    For the jerky you should buy it from the jerky bar rather than pre-packaged.

      Jerky is supposed be as tuff as leather people used to do things to make it harder. fore some reason people started making cheep easy and tender . spending less time smoking and drying the meat and using tender meat .if it is easy to eat it is not real jerky. Buc-ee's jerky is not as good as what you could buy years ago. but its far better than the over priced stuff .

      Needed to go to the jerky deli counter to get better jerky choices and can sample in advance.
      The smoked pork loin is my favorite although isnt dry jerky
      The bakery also has fresh kolaches (sweet or savory).
      Surprised y'all resisted buying the fresh candied nuts or fudge

      in america no one wants to pay like 899 for a brisket sandwich.. let alone 5... never been too bukies but never wanna go... sorry i dont wanna pay 60 bucks for a bag of beef jerkey! its not local its just mass produced bought out by other cheap texas companies! texas sucks oklahoma is way way better! I would argue downtown tulsa has better food then all of texas combined... just dont get bbq bbq is best in misourri though... best asian fusion best seafood and best value ... like even sushi is cheap here because of competition...

    I like barbecue sauce with my ribs (brushed on while smoking) and pulled pork. I don't ever have sauce with my brisket because when done right, it's moist & juicy enough on its own and any barbecue sauce takes away from the smokey flavor of the long nine hour cooktime.

    For all the gf people, Buc-ee's has a good list of gf foods. Snacks include Corn-ee Chips, Nug-ees, popcorn and various nuts. They offer gluten-free meals like a Grilled Chicken Salad, BBQ Brisket Plate, and a Turkey Bacon Wrap. Side options include mashed potatoes and Beaver chips.
    For beverages, you can enjoy fountain sodas, fruit flavors, and lemonade. They also provide packaged items like Sargento cheese and rice crackers. Don’t miss dessert options like gluten-free cookies, brownies, and pecan pralines and 3 flavors of fudge.

    Real beef jerky is suppose to be like chewing leather. It is a survival food. Cowboys and ranchers would work all day outdoor, and take a bite of jerky that they would chew for ten minutes creating flavored saliva to help with hunger till they camp or returned home for dinner.

  • @timisme8360
    @timisme8360 16 днів тому +4

    I like both kinds of jerky. The softer more tender jerky is good for immediate satisfaction. The hard leathery jerky is good if you're walking the trail and have time to enjoy it. If you cut the meat with the grain, it will be tougher but if you cut it across the grain , you'll end up with a more tender jerky.

    *I just discovered that a new Buc-ee's* will be built just two hours from my house and another new Buc-ee's will be built just 20 minutes from my home. LOL! 😅
    They are both going to be absolutely massive, too. Both are set to be the largest size of store Buc-ee's builds. According to Buc-ee's they will be just as big and fancy as any of the Texas locations.
    Both locations will sport 120 gas pumps. 🙂

    • @scottlyttle5586
      @scottlyttle5586 15 днів тому

      New Buc-ee's locations will be 74,000 sq ft. The largest one in Luling TX is 75,000 sq ft, and will be the largest for quite some time. I've been tracking the store growth.

    • @GalaxyFur
      @GalaxyFur 15 днів тому

      Yeah, but there is no difference between a 74,000- and 75,000-square-foot location. They are the same size store. The new locations will feature the largest sales floor Buc-ee's offers. Also, these stores usually grow slightly before they are built. The one location has grown twice since it was first planned.
      So, any tiny measurable difference between all of these stores is likely just to accommodate the loading dock areas, door entryways, mechanical rooms, etc.
      However, any public area will be the same size since it will have the largest sales floor plan. Buc-ee's has already flirted with one of these locations as the so-called "Largest" Buc-ee's regardless.
      Another example is that there's no difference between Meijer stores here. They are all basically identical. The only minor differences are due to door entryways, as they differ ever so slightly, and some differ in how they do the Starbucks/bank area in the front of the store. But they all mostly hover around 192,000+ sq ft. The shopping experience is the exact same.
      What will be funny, though, is that the one Buc-ee's will be close to Chicago.
      You can visit the largest class of Buc-ee's, the nation's largest, dedicated grocery store, and the largest McDonald's and the world's largest Starbucks, all within a very short distance. My area is full of goofy record-breakers 😅

    • @scottlyttle5586
      @scottlyttle5586 15 днів тому

      @@GalaxyFur Luling grew twice before Sevierville was the first 74K store, making it the largest. A new building was made in Luling, next to the old one. When the new building opened, the old one was demolished. But this is a topic for a dedicated Buc-ee's group.

    • @GalaxyFur
      @GalaxyFur 15 днів тому

      @scottlyttle5586 Cool! Yeah, I know this will be the most extensive floor plan they build, regarding what is available to the public.
      It's just cool that I will have two different locations that will be very close to where I am. I know final designs haven't been solidified yet. Both local towns are still negotiating the plans and how road infrastructure will interact with them.

    I make my own jerky. My favorites are my venison jerky and my beefalo (a cross between cow and bison) and my ex wife's peppered beef jerky. She also makes a delicious teriyaki beef jerky and a garlic & onion infused beef jerky. I make a homemade marinade. Soy sauce, a LITTLE brown sugar, a VERY LITTLE (it's a very strong flavor) toasted sesame oil and a bit of liquid smoke. It works well with the venison and the beefalo. Marinade the meat for 4-6 hours and then wrap it in a paper towel and squeeze until the excess is absorbed by the towel. Let it dry out in the fridge for about six hours and then put it in the dehydrator. And for those who've never tried it, beefalo tastes like beef but it has a more wild game flavor.

    • @timisme8360
      @timisme8360 10 днів тому +1

      @ct6852 If you use a dehydrator, follow the directions. If you don't have a dehydrator, if it's sliced thin, in the oven at 200 F for 4 hrs. Turn off the oven and wait until it's cool. Take it out and enjoy. If it's sliced a little thicker, give it an extra hour before you turn off the oven.
      All ovens are different so check on it after about 3 hrs. It should feel dry before you turn off the oven.

    There are really only a few types of dried fruit that I like. Dehydrated apple and banana chips and dried cherries, cranberries... and raisins, of course.

    I live in Arizona now but when we lived in Florida we would go to the Buccee's on Interstate 20 in Terrell, Texas. Now there is a new Buccee's in the very town we once lived in there in Florida! I love the place. So fun to shop in the store and eat various snacks. Of course the main purpose is to fuel the car but shopping there is a lot of fun!

    My little boy has the same buccee pjs, and loves them.
    We have a buccees about 70 miles away, anytime we go that direction it’s a guaranteed stop.

    Yall only spent a few hours in Buccee's? Yall have more self-control than most Texans! Good call on the beaver nuggets.
    Edit: Forgot to mention, the founder of Buccee's is an alumni of my university, and they're big supporters of our athlete NIL fund. So, thanks for supporting Texas A&M athletics! Gig 'Em!

    Brave man Sam, eating that chicken burrito without a plate underneath you? 😂 I'm not sure if this is a saying in New Zealand but you're going HAM on that chicken burrito! LMAO Basically it means that there's gonna be nothing but fond memories left when you're done.

    You should've done your taste test outside Buc-ee's so you could go back in and get more of the things you really loved.
