There was an eagle in new zealand called the 'Haast Eagle' , it weighed up to 13kg, had a wing span of 3m and there are reports of it carrying off children. Its now extinct due to its main food source the Moa being hunted to extinction but I can't help but wonder what it would of been like if they where still around, I can't help but think of a mad max style world where cars have roof mounted guns to fight off eagle attacks

This game is still one of my fav's, nice variety in enemies, armour, weapons and abilities, with updates not being too irregular
Monster hunter was clearly the inspiration, but over time dauntless began to become it's own thing, if they were a lil less aggressive with micritransactions it would be a decent game

@@luckray1659 Sorry yes I meant Shrowd. Imo Koshai is the funnest and is very different from the others. Skraev is kind of Icy But Koshai literally regrows its own tail out of terra vines and plants brambles on the ground and summons entire trees to post on.

I started playing this game over a year ago because of this video, and imma say that it's kinda trippy watching this after playing for all of that time. I legit went from being the noob that relied on randos to carry me through fights to a max level god that usually ends up carrying everyone else on my team. Legit this game changed my life and helped me make friends I never thought I could, and I have this video to thank for it

Coming from someone who played Monster Hunter world for over 400 hours and has been playing a lot more dauntless (since I've basically done everything and am waiting for AT Nergie and Iceborne for PC), here are some of more abstract differences to note:
1. Dauntless feels much stiffer and slower in movement and combat feels not as responsive (in turn combos in MHW like let's say charging your shield with a chargeblade feels immediate and responsive whereas using your pike to do the rapid stabs can fail if you don't double click or hold down the attack button at a specific reason.) this doesn't so much feel like incompetent programming but more rather it's perhaps intentional to some extent and can be polished.
2. combat feels more like an arena and the lack of endemic life (which to be fair I've been spoiled by MHW) makes it unpleasent.
3. fights are really creative in dauntless. it takes MHW's concept of breaking parts and really expands on the idea that breaking certain body parts prevents specific attacks.
4. looting is automatic and you don't have to risk losing loot for being too far, a nice plus
5. despite having a realized physics engine (with jump pads everywhere) there is a lack of vertical combat. it's rather disapointing.
6. monsters in dauntless usually bounce the fuck out wheras in MHW, lesser monsters still fight.
7. matchmaking is kinda ass in dauntless
the lack of endemic life really makes the map feel less alive. I would really like if they add at least some ambient life walking around even if you can't interact with them.

Dauntless is developed by Phoenix Labs, they just have the support of the Epic Games store for cross-platform and whatnot.
I know this was a long time ago and now he (hopefully) learned about it, but for people who are new to his channel, first time watching this, or plain out just heard of Dauntless. He made a mistake. Angry/Rage mode he was talking about is called Danger Mode (The longer you fight the monster the unfortunate the Quest become, so either kill it quickly, revive teammates, or cause it to flee). The Aethercharged mode is called Rage Mode (turns red, increased stats, and more movesets). Real aethercharged are corresponding to their elements; examples that red jackal thing will have a mane of fire or that Skarn, which is basically always Aethercharged because of the rock armor. Play the game, seriously its fun and free, or you want Monster Hunter World but can't afford it lol
