I confess Uzbekistan in October is not at the top of my holiday destinations list, but I'm sure it's quite interesting. Have a great time and we'll see you when you get back.
I will confess it was not my idea, she who must be obeyed had a significant birthday and it was her choice! But did enable me to create some different content though.
I visited St Petersburg (then Leningrad) in 1985 and remember seeing the GAZ Volga 4200 cars everywhere as taxis mainly. Also Zaporozhets 968 which I really loved but they're getting rare now.
Well done Trev a fascinating insight into motoring over there. Interesting to see the dreaded Lada Samara there, I used to have to take the odd ones in part-ex sometimes, IMHO the most uncomfortable car to drive with possibly some of the worst build quality of the day. 😀
I was in Uzbekistan and I took lots of taxis. Some are very ancient but some are brand new. It's very interesting they don't just eliminate the old cars. In China it's totally different. The kids today can't drive cars by *themselves* (without technology) as in the past. They will have problems putting cars into the garage without AI assist.
Thanks a lot, that was really interesting! But I must admit I'm a sucker for trivia! I'll never travel to Uzbekistan, my contact with Eastern Europe was three days in Moscow in 1965, and a night in Slovernia in 1966 - nothing since then!
3:49 It is not an Audi 100. It's a Volkswagen Passat B2.
Good spot, I got that wrong!
No 4 rings on the front.
Tony Lanfranchi raced a Moskvitch 412 in the British Saloon Car Championship back in the day. Championship winner to boot.
Interesting!
Great video, good to see how another country look after classics.
Glad you enjoyed
The lengths you go to bring us information. Well done once again Trev

Love a good car spotting video

I was in Tashkent twenty years ago, they bomb around in the snow with their winter tyres, great city I loved the food and markets there.
A car spotter is never off duty :)
Very true. I'm like a meerkat....
In the back of my brain buried deeply I do remember the saloon lada here in the uk.
You could well be right!
Lada was the Zhiguli until sold in the west. Zhiguli sounded too much like gigolo, and had to be changed.
You are spot on...!
Yes we got the Samara saloon in the UK for few years
Thanks, wasn't sure. Know mainland Europe keen on their saloons.

Enjoyed 👍
Glad to hear
We used to pop jokes about ladas, but they are real workhorses
True... very robust and designed for home maintenance
I like the look of the early Lada’s/Fiats. Becoming classics???
Definitely
It's interesting to think what stories these survivors of their type could tell as thay go from a status symbol to a work horse & on to be a classic.
If only they could talk...
That Audi 100 was an Audi 80.
Someone else suggested Passat...
Ladas been called Classic cars that's definitely a 1st lol
Every dog has its day... 😂
I want a Zaz.
Think they are pretty rare...
@@oscarsgarage447 Certainly in the UK. Cheers for the video.
