Had one of these in the avant model, with the big three litre tedious up front, Quattro, B&O, full leather, matrix LEDs, yada yada yada. It was a very, very good car. Only got rid of it because I’m an idiot and can’t hang onto cars for more than a couple of years.
Unfortunately Audi drivers get a bad rap (often with good reason) but in Avant guise this is a very decent machine as an all-rounder both inside and out (not cheap for the more desirable 40 petrol or diesel mind).
Ordered mine in September and getting it next month 😊. Went for the 40 TFSI avant and got a great lease deal. Hopefully worth the wait. I don't really like the 3 series, probs better to drive, but not a fan of the new digital dash and wheels too small. The Merc is nice but not worth the cost and feel like the quality has gone down hill. Like you say, the A4 is a good middle man car. Great build quality, punchy engine and looks mint with the 19 inch wheels
I would say yes for the price but I ended up going it back as I found the car really uncomfortable. For some reason the pedals are too offset and I got really bad leg ache. For the money I was paying, and for most people, I would say it was a fantastic deal
Octavia VRs estate - last one of the mk4 model before the face lifts came out. More power, more kit but not as quiet and refined. Some people thought I was crazy but the VRs is deffo more of a driver's car.
2:16, yup the buldge is the worst. It's usually where I rest my foot in other cars and it just feels so annoying in the A4. I drive a Seat Leon and find its driving position more comfortable compared to my dad's A4. Haven't noticed the pedal offset though
It is almost fashionable to put Audi down, even compared to other VAG peers. Choose the right model, new or used, with a good engine and there are some decent understated cars.
It is easily the best looking modern car out there barring some exotic hyper special car. It is one of the few modern cars that actually holds its head up in the looks department compared to classic cars.
Audi have always been the well made solid choice. Any arguments against their reliability are mostly due to driver error, poor quality fuel in these really very finely tuned cars. How can that many cab drivers in east Europe who runs these things to starship miles be wrong? Like my 2019 A6, it’s just very good at everything and so easy and pleasant to live with. Their engineering and quality is exemplary; they age in terms of design and wear so incredibly well, and much better than Mercs and BMWs, and anything else on the road really.
As a child I was told that Germans make the beat cars and Audi, BMW and Mercedes are benchmark for entry level luxury. Then why so much hate against these cars now? Are they really bad? Then which car in that segment is worth a buy at A4 price point?
Sorry! It's pretty decent all told, it does a great job of cutting out noise from the world outside - the loudest thing in the cabin is usually thudding from the suspension/wheels, especially on versions with bigger alloys - Tim

You're having a laugh. As someone who has owned two Audi A4's, I can tell you they are junk. Anyone who buys an Audi with their own money in 2024 and keeps it longer than two years, needs their head examined. Just look at the Which 2024 Car Brand Reliability Report and see Audi close to the bottom. The German auto industry has allowed the creative thinkers and costs reduction teams to flush the quality down the toilet.
@@akj2387 All I can remember was that is was manufactured in 2006. The first thing to fall apart on the brand new car was the dual mass flywheel, it was always belching smoke out of the exhaust.The attitude of the UK dealer was terrible. The only thing that was OK was the interior.
@@raycollington4310 Yeah the B8 was known to be super unrelaible. I've got a 2017 A4 1.4 Sport, brilliant car. Interior is sick too, everyone that's been in it said that it's sick. Fact is, only paid 18k for it too, 3 year old car.

I don't want to broken down with another engine failure waiting for the tow truck while I admire the luxury interior and listen to the awesome stereo. I also don't want any Audi dealer attitude or poor support. Just look at the RS engines reliability debacle as a classic example of what overcomplicated junk looks like. Boring is good.

Im never getting an audi without warranty again. That said they give an amazing ride and the quattro is unbeatable.

Had a 3 series it was awful so uncomfortable so il agree haha. Also had a c class i loved that but unreliable and boring to drive
