BTW, the play-through with slower and as-recorded tempos after we learn the chords are exactly what we are looking for... GREATLY appreciated and thanks as always!
First of a BIG THANK YOU for your energy in teaching. I'm getting back into playing guitar on a regular basis. I love these play-a-longs. They are a great way for us retired folk to play a long with other people before we go out in public! Keep them coming!
perfect I love this way. I can get ready at my own pace, so when I'm ready to play along I'm fully ready. The play along fills gaps that I didn't "get" with the lesson.
Playalong at reduced speed and then going to full concert speed is awesome Shane, really makes you keep going thru chord blips and helps you to play with others Thank you
Shane, enjoy your lessons and your enthusiasm. In answer to your question about play alongs, I always enjoy hearing intro, verse, chorus, bridge, outro etc., before the lesson even starts. This way I can hear the instructors take on the song and what "extras" or riffs may be included in their lesson.
🎶 Shane, this is FANTASTIC! You are the best for learning Songs. THANK YOU! So very many memories with the song… I was reminded me of my little sister, but we lost years ago… ❤️🩹
This is a great format! Having one video to get the basics down and another to play along and practice is superb! The downloadable song sheets were the icing on the cake! You sir, are an asset and a treasure to the guitar community! Best wishes for your continued success!!!
Love your play alongs; none better. Came up with a slick way to hit G9 chord with ease. In the chorus "...thought by now..." from the D to G leave ring finger on b-string 3rd fret, play regular G fingering, pinky on e-string 3rd fret. Only top two fingers move down to play the G9.. EASY. If anyone makes sense of this, reply.
I’ve been playing guitar a couple of years now so with your help on this song I can now play it with more practice, it was one of my dads favourite songs and he sadly past away a couple of years ago but I know he’s with me when I play it and it’s for him, thank you so much Shane and keep up the great videos and songs you make it much more fun and keep me focused. GARY from London England
Shane great morning here in New Zealand on holiday, played through the play along at top speed with only a few mistakes, getting better feeling good. Thanks
you do the best instructional video ive ever seen great stuff changing tempo s or speed is fantastic idea plus your struming patterns , well thought out love all your instructional video s dont stop gonna visit your site and watch em all for sure
This is really, really helpful. I am not a natural musician and so breaking the lesson down in this way helps me to grasp the feel and content of a song. The format works really well! Providing the play a long video just completes the lesson and allow me to put your tips and comments into practice. I have downloaded your song sheets and look forward to working through your other lessons soon. Thank you! Keep up the great work!
This song is one of my fave Eagles tune! I also like "New kid in town"! Great job, friend, as always! Thats why i love your channel! Simple and easy lessons!
I think that this is a great way to learn. Especially if you don't have somebody else to play along with. Starting at less than full speed is helpful too. Thanks!
Shane, Thank you so much for the time and effort that went into your videos. You have pushed my guitar playing forward tremendously, and this video really helps me with playing on the best and hearing the chord changes. Thanks again
Hi Shane, thanks for the great instruction. You are spot on. Natural teacher. Beauty Taylor, fantastic tone. I'm not a beginner but not there yet. After 37yrs of picking you'd think I would be Steve Vai but I'm an artist first. Guitar I'd just because I love good music. I'll get it. Pencil in hand. Tks again! Cheers! Ben in Austin TX
Yes definitely enjoy this additional aspect to the practice regime, its a great way of pushing yourself, once you have gone some way to mastering the first part of the lesson, it highlights any weakness's i may have so i can then revert back to the How to video, then return to the play-along. Great Thank you.
Thanks so much!!! big fan of the playthroughs really makes a big difference and yes you are fun to along with. Great teacher of the small things that make the song .
Just what was wanted Shane, brings the lesson into life and shows me what I should be aiming for. Always thought it was the way to go and mentioned it a few months ago so fantastic that you have developed the lessons this way. Well done and as always just love your style and approach. Congrats on the 20k.
Thank you Steve - always great to hear from you and I remember you mentioning it - will do a bunch more just like it. Great to have you with us and I always appreciate your comments! Shane
Great idea Shane. Had me playing along after only an hour or so. I think the idea of a song lesson followed by a play along video is a fantastic idea. I have gotten a lot out of your videos. You somehow make it easy for me to get it. Thanks and keep it up please.
Thank you Just Me - really great to hear you are having some success - I appreciate your feedback and I hope you have a ton of fun with your guitar playing! Shane
hi watched a lot of your videos this year.. but only now found your "playalong"videos, sounds awesome ,will check them out. thanks for this great idea.. bye and take care now in these strange covid times..
Fantastic idea, another great lesson, following you is going to force me into playing an entire song without using the usual training wheels Thank you!
Having lots of fun with this one. I find it helpful to use the "little kids G " right before the G9 in the chorus. It makes the transition a lot easier for us newbies!
Thank you sloth_bristol - very glad you find it helpful - the plan is to do a bunch more for videos that are already up there. I love the idea. Best to you in 2019 and always good to hear from you! Shane
Shane, thanks for doing the play-along video! I can play the verses, still working on the chorus. I have been using your "how to" videos for about 6 months now. In fact, I played "Dust in the Wind" for my guitar recital this month. I learned Travis picking from you, showed my guitar teacher what I was learning, so he took it one step further and taught me how to play the melody. So, for my recital, we played it as a duet, switching back & forth between harmony and melody. It was fun! It would be great to see that song as a play-along video. Anyway, I like how you teach...I just started taking lessons 2 years ago, at age 50, and I love it.
Thank you Tina - that is so great! It sounds like you are really moving forward on the guitar - fabulous! I really appreciate you taking the time to write and I am super thrilled that you are enjoying and benefitting from these videos - my best to you and Happy New Year! Shane
This is great Shane, I do have a hard time distinguishing when you call out a D or Bm. Just my hearing but I love these play along songs, they're great. Good instruction Thank you!
This new approach is excellent, especially with the songs that have some little highlights at a faster tempo. More work for you unfortunately, but I think it's the way to go as far a teaching method. Thanks for all the work you put into these.
Thank you ickster - I really appreciate the feedback. A lot of people agreeing with you here for sure. I'll be doing more of these play along videos - big thank you and always happy to hear from you! Shane
Thank you Shane! I really appreciated this video and your work to help all of us to learn these great songs. I signed up as a patreon today as well. Best wishes from Minnesota!
Hi Shane. Thanks for this really helpful approach to learning guitar. You always keep bringing it up a notch! Great job! Looking forward to your future videos. All the best in 2019!
Hi Shane. Great how-to video and playalong. I would really like a how-to video and a playalong with the lead fills covered so we can learn the electric parts and where they go.
Shane I stumbled on your channel, fantastic approach to the Guitar instructions; no fuss, no muss, ... Very open, no secret hidden sections or teasers' Just straight up approach. Like it!
Great Job!! I enjoyed the play along very much. Not sure if your still working on the solo for this great song? Can't wait for it. I really enjoy your lessons. Than You!!
Hey Shane ! Just found out from your website that you are from Ottawa, I knew there was a reason I like what you do, I’m from Ottawa also now living near Rockland!
No other guitar coach required, Shane's style is the ultimate. Thank you Shane
Thank you Joe - that’s hugely encouraging. My best to you! Shane
As an NYC bass instructor , I am impressed by his elite play + how smooth& ez he teaches it &. does obscure Stanley & Larry jazz chords with ease -
Thanks for that - my best to you. Shane
BTW, the play-through with slower and as-recorded tempos after we learn the chords are exactly what we are looking for... GREATLY appreciated and thanks as always!
Thank you Mitchel - always good to hear from you and that is great feedback. Much appreciated!
