Big Tex started out as the worlds largest Santa Claus around 1949 in a little town named Kerens, Texas which is about 8 miles from where I live. It was built in the hopes that it would draw customers from Corsicana and Dallas. People lost interest and it was sold to the state fair for $750. It was first shown in 1952. So glad y'all made it to Dallas during the State Fair 🤠 And as far as the largest state fair, Minnesota has a state fair that has a slightly bigger footprint I think, but Texas State Fair has the most people attendance every year.
You definitely had a true American experience in this one. Any fair is a favorite past time for us...Love the content, thank you for sharing, Amazing video!!!
If you Google it, the MN state fair usually wins for best fair. It comes in a typically not too distant second to Texas in attendance but then Texas is open for 30 days and MN’s fair runs for 11.
I went to the New York State fair a few years ago, wow, it was great. I enjoyed seeing all the animals who were blue ribbon winners. I was so impressed to see all the foods too.
I think Nadine has turned into an American dill pickle fan while she was here. Did you see her dive for those pickle spears when she spotted them with the BBQ sandwich? 😂😂
I never understood why so many British people (I know they're from NZ but it seems more common in the UK) don't like pickles. Then I went there a ton of times and realized there isn't a good pickle to be found anywhere on that island...
My family and I went to the Texas State Fair and they made my three siblings and I skip one day of school to go have some fun! I didn't agree but my parents took us there anyway.
I am so glad that the family had a good time. I love state fairs, especially the food. You are such a wonderful family and I enjoy every one of your videos.
I have never even been to my own State Fair (Missouri), but would be really surprised if Texas didn't have the biggest state fair. It has to. Texas is known across the country for doing everything BIG. Glad you had fun. I find it funny most of this video was about food! Keep making the world smile!❤
Great choice of places to visit while you're in America! Texas may not be as fancy as New York or parts of Cali, but it's good food and friendly people more than make up for it. I'm so glad you guys got to try our BBQ too, I know other states have their own versions of BBQ, but come on... we all know Texas BBQ is the best BBQ in America!
Going to a state fair is an American right. Y’all were basically already there, but I think it’s safe to say you’ve earned your stripes (pun intended) in being honorary Americans. So happy you made this trip!
The Texas State Fair is the biggest one, followed by Minnesota, then New York. I work down the street from the fairgrounds in NY here in Syracuse. It's pretty big, there is a free concert park that has great well known bands, and across the highway is the big outdoor amphitheater that cranks up the number of shows around the time of the fair. I've pretty much stopped going to the fair because I've been there so many times in my life, but for someone going for the first time, it's a really great experience.
Statistically speaking Minnesota is bigger. Bigger fairgrounds and Texas runs twice as long to only get about 700k more people. daily attendance Minnesota is definitely on top
If you're going by attendance the iowa state fair would be bigger than NY. Over a million each year. And would also be theoretically bigger than Texas as well bc it only runs for 11 days
I'm really glad y'all are enjoying your time here, seeing the best of what we have to offer, mainly the vistas ... and the food. Lol We take so much for granted, living here as we do, that we forget to appreciate it until we see it through new eyes, like yours.

He wasn't aware at the time that the Rangers were in the midst of the postseason (and I want to say they were in DFW during the ALCS). Go Rangers!
You guys should come to the Iowa State Fair in August this year! It’s a super fun trip and lasts for a week or so. There are concerts every night (you have to pay for in advance) and super good food. Rides and other fun activities!
I really wanted to say Minnesota had the largest state fair but Google tells me it is Texas. I’m from Minnesota and still live there. I grew up new the Minnesota state fairgrounds and used to go all the time. I hope next time you get to check out the animals. They are a big part of state fairs.
You guys were literally at the biggest state fair in the US. I must say, you guys have really done Texas up. It has been so fun to see my state through your eyes and experiences. What an adventure!

Next year come during Texas/OU weekend. You’ll get to experience an authentic college football game and enjoy the fair at the same time. Also the Ferris wheel at nighttime is definitely a highlight that you shouldn’t miss! Thanks for coming to Dallas. Glad you had fun!
Aw! I love that you got to go to Texas! I used to live there and you DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS! 😅❤ That big dill pickle is so awesome! They sell them at the movie theater and always liked a bite of pickle and then some popcorn! Yum! You got set up nice with the gifts at the beginning. Such a nice lady!❤
I'm dying with the powdered sugar cloud! You guys look like you are having the time of your life! Loving the content! keep it coming!
Looks like y'all are having a blast! Enjoy your time here in Texas and come back and see us anytime.
Merry Christmas NZ Family! Come back and visit us any time! Mark in Iowa. We love you guys! Mark.
This is America! If nothing else... we know how to have a good time!
It doesn't get much more American than a trip to the fair! So glad you guys are having an authentic experience and not just the touristy highlights. --Which are great and fun, don't get me wrong! But y'all are seeing the real US of A that we experience every day. Most people just go to Disney and Times Square and fly home.
I finally got to go to the Texas Fair for the first time this year. My daughter and I had so much fun and you are so right about needing several days to really soak in the fullness of the fair. We also rode the gondola back... 😂😂😂
The Cotton Bowl is a football stadium - where The Ohio State Buckeyes are playing Missouri Tigers at the Cotton Bowl - bowl game on 12/29/23 - you should see if you can stream it - and say - we were there!!! LOL By the way -- The Ohio State Fair is about that size too - but we have a huge Cardinal (not cowboy) as that is our State bird! By the way -- I'm with you on the apples - when I make Candied or Carmel apples, I use Granny Smith applies or Pink Lady -- like them crunchy and firm! They maybe used Delicious applies...which are grainy and melly to me too!
Great...Great family!
Awesome kids and so appreciative for everything. You guys ROCK!😊💯💥
Texas is and has the biggest state fair in the USA . I want to say I just love this family. So wholesome and seem to be so legit and down to earth. I wish you guys nothing but the best in life and in health. Cheers guys .
Nope, Minnesota has Texas beat, fair grounds are 322 acres vs TX at 277, and mn brings in 1.8 million in 12 days while TX has 2.7 million but its 24 days long

All that swag they gave you was super thoughtful and perfectly picked for you.
Welcome to Texas !!! Loved the outfits. You guys nailed it. We send you much love from our family in Houston, Texas!!!!
So glad your family enjoyed my beloved Texas. Y'all are welcome back any time. Love from Fort Worth.
I hafta say "I love y'all's family, makes me miss my family & my kids grown up" y'all are truly beautiful & I love y'all !!!!!! From y'all alls brother and uncle from Kokomo Indiana USA 😊
Man, I love seeing your family have so much fun. Glad you paid us a visit!
Love seeing your videos!! We watch them as a family everyday you post. Much Love from Australia 😁
So glad y'all made it to Dallas during the State Fair 🤠
And as far as the largest state fair, Minnesota has a state fair that has a slightly bigger footprint I think, but Texas State Fair has the most people attendance every year.
The average daily attendance is higher at the Minnesota State Fair. It draws nearly as many people in 12 days as Texas does in 24.
You definitely had a true American experience in this one. Any fair is a favorite past time for us...Love the content, thank you for sharing, Amazing video!!!
What a cool wholesome family you are. A breath of fresh air to just watch interact and enjoy life. Blessings to your family and safety! ❤
I’m not really sure about the biggest state fair but I hear the Minnesota state fair is pretty awesome. My sister and her husband have gone many times
The Minnesota State Fair is THE best!!!
2nd to Texas in attendance only cause it runs half as long
You guys bring so much positivity to the world, always puts a smile on my face watching your videos!
Love to see the family having so much fun, and Sam looking for brisket everywhere. This is great, glad you guys are having so much fun.
Glad y’all enjoyed the fair and the state of Texas (and city of Dallas)!
I’m glad y’all are having fun. Hopefully y’all will come back to U.S more
Going at night is a whole other vibe with all the lights
Iowa State Fair has been rated as one of the top 100 things to see in one's life.
If you Google it, the MN state fair usually wins for best fair. It comes in a typically not too distant second to Texas in attendance but then Texas is open for 30 days and MN’s fair runs for 11.
your family's enthusiasm for life and new experiences is so wholesome.... Makes me feel like part of the family just watching you!
I went to the New York State fair a few years ago, wow, it was great. I enjoyed seeing all the animals who were blue ribbon winners. I was so impressed to see all the foods too.
you need to go to the MINNESOTA state fair!!!!!! The largest in the world!
Your children are so well behaved. It's an absolute joy to see America through your family's experiences.
@@liamengram6326 I never heard an American say, "Gee, I'm in mood for some British food."
@@IrishSetter01 true. I don't know what good food they have. Fish and chips is all I can think of to try.
Lol!!@@IrishSetter01
@@the3mfs359 Lol, at least 1 person got the joke!
My family and I went to the Texas State Fair and they made my three siblings and I skip one day of school to go have some fun! I didn't agree but my parents took us there anyway.
Amazing! I am so happy for this family!!!
I'm loving watching your experiences in the USA.
State Fairs are always exciting to go to. I live in the US, and still get excited every year, when my state opens its fair for the year.
Can't wait for the Florida State Fair which will be soon...
You guys definitely need to visit Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio! Biggest collection of rollercoasters in the nation.
I said it in another comment and not to take away from Texas but it's only the largest cause it runs 24 days compared to Minnesota's 12 days
Mmmmm.... Missou. I'd love to visit.
“Pardonnez-moi,“ but Dallas is as sophisticated as NYC or Cali. You just have to delve into the city scene.
I used to go to the Iowa State Fair every year for marching band, I always had such a fun time.
Going to a state fair is an American right. Y’all were basically already there, but I think it’s safe to say you’ve earned your stripes (pun intended) in being honorary Americans. So happy you made this trip!
I love the fair!
The food!
The rides!
The smells!
Did you watch the little children showing their sheep pigs and other livestock in the ring?
So FUN
Well, I hope you guys enjoyed yourself. Thanks for taking me along. Appreciate it. God bless.
I'm really glad y'all are enjoying your time here, seeing the best of what we have to offer, mainly the vistas ... and the food. Lol We take so much for granted, living here as we do, that we forget to appreciate it until we see it through new eyes, like yours.
I would love to cruise our amazing country with this group! Being around people who love life like them is the best.
It is so cool seeing y'all enjoying the fair along with the rest of the trip.
Thank you so much Lois!!!! So cool!!!
So happy someone sent you, or you bought, the Rangers' gear! 2023 World Series Champions!
Glad you and your family had a blast in Texas. Born and raised native, lived in other states, but came back and probably won't ever leave. God Bless Texas.
Sam mentioned elsewhere that he likes to buy sports related stuff from places he visited and he really liked that it said TEXAS across the front, so he bought it. He wasn't aware at the time that the Rangers were in the midst of the postseason (and I want to say they were in DFW during the ALCS). Go Rangers!
@@drummermoe That's even better! Thanks for the insight. So cool to see them enjoy Texas. Love it.
Minnesota actually has the Highest average daily attendance. It draws nearly as many people in 12 days as Texas does in 24.
Oh boy! Here we go! 😁
Scoring TEXAS swag straight out the gate!
You guys were literally at the biggest state fair in the US. I must say, you guys have really done Texas up. It has been so fun to see my state through your eyes and experiences. What an adventure!
This is just a percentage of what the State Fair of Texas has. It takes all day to walk around and to see everything would take multiple visits.
