I stopped doing “talking” phases all together. Committing to a gf is not a marriage. It’s the smallest commitment to let a woman know you take getting to know her seriously. Too many woman have let men get too comfortable and entitled to tell them to their face that they can’t ask for anything in return. “I lose respect for a woman that needs to have stuff reciprocated”… then we’re not compatible 🤷🏽‍♀️

@@cindyben3089 you called talking a stage of dating. To clarify “dating” for me is the intentional courtship before a commitment. Why does there need to be an extra ambiguous stage added? That doesn’t necessarily mean that you go on 1 date at a time but it does mean that either we’re progressing or going our separate ways. Talking IMO allows men to idle in your life. Labels for me are important and they stop men from using that ambiguity to their advantage and wasting your time

I think people also have this mindset that because these people are rich beyond measure that they can have free rein over all. That’s not true. Oprah might be self-serving, but she's done her bit and mentored so many. So on and so forth. Black people need to realize, we're people like everyone else. But because we put so much burden on a few, we cut them off at the ankles - and then we have no one at all. Take it all with a grain of salt, and don't depend on anyone. Instead put it on yourself to create and this way every support that comes you way will be a bonus.

I think it should be clear that Mo'Nique had no issues until she was being PRESSURED to do the promotions. When they asked the first two times SHE SAID SHE TOLD THEM she was on FAMILY TIME. As they proceeded to PUSH THE ISSUE, that was when she started asking WHAT IS THE OFFER... Great job Jessie but I believe this is important. Also, I believe, the WAY Oprah addressed the issue or failed to is why she is being "blamed"... all she did was DEFEND HERSELF. Imagine if she had said, "I stepped in and assisted when called upon but I am disappointed that this was their experience, as one of the producers that was not my area of focus but it should have never happened that way" but she didn't she simply defended herself and showed up the hero... I think that is what Mo'Nique was saying. Just a thought

What about Lee Daniels and Tyler Perry though???? They haven't addressed any of this at all. Once again, a black woman is getting the majority of the heat and being left to defend herself. While the black men get off Scot-free.

@@NamasteInYourLane are those two also on this production? Wow... didnt realize that. If that's the case, fair enough. I'm not saying Oprah should take all the responsibility, all I'm saying is she could've said more than self defense... uniting with the cast against those responsible... but perhaps that's what she did, the best way she.knew how. Thanks!

    • @parkerisles7256

That’s really all she had to say, that it was unacceptable that any of it happened. Even if people are trying to hold all the producers accountable (which is fair), I am still side eyeing Oprah because she is the most easily accessible person in power for the cast to reach out to, is the face of the producers (her name is first in the trailer/been doing promo with the cast) and has been in the media/entertainment industry since the late 1970s. It’s unheard of that a film with a $100 million budget doesn’t have craft services, pays poorly, doesn’t have a travel coordinator/on-set transportation etc.

I think Oprah is definitely being unfairly blamed in this instance. First off, Oprah is on a TEAM of producers. A LOT of people are involved in producing a big budget film like this one. She said early on that her role was primarily promotion. I feel very confident in saying that Oprah was NOT a line producer. Her job was not to handle logistics and day to day operations (i.e. cars, food, trailers). Which is why when she was made aware of it, because again- it was not her job- she had it handled. Do we honestly believe that she didn't care about the ladies having food and trailers? Big named ladies at that?? It's not even logical. Do we believe that big named producers like Spielberg (also on this film), Michael Bay or James Cameron are down there to craft services setting up things?? No they aren't. And that wasn't her job either. ---This is a Warner Bros production. I've personally never heard anyone involved with an OWN production (e.g. cast from Greenleaf or Queen Sugar) say they didn't have basics like food or trailers.
And those of us who have seen Oprah’s productions and events since the 90s, knows that this isn’t even on brand for her. When Oprah is PERSONALLY overseeing things on her own productions, she’s very detailed. She doesn’t half step.
    This is a studio issue.

I think for some reason people (the broader public) didn't take Mo'Nique seriously. They were 🤡 her! So, after every Black woman who spoke up after Mo'Nique, I wonder (every time) why didn't ppl take Monique as seriously as you? Is it because she was a comedian AND a Black woman? Is it because she speaks a certain way? Perceived class? Maybe it's a combination of all of the above I don't know. I also wonder if people are taking Mo'Nique more seriously today in relation to all the other women speaking up since or if it's just fake lip service.

I think most people like compassion. Monique is a very direct person you either love or hate her. A lot of ppl like to sugar coat and use sympathy. Instead of listening to Monique message they wanted to sympathize with her but couldn’t because she was not emotional. I always stood with Monique because I’m around direct people all the time. When you’re around people like that you learn to listen to the message without your feelings clouding judgement.

The fact that these producers have been part of huge films means they know better when it comes to how actors etc are treated. That’s why they kind of made O the face of the production. Warner Bros?? Warner Bros? The WB that has been around since the 1920s and still able to stay afloat in a very precarious economic climate? This treatment of the black actors was wilfully cruel, @TheJessieWoo ❤❤❤

Unpopular opinion. I think Taraji should have waited afterwards to voice her valid complaints because the negative press is hurting the movie and it's dimming Fantasia's moment too.
However, the disappointment may come from the fact that a Black women of Oprah's statue is present and these Black Women are still experiencing substandard treatment. They may blackball her after this.

38:30 I have been wondering this for A WHILE. I never heard anyone say anything bad about working with him and I was always curious about the pay and the culture (I'm from the NYC and now South Florida industry). I have a theory as to why that is: because Tyler Perry shoots his movies in 2-3 weeks, instead of your typical 8-12 weeks, he is saving millions of dollars of set time. So its absolutely NOTHING for him to take 50k-100k of those savings and spoil your cast and crew. Which is great. BUT... Its good and bad. Not taking the proper time to film, can leave you with a lot of goofs and mistakes that other films just don't have. For example, in "a fall from grace", the boom pole was in the shots, in the background, extras were drinking out of empty glasses, eating with no food on their forks... when you rush, you make mistakes. Also, we all know TP doesn't spend longer than 12 seconds on hair and makeup. So. There are drawbacks. Don't want to spend the time and money, then you end up with a subpar product.

Unintentionally revealed: he has money to fly or drive to see a woman, for quality food from supermarkets, restaurants (incl/ delivery), but will NOT exert energy/effort FOR her. Hey Jessie! I watched Black Cake and loved it. Couldn’t stand the non authentic Jamaican patois but I loved the storyline. I’m looking forward to your review. If you liked Black Cake, I want to recommend another series called Three Little Birds that beautifully tells the story of the windrush generation and their experiences after travelling from Jamaica (and other Caribbean islands) to the UK in the 1950’s. It’s shot well and even though season 1 focuses on Jamaica, I’m pretty sure the series will expand to tell the stories of other islands as well. Hoping you are able to watch. It was difficult for me to find it because it a British series on itv but if you’re able to somehow find it, I highly recommend! ❤

Thank you ! Finally a content creator that does their research before just jumping on the bandwagon and trashing Oprah. Oprah definitely bears some responsibility but she is getting ALL the blame (especially from our own community). I find it interesting that people are having a hard time saying the other producers names. I hate to say it but it’s giving that people are scared to call out men. I understand Monique wanting to hold Oprah to task, that’s fine, but when Sydney chimed in I was hoping he was going to call out Steven Spielberg and Quincy Jones.
I was never one of those people that considered Oprah powerful and certainly not Hollywood powerful. IMO, Oprah made her wealth by staying away from Hollywood - they never liked nor respected her. Keeping her show in Chicago insulated her. Throughout her career she’s always been disrespected by white and black media. Hell, if she was powerful the other producers (or their PR teams) would have released a statement to back her up. Because if Steven Spielberg would’ve been getting this heat, all the production and distribution companies involved would’ve released a statement apologizing
