Wheeler Dealers Where Are They Now?

  • It's now over 20 years since the very first series of Wheeler Dealers was aired presented by Mike Brewer and Edd China, and we thought it was an opportune time to see if we could find out what happened to those early cars after they were sold.
    In the Sixth & Seventh Series, Mike & Edd had up to £5000 to buy and restore a classic car - remember cars and parts were a lot cheaper then....!
    Originally WD was serialised in 30 minute episodes, with 2 per car, but from series 7 was a single 60 minute programme. These episodes featured:
    1996 BMW E36 M3 Convertible Reg No. M300SDB
    1973 Jensen Interceptor MKIII Reg No. WLY654M

    Thanks for the video. I enjoyed the Interceptor episode, Mike went to a specialist firm (Robey's) who still hold all the original production records. Apparently the car was originally under a different registration, something like "1 Log" IIRC.

      Glad you enjoyed it. I do remember him getting build info. Plate is quite possible, but records of changes before DVLA went computerised in 1983 are either vague or non existent...

      The reg is now on a Mini Countryman in the Princes Risborough area. I saw it just after a repeat of the WD episode and a few times since. Made me grin anyway.

    March 2022….. this car was going through a nut and bolt restoration costing upwards of £200,000. I know this as I know the bodywork/ sprayer that worked on it.

      @@hurstinator Hi, I know the body work and sprayer of this car. It was done at Body Beautiful and was a colour change from the white to gold. In fact, the Ed China repair panel in the passenger side front footwell was still in place.

    Excellent video Trevor. This is probably as much of a result as you can get on the WD cars. I have mentioned before that in many cases far more work is done on the cars than appears on the shows, and of course in the final numbers tally. Paul Brackley says that they could never knowingly hand over a car that was in any way dangerous, and a lot of the work needed to make the cars fully roadworthy was not really an interesting view. I have been working on a BMW 840Ci for about 8 years now, it would be interesting to try and find out what happened to the WD one.

    • @rimmersbryggeri
      @rimmersbryggeri Місяць тому

      @@oscarsgarage447 Exactly, it was still missing when they were done. I would at least want that in the car if I was paying over £20k for a car like that especially since it seems to be made of Jacobs crackers by now. :) Even at the price WD sold it for back in the day. They quite significantly overstated the cost for reinstating it I suspect since it was some chrysler system that would be a dime a dozen in the states and assuming the hoses were custom it's not £900 to get them crimped.

    • @jasoneldridge4738

    Does the Jensen only have a 5-digit mileometer?
    The reason I ask is that the mileage at the MoT in 2012 was 99595, but its 2013 MoT mileage was 1140.
