Yes, Vostok's crown can put off most watch enthusiast, but it is made by design. It is made to protect the crown stem getting damaged if it drops to the ground. I see it as a special characteristic of the Vostok brand. If anyone mentions wobbly crown watch, I immediately think Vostok's.
And that's the shocking thing how so many "expert" reviewers do not do their due diligence and read up a bit on the mechanics of these beautifully engineered watches.
Vostok is unique. It has some weird things like the crown wobble and such but those are mostly design choices to protect the watch. Also the designs are amazing! I'm planning on getting a few new Vostoks for myself.
I bought the Casio Duro Blue ( and a green bezel Casio Duro too ) swapped the mineral crystal out for a double domed sapphire crystal and added a nice solid link stainless steel bracelet with a milled clasp on both Duros ...and both are fantastic! great video!
The Vostok amphibian watches were designed and used for diving back in the 60s Russia, designed to get more water resistant the deeper you went by compressing, including the bezel. I have used mine surfing, swimming and around the house for 4-5 years, still going strong. I have the 710 cushion case with a sharkmesh bracelet very comfy IMO.
Great comparison review & G'morning ☕☕☕ ☺ . The wobbly crown on Vostok's is a design feature meant to protect the movement in case of accidental impact to the crown while unscrewed. That's why the crown engages and disengages from the movement depending on whether it's unscrewed and or pulled out to engage the movement. It's another one of those quirky features that make vostoks original & kool 😎 .
I have two manual wind only komandirskie's and one amphibian. I like how thin and small the komandirskie is compared to other watches. My amphibian is a 420 case and looks like a UFO from the side. Also my amphibian is the same way after setting the time I have to push the crown and screw it in to get it out of the set position.
Mine does that too, after setting the time you have to screw it down and get a noticeable resistance and sort of a click before unscrewing to wind it. Also if you want the thinness of the Komandirskie but the case of an Amphibia, the channel 24h has a video about removing the rotor and replacing the caseback with a Komandirskie caseback. The video itself is good but the comments are especially full of tips and advice.

That's good to know that if I remove the rotor the case back will fit. I was just on meranom.com looking at the exhibition case back for the amphibian.

I'd pick the Duro over Vostok any day. I own 2 Duros blue and black and a Vostok Komandirskie K35 (which got same movement, hands and dial design) And to me, the Duro beats the Vostok in every way. My vostok runs at about +60 seconds per 24hours since being bought brand new. Also, putting the Duro on a bracelet (there are dedicated bracelets from Casio) elevates this watch to a whole new level.
I’m not positive, but I’m pretty sure you completed an entire video regarding the Vostok watch and did not use the word quirky. Thank you.. I should’ve known a fellow drummer would probably be the first to accomplish this.
The Blue Marlin is awesome for the price, and it’s my go-to Sauna watch 👍🏻 My only gripes are the bad lume and the factory strap, of which only one can be easily fixed. Waiting for my first Vostok now, by the way, the Amphibian 120656, and it’s really testing my patience....
I am perfectly aware that your comment is one year old. Agree about bad lume on Casio. As for the rubber strap (not a fan of this rubber strap myself... Get that blue duro on a dedicated bracelet or any bracelet you might like. You will elevate this watch to a whole new level.
The "dome style" acrylic glas of the vostok is a no go. I always would bump into something with this. And the dial is too small. The lighter blue is beautiful. But I always would prefer the casio.

The crown wiggle is by design. Not an issue. Duh.
Yup! Still not the biggest fan but the bigger issue is having to re-screw it in to switch between setting and winding.
I want both. They are equally beautiful peices.
Fortunately they're affordable enough that you could, but unfortunately the Vostok has been out of stock for a while.
