How about that B2 Super Battle Droid in S1E1? The one where Yoda uses the force to pick it up and use it against its allies. This droid speaks out, not only understanding that something very wrong was happening, but even trying to tell its fellow units to get out of the way since it couldn't stop shooting. To make this sadder, when Yoda lowers it, it starts to shout out "Don't Shoot! I'm on your side!" I feel bad for this droid.
Yeah that guy is cool. I wish I could scavenge his processor and make him into my home "Cortana". But it may end up with him trying to "HAL" me to death in my own home.
For real, I could feel the horrible reality of that moment; that something was forcing me off the ground and making me blast at full power and speed on my own allies it and I could do little more than try to warn them even though they would only have a second at most to react. But worst of all is just seeing your comrades getting mowed down by your own hands and you are completely powerless to stop. I don’t think anything with a mind could ever live with that going forward. 😢 droids scream in terror just like us, remember that.

security droids also had better targeting systems and the OOM versions were even more independent. this is due to operating in smaller squads and fighting in narrow corridors where weight of fire is reduced
It is acually realy pathedic that R2 was able to Reprogram 3 normal Battle Droids and make them probably more intelligent and yousful than the entirer Troops of B1 Droids. Actually why dindt the Republic did that? Take the Destroyed Droids, repair them, reprogram them and youse them ans Canon Fodder ore for infiltration.

Hey Geetly's I swear there was a moment where a droid did something pretty amazing, but I can't remember the episode. Now technically I wouldn't say this is an 'Over-qualitfied' Droid as this was a super tactical droid, but I seem to remember that during an encounter between one and Anakin the tactical droid dodged Anakin's lightsaber and managed to punch him in the gut, which I have to say is pretty impressive.
The commando droids had that badass vibe but wouldve been almost unstoppable if they didn't keep asking the clones questions and just shot. Granted if they had some sort of heat detection.
I always thought that B1's are kinda cute. When I was younger i liked the droid humor but later i understood how much personality they got and even some individuality. I'd loved to see some battle droids amongst the rebellion, I mean remember: the separatists became the rebellion in the end. Well, at least some of them...
Man, I really wanted R2's squad to survive and become recurring minor characters. They saved the day several times throughout that arc and didn't get a word of thanks. Some of my favorite droids in the franchise.

Easily the depressed droid who was part of the trio who saw Anakin (I think it was him). One of the trio said “There’s three of us and one of him!” The depressed droid bowed his head and said “It won’t matter.”
Favorite had to be the B1 with Bane during the interrogation/murder of Bolla Ropal. The way he almost sadly said “he’s dead” was almost heart breaking.
I absolutely loved the Terrific Trio as well. Just them being independent thinkers so to speak, and their actual intellect was impressive enough. Not to mention that they were able to think on the fly and trick other droids.
The one that stood out to me was in Destroy Malevolance. While his companions see Jedi and immediately shoot, getting their bolts reflected onto them and killing them, one droid realizes that shooting the Jedi would be a bad idea that would only lead to the bolt being used against them, and instead GETS REINFORCEMENTS. Smart!
What about the B1 Battle Droid known as R0-GR? R0-GR, or "Roger", was a B1 battle droid who served the Freemakers, a human family of scavengers that traveled throughout the galaxy. He was a veteran of the Separatist Droid Army during the Clone Wars, and was programmed to serve as Rowan Freemakers best friend. He had a mismatched torso and right arm. Personality and traits: R0-GR was a B1 battle droid of the Separatist Army that survived the Clone Wars. He had a friendly character but was slightly misunderstood. Skills and abilities: R0-GR had a mismatched right arm and torso and could also bake cookies. Like all battle droids he knows how to fire a blaster and fly the Starscavenger. Behind the scenes: R0-GR is voiced by Matthew Wood, who had previously voiced the battle droids, General Grievous, Wat Tambor, and several other Separatist characters in the Cartoon Network TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. His name is an obvious reference to the battle droids' catchphrase. There is also a faded Trade Federation symbol on his torso.
I think those rupublic trio were so effective because they were facing other battledroids. The main enemy of computer programs in unpredictable situations. The clone come up with a crap load of them due to being organic beings. For droids racing then it wouldn’t be unrealistic for them to often just get error codes when clones do things they aren’t prepared for. Yet when facing other droids who to don’t engage is those unpredictable actions they are able to calculate there way to victory.
Grievous reminds me of Charles Laughton in Mutiny on the Bounty when he walks around with his head pushed forward and hands behind his back I half expect him to grumble, "this is mutiny, MUTINY!" :)
One of my favorite smart droids parts was when one told another not to shoot at a Jedi. The other didn't listen and got destroyed by his own shot. "I told you."
Those last 3 were hands down my favorite. I would love to see more droids get reprogrammed to join the Republic in a future season, if there is another one. Or maybe one would just become self aware and try joining the republic, similar to the lone battle droid.

The Terrific Trio were by far my favorite. Ah the memories of watching that episode. Anyone remember the one were that tiny alien dude led artoo and a few other astromechs on a mission on that desolate planet? Good times, good times.
I personally like the droid commander in rebels. Who knew they were getting shut down so he personally denied the shut down in favor of him and his troops and ultimately took a final stand with Rex and the rest. Too damn smart,deserves his own list
Have a hive mind, that tells information to eachother constantly, but sub ai for every individual droid, that way they know if someone is taking droids out in the base, ot if they are being flanked straight away, and they can separately take out enemy troops

The commando droids had that badass vibe but wouldve been almost unstoppable if they didn't keep asking the clones questions and just shot. Granted if they had some sort of heat detection.

I always thought that B1's are kinda cute. When I was younger i liked the droid humor but later i understood how much personality they got and even some individuality. I'd loved to see some battle droids amongst the rebellion, I mean remember: the separatists became the rebellion in the end. Well, at least some of them...

Man, I really wanted R2's squad to survive and become recurring minor characters. They saved the day several times throughout that arc and didn't get a word of thanks. Some of my favorite droids in the franchise.

Favorite had to be the B1 with Bane during the interrogation/murder of Bolla Ropal. The way he almost sadly said “he’s dead” was almost heart breaking.

I absolutely loved the Terrific Trio as well. Just them being independent thinkers so to speak, and their actual intellect was impressive enough. Not to mention that they were able to think on the fly and trick other droids.

The irony...
The one that stood out to me was in Destroy Malevolance. While his companions see Jedi and immediately shoot, getting their bolts reflected onto them and killing them, one droid realizes that shooting the Jedi would be a bad idea that would only lead to the bolt being used against them, and instead GETS REINFORCEMENTS. Smart!

What about the B1 Battle Droid known as R0-GR?
R0-GR, or "Roger", was a B1 battle droid who served the Freemakers, a human family of scavengers that traveled throughout the galaxy. He was a veteran of the Separatist Droid Army during the Clone Wars, and was programmed to serve as Rowan Freemakers best friend. He had a mismatched torso and right arm.
Personality and traits:
R0-GR was a B1 battle droid of the Separatist Army that survived the Clone Wars. He had a friendly character but was slightly misunderstood. Roger was programmed to served as Rowan's best buddy and had a reputation as a simpleton. Due to his Clone Wars experiences, Roger had a fear of Jedi.
Skills and abilities:
R0-GR had a mismatched right arm and torso and could also bake cookies. Like all battle droids he knows how to fire a blaster and fly the Starscavenger.
Behind the scenes:
R0-GR is voiced by Matthew Wood, who had previously voiced the battle droids, General Grievous, Wat Tambor, and several other Separatist characters in the Cartoon Network TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. His name is an obvious reference to the battle droids' catchphrase. There is also a faded Trade Federation symbol on his torso.

I think those rupublic trio were so effective because they were facing other battledroids. The main enemy of computer programs in unpredictable situations. The clone come up with a crap load of them due to being organic beings. For droids racing then it wouldn’t be unrealistic for them to often just get error codes when clones do things they aren’t prepared for. Yet when facing other droids who to don’t engage is those unpredictable actions they are able to calculate there way to victory.

One of my favorite smart droids parts was when one told another not to shoot at a Jedi. The other didn't listen and got destroyed by his own shot. "I told you."

Those last 3 were hands down my favorite. I would love to see more droids get reprogrammed to join the Republic in a future season, if there is another one. Or maybe one would just become self aware and try joining the republic, similar to the lone battle droid.

The Terrific Trio were by far my favorite. Ah the memories of watching that episode. Anyone remember the one were that tiny alien dude led artoo and a few other astromechs on a mission on that desolate planet? Good times, good times.
I personally like the droid commander in rebels. Who knew they were getting shut down so he personally denied the shut down in favor of him and his troops and ultimately took a final stand with Rex and the rest. Too damn smart,deserves his own list
Have a hive mind, that tells information to eachother constantly, but sub ai for every individual droid, that way they know if someone is taking droids out in the base, ot if they are being flanked straight away, and they can separately take out enemy troops
You gotta admit, though, Obi-Wan's Form III bladework beginning at 1:46 was drop-dead badass. Particularly that figure-eight shield maneuver.
