Yep it was better than trying to form some semblance of a defense and letting up the TD. Giving up half of a distance (which is like a yard of 2) is better than 6 points
That second clip, the offical wasn't getting in the way, he was trying to allow them to spike the ball. The offical has to touch the ball before the start of each play.
@@KRoyski The ref gotta officiate the game so everything is like clockwork as if the teams were allowed to spot the football, what would stop them from setting it past the first down line/goal line?
Yeah, it's not even that the official has to just touch the ball, he has to pick it up and place it on the ground where the runner was officially down to spot it. If the players did it themselves they'd do it like they did here, where they tried lining up with it at the 23 instead of the 26 where Prescott officially gave himself up and should have been marked at. The official actually was rushing it so much for the Cowboys, he didn't move the ball back all the way, just to the 24. But everyone knows to hand the ball to the official in that situation. They were in the way of the official, not the other way around.
What also could be included here was the 1981 game between the Colts and Patriots. Both teams went 2-14 that year. On the Patriots kickoff, the Colts return man fielded the ball at about the two yard line and he just stood there. The Patriots special teamers came in and tackled him. I still remember the highlight from HBO'S "Inside the NFL," where the narrator announced: "The Colts forgot how to run."
the fake punt is more like a mistake snap it's not that special in terms of plays to me but everyone says its the worst play ever, it still isnt very exciting or game breaking like Brett Favre's last pass
For those who don't understand, the goal was to keep his teammate in the end zone and get a touchback, then end the game. His teammate, though, had already left the end zone, so it would have been a safety, and to make it worse... he accidentally knocked the ball out of his teammate's hand... and you know the rest of that story.
I guess you didn't listen to the coach after the game. He wasn't suppose to hike the ball. That is why the QB for that play looked up at the center like, what are you doing?
I knew a guy who lined up on the wrong side of the ball in high school, but that was because he had a concussion and forgot if we were on offense or defense
@Ibrahim Sohaib That was a preseason game in 2000, so it didn't even matter who won or lost. Those were 4th stringers out there. It definitely isn't the worst play when it was in preseason.
Cowboys wasn’t even a bad play, dak just needed to slide sooner and hand the ball to the ref instead of his linemen. They would have been in a good scoring position if it was executed better
I remember Leon Lett‘s run towards Bills Endzone at Super Bowl XXVII Cowboys vs Bill as he was „intercepted“ shortly before TD by Don Beebe as we was slow down his speed to provoke the Bills by sway around the Ball!
The first one brought back a bad memory. When I played high school ball, we were trailing by 2 points late in the game. On 3rd down we stopped them and were bringing in the punt return team. However one of our defenders ran off on the wrong side of the field. We got flagged then never got the ball back. We lost the game as well as the conference championship.
The best thing to do when you intercept a ball in the end zone while winning is to get down so its a touchback, the player that was tackling the other player was trying to just get him to go down.
0:36 i do that in madden all the time, its to re set the play and get better defense package on the field. there at the 2 yard line so yeah that’s smart if you ask me
Redskins v Eagles at 2:36 mark. This (21-22) season they made a big deal about the whistle-blowing ending a play, "and a flag is down" clock should have stopped even though he never clocked the ball.
They were never meant to snap the ball. It was supposed to be a weird formation to see if they could draw someone offside and if not, just punt it after the delay of game penalty. Center was a replacement player and snapped it anyway for some reason. It’s why you see the QB look so panicked in the replay; he never expected to receive the ball.
5:19 - I think this is the first time seeing this play that I have realized it would have been a safety to end the play in the endzone. (It still was the better option at the time though and it is understandable why 52 is trying to prevent him from leaving the endzone.)
I heard it was a trap to pull the other team offsides, but one or more of the players was a substitute, wasn't in on the plan, and botched it? Apparently need everyone to know what they're doing for a trick play to work, or they just trick their own team.
My favorite thing about the 49ers vs cowboys final play of the game is how confident Tony Romo is in the Cowboys only to immediately realize “oh they fucked it up “
Oooof… that last one… how did that NY player not recognize that the person he was actively trying to tackle was his own teammate I don’t know if he was trying to trigger a touchback… I’m not even sure it would’ve worked that way… But damn… that must’ve been an awkward moment back at the sideline…

That idiot at the end who tackles his own teammate knocking him back into the end zone causing the fumble as unbelievable. All he had to do is let him run out and fall or get tackled and the game is over
I don’t think the tanehill pass would qualify here. Weather conditions were terrible and nobody could hold onto or throw properly cuz that was a down pour I think? Still funny though 🤣
I'm tired of the clip with the Colts lining up to the right and the Seahawks getting intercepted at the goal line, not because they aren't boneheaded moves. I just really hate Chris Collinsworth's commentary.
Please explain how those plays, especially the Colts one, are not boneheaded. I can at least entertain an argument for Seattle, but that Colts play is easily among the dumbest calls in NFL history.
0:36 context for this clip
The ravens defense wasn't properly set so they took a neutral zone infraction to fix it
Yep it was better than trying to form some semblance of a defense and letting up the TD. Giving up half of a distance (which is like a yard of 2) is better than 6 points
Then they got a 12 men on the field penalty right after this. 😂
"GET FUCKING SET!"

Seems like there needs to be a penalty for deliberately drawing a penalty

Chuck Clark did that because the Bills were going to snap it before the Ravens were set. Funny play but smart.

The best thing to do when you intercept a ball in the end zone while winning is to get down so its a touchback, the player that was tackling the other player was trying to just get him to go down.
He didn't get it in the end zone, he intercepted it at the 1 so if he didn't fumble it would've been a saftey.
