprise isn’t great, but it’s still better than Discovery... also if you think TOS is the best you’ve clearly only watched the good half... Even as a massive Trek fan some of them are unbearable.
cmtosh yeah, TOS has a couple of true gems, but over all it’s far from trek at its best. Enterprise definitely has its low points, but season 4 (and even a lot of 3) was genuinely good. I feel like if ENT ran for the 7 seasons the DS9 TNG and VOY got it would have come to be known as one of the best.

#1: DS9 (best character development and story arcs)
#2: TNG (Classic star Trek)
#3: VOY (Really a good show about exploring the galaxy, it had a lot of variety from funny episodes to weird crazy aliens to the Borg and time travel. Deserves more love)
#4: ENT (2 last seasons were much better and could have been a good show if not for the beginning)
#5: PIC (It was not really "Star Trek" style but it was still a good series nonetheless)

Wow what a terrible ranking. Enterprise was a very good series. Yes, the rub down scenes were gratuitous, but otherwise I loved the show. Discovery is also an excellent take on Star Trek.
This video makes the same mistake as everyone in the comments: your personal opinion is not the objective truth. Regardless of how much you hate Enterprise (or Discovery for that matter) it’s still Star Trek and it entertained hundreds of thousand fans. There is no “best” show, there are only “favorites”.
You didn't need to make this list. Just start with the most recent at worst and work backward in release date to the first one.

They never had the characters gel as a family.
I never enjoyed the acting and the blend of the crews. Enterprise had a shot to be up there, but it doesnt have that spark of TNG. Each character on TNG worked together like a real crew. The audience could tell, what a great blend of characters.

My least favorite is Discovery. By far. It be so far down on this list that it's not even on this list. Because it is not Star Trek. It is a dumpster fire.

You already messed up with your bottom choice. Enterprise season 3 and 4 is better than anything Discovery or Picard will ever pinch out.
Picard seems decent, don't judge it too harshly yet. Discovery is a complete shitshow though, should be the worst on this list by a wide margin.
@@fatalshore5068 I'm hoping Picard will pick up, because so far it seems like the same dystopian crap as Discovery. I personally hated that officers and former officers of Starfleet now suddenly smoke (something people seemed to forget it existed in previous series), curse like teenagers, and are so casual to senior officers (I mean, Riker would barely call Picard by name but Raffi would call him JL?? Dafuq??).

Have been watching Star Trek since it’s premier. I liked Enterprise and it has a good cast. It was bad writing that killed that show.
