I love her take on the “relationship” between Cortana and Master Chief. It’s not sexual in nature but something deeper. She has been the closest person to him that he has ever allowed anyone and he has seen her “mature” and seen her at her most vulnerable. She also has literally been in his head and through their time together has seen the man behind the mental conditioning. That has created that incredible bond that I think they are soulmates. It’s like in that Finding Hope teaser they did for Halo Infinite, having that moment where he opens his hand and you see the AI chip and that once he installs it you see that message “AI not detected” with that little beat where you can feel the ping of loss knowing that the loss of Cortana has left a piece of him missing just like how you feel that twinge of loss when you don’t have that special someone in your life anymore. As weird as it is this to me seems like the most honest and well evolved “love” story in video games. She isn’t a princess that needs saving, they are both well written and strong characters.
It’s definitely epic man I’m glad I’m not the only one who sees it. They say John was anti social and not able to bond with anyone because of how they were raised. And it’s kind of like bladerunner part 1 and 2 or the movie “her” where the men fall in love with an artificial being. Being a lonely person myself, I sympathize with it so much. All you want to do is help people but you’re all alone and finding love in a voice who’s always there for you is not a strange idea.
No, she definitely looks older than 28 (you can see considerable sagging under her neck). However, she does look younger than 45. If I had to guess her age without knowing, I'd say she was in her mid to late thirties.

But the big problem with that character is that the things she had to perform represents a very shallow Zoey. She has only a very superficial character development and background in game. Zoey likes zombie movies and dropped out of school and then acts like an edgelord to the other 3 characters and farts in the elevator. That's really it. It has never been developed more and I'd like to have seen a zoey adventure! I don't know but it might be because of that reason Zoey doesn't really sit in front of her thoughts that much. Cortana as virtual character is more deep, and She just IS cortana much more than She is Zoey. But for me ofcourse she'll always be Zoey :) I never play Halo.
@@CosmicD Jen once said that Zoey was a rushed job for her. She joined the crew at the end of L4D's production and only had like 3 sessions, she took over Alesia Glidewell who was the original voice. This might be why she's not as attached to Zoey as she is to Cortana whom she's played for like 10 years now I think? It kinda sucks as I'm also a huge Zoey fan and would LOVE to hear more about her, like behind the scenes kinda thingy but well, what can we do :P

In our group of players we have this thing where we shout out "this is NOT Zoey!" with some lines at the end of finales that were clearly not replaced by Jen. Zoey has always been like a little sister to me. I'm still bummed that I missed the window to have her voice rcord some specific lines for our campaign. I wished to have some sarcastic lines in dead before dawn.

Interestingly, knowing that Jen Taylor had so many games where she played Peach where she gave Peach that very soft delicate Minnie Mouse sounding voice in contrast to Leslie Swan’s tougher voice, I actually think that if Jen Taylor used her real voice for Peach, she would’ve sounded just like Leslie Swan. And yes Jen Taylor’s voice is so beautiful and feminine as it is I don’t know why she would decide to tweak it for some parts.
AAw, the whole "gaming is a boys club" thing is so pathetic, it's like saying the model business is a girls club. Sure, the majority in gaming are men, but it's open for women as well, just like modelling is open for men as well(even if male models earn less than female models OMG WAGE GAP(joking)). PS: Lara Croft, Xena, Wonder Woman and many other powerful women have been a part of our culture for a long time, but not BECAUSE they are women, because they are cool, when women stop trying to be "strong women" and just start being "cool people" then we can talk.
She's great. Cortana is a symbolic character in the video game industry. I really hope they tie up the story well in Halo 6 because I hate to see Cortana become the Villian.
