    One day I was playing Black ops and it was in the Vietnam section. Que my Vietnam vet father walking in. He told me lunch was ready then looked at the screen. He sat down, watched for a bit, and then started critiquing me by saying stuff like, "Quit running around so much! Stay in one spot!" Or, "Quit wasting all your bullets! Three shot burst Jack, three shot bursts!" I finally gave him the controller. He went prone and stayed in that place for an hour. My dad is so cool!

      You're lucky, my grandpa was a Vietnam vet and he was so traumatized, that we lose him if we mention Vietnam. Like we could be talking and if he hears Vietnam, he walks into his room and stays there for like 30minutes. To 2 hours

      +TheMegaBob My dad got pretty messed up when I was watching Full Metal jacket. It was the sniper scene, he walked in and immediately walked out. He's usually perfectly fine though. He answers all my questions. I'm really sorry about your Grandpa.

    My oldest nephew has been playing the original Doom since he was too young to sit up on his own (he has autism and it effects his physical coordination) His father would put him in a chair with a slatted back, run a belt through the slats, and buckle it around his waist so he could remain sitting upright. Then, he would work the direction controls, directed by his son, and the child would press the fire button to kill the demons.
    Side note: They say violent video games make kids violent... Lies!! This child has been playing Doom and other FPS games since he was only about a year old. He's never been in a fight at school, or done anything more violent than smack his big sister on the arm when she was picking on him. He's been out of high school for a few years now. Nicest kid you'll ever meet ^ _ ^

      UGU Zach They aren't technically wrong. An Hour of gaming does more damage to your eyes(especially if sitting close to the tv), your hands/fingers, and your posture/spine than 5 hours of TV watching. So maybe realize they are actually being serious when they say that. Now it is slightly hypocritical because any large amount of staring at the TV regardless of what it is, is damaging. You are obviously a kid and naturally you won't see it this way, but perhaps you should rethink things.

    It's really jealous in the comments about their parents playing video games with them because my mom doesn't like video games. She usually say to me that: "Don't play video games. The company only makes them for money!" My reaction was like: "If the company makes video games only for money, why do they still update the game? I could say that for the company of Flappy Bird!" The reason why she started to dislike video games because when she was back in high school, their school said to them about the false information about video games. They said that "video games are useless," "video games rotten the kid's brain" and etc. Though, she has positive attitudes like being caring and supportive to us.

    • @natascha2859
      @natascha2859 7 років тому +1

      Vincent Cardona what kinda weird mum do you have?? They do make the games for money. And they update them to get more people to play which equals more money. Your mum is absolutely right, i dunno why it's a bad thing to make something for money. Apple makes phones for money etc.

    Number 10 can be dangerous actually if the gamer gets too carried away focused on the game, if you're gonna feed your baby do it right honestly

    • @TheJohnboyhunter
      @TheJohnboyhunter 8 років тому +2

      Not really, you give bairns a specific amount of milk, because you know how much they usually drink. Sitting feeding a baby can be pretty boring because it can take time and 'you' as a parent need something to do in the mean time, but you certainly wouldn't set out to play something that's going to engross you too much, especially if it's in the middle of the night. Also you aren't going to forget that you have a child in your arms anyway, they can be pretty heavy, especially as they get older. The average weight of a newborn is around 7.5lbs/ 3.5-4kgs and mine were both heavier than that at birth. Take 4 or 5 bags of sugar and put them in a bag, rest that in your arms while you play and tell me if you forget it's there. Oh babies move and make noises, they also fart, shit and puke too, you'll definitely not forget about them when that happens.. Take it from me, I'm a dad (twice over) and a gamer.

      CLOROX BLEACH Are you being a lazy,freeloading piece of shit who simply won't go out and look for a job because he wants to stay at home and play video games? I'm in my late 20s and I've had a job since I was 14 because if I wanted to have a car or buy games etc then I was gonna have to pay for it all myself but I also wasn't lazy and I had a dad who liked games he just wanted me to have good values. So yea go get a job and sure there's a difference between you literally just being too young, and you just being a lazy shit. I have no way of knowing which you are but you certainly sound like a kid, so maybe instead of shitting on your dad you realize he is trying to get you to have decent values and to be a respectable member of society.

    I'm pretty much the only Gamer in my family, but a while back (during summer visitation) I picked up a collection of old Sega games bundled into one disk on the PS3. I was scrolling through them and my father decided to sit and talk for a bit. When I passed Golden Axe he told me to stop and scroll back, then he started talking about how he used to play it in the Arcade when he was younger. So we did some co-op and he kicked my ass score wise. After that we preceded to play all the Golden Axe games (except the shitty remake).
    Just saying, having a parent with at least some Video Game experience is quite the gift, these kids are lucky

    My parents have no interest in games at all. To be fair back when they were teens, TV first came to Indonesia in 1960, so they never really played any. They don't have anything against it, though. But they do get concerned about my brother and I spending too much time on games and not studying, because let's be honest, we can all get carried away.

She mainly plays Terraria with me and my brother, as that is one of two games we own that can hold a minimum of three players on the same console. When I was 3 I first started playing Zelda: OOT (we also had Majora's mask but it gave me nightmares...).
    My dad would patiently watch me play and guide me; I couldn't read at all, I was so bad at reading I told my dad I could write my name in the new save creator. I remember him laughing when he saw "BAa" written as the save file. He would read and guide me on my adventures through Hyrule. I'm smiling now thinking back on it. Crying now.
    God, I can't type...
    Gah, it makes me so happy to think about the time that dad spent with me. He encouraged me to learn to read, but I was resistant, so he stopped reading for me. He bought me Winnie the Pooh books so I could learn to read. When I wasn't playing, I was trying to learn to read. Of couse my dad would still watch me play and guide me. He told me that the colored words the character say are important and I should learn those. It wasn't long before I was reading at a 4th grade level, granted some time did pass. At this point, I still did not save Hyrule. I would often go to the Kakariko Village and pretend I was building roofs.
    Zelda was the foundation of my learning and my relationship with my father. I had so much fun, something I wish I had more of today. My days feel dull and repetitive. Of course, I'm excited for some things, like going to Japan this summer, but I've been getting so little sleep with work and school. The other day, I thought myself, "After I visit Japan, can I finally die?" Life has not been cruel to me. I was born very fortunate, but life is full of pain, stress, and regret. I truly only live for these small moments in my life where I feel great happiness. School has been really hard recently... Brought some silly thoughts to mind. My teacher must have noticed my deprivation, and after her class she held her hand for a high five. I high fived her and smiled. I began walking away, but she held her palm out with fingers facing up. She gave me a serious face and powerful eye contact. She was imploring me to hold grab her hand. I grabbed her hand, curious. "Good job, Cameron." I have a breakdown everytime I think about it. The fact that people care for me hurts and makes me so happy at the same time.
    Videogames have really held me together. I wish I could play games with my dad, like the old days. We're both so busy, and I'll moving out next year. I'm afraid of the future. I'm so unsure of it all. I know I want to keep on living, for the small things, but I just miss it all so much.

    my favourite thing to do is play halo 4 on 360 w my mum and dad, I play with my mum more but it's great, wen we started all she did was walk into corners all the time but I helped her learn, we have been playing for 4 years starting at CE anaversery and for the past year she's had a gold account and is level 58 at the moment, I'm 118 and have a challenge to get to max 130 before Christmas, I'm so proud of her and we now play Spartan ops, some of her best acheavments are starting solo play to try to get a sense of direction (but she's pretty good anyway!), getting better than me at using wraiths and scoped weapons, and a smaller acheavment is killing watchers because she's not so good with moving targets. we started halo because her complaint was that she couldn't tell what where friends and what where foe, so we started halo because we kill 10 foot tall aliens and she gets to wear pink armour! it's made my gaming experience one of the best I could have hoped for.

    I've been gaming all my life and while I'm not a parent, I have bought up my brothers since my step-father passed away. They're 15 and 11 years old at this time but they've both been gaming since they were, like, 3. They game because I game and they look up to me. Gaming is the way that we all just sit down and spend some valuable time together. It's something special and they know that. Their love for gaming is now stronger than what mine is which I didn't think was possible, but work gets in the way. Either way, they're closer to me than anyone else in the family because of video games (and the fact my room has all the consoles and PC in).

    My grandfather is in his early fifties at the moment. When I was around five years old, I used to watch him play video games like it was a cartoon. I used to always tell him what to do, and he usually listened. He even played Cars and Dora with me on the game cube when I was young as well. My parents aren't around, and to have him so committed to having and spending time with me at that age and still now means a lot. I kick his butt at Call of Duty, sometimes. We've played Uncharted series, God Of War, Batman Arkham series, Dead Space, so on! We still do to this day as well.

    I know my love for video games is seriously fueled by my parents. I remember sitting down next to my mom while she was playing an rpg, and I would help figure out whatever puzzle or roadblock was in her way. And I remember being nicknamed the walking talking strategy guide since I would always remember what went on in a game. Gamer parents are awesome.

    It's an awesome thing to be a parent who games, and when the whole family gets in.... it's brilliant. Me, my husband, our daughter and my brothers. She loves it and it's amazing to watch her taste develop, plus throwing her a gaming party where the adults were in more costume than the kids was truly a sight to behold.

    so im a girl and im a daddy's girl i love my dad... and my mom but shes not big into gaming. so i grew up with both of my parents in the army im 13 and they were in the army for 10 after i was born and a few more years before hand as well. so when dad was home from being gone for 3 months me and him would sit down on the couch dad would pick a game for the Xbox(usually Halo 1,2,or 3), have me sit in his lap and we would play the until i fell asleep. some of my most fondest memories was those times me and my dad did that. now i have 2 younger brothers than i share that experience with along with my dad and mom some times in the back ground telling us how to play and screams at the jumpscares.

Gaming (PC or otherwise, though I'm biased) is a great hobby to share with your kids. And PC building together is even better (even if little fingers sometimes snap a DIMM module while installing it) ...He is 11yo now and he still brags about it at school...

    Can't compete with the last one on the list, for sure. I play games with my kid and record videos of them to upload to our youTube accounts. Let's me relive our time together during visitation, since he lives with his mom. Not the same as actually spending time with him, but it helps for those times when he's not here. It's something he wants to do when he's visiting, and we usually play a lot of games anyway. Recording it just gives me that memory-refresher.
