I am Thai and my kids are half black. Unfortunately it is true that they call black people “Neego or Negro” but I wouldn’t call it “being racist”. I feel like it’s not intentional in Thailand like it is here in the states. When someone calls you the N word here, it with bad intention. In Thailand, they use this word to describe a black person with no ill. This is just my perspective having Thai & black kids. My son Micah went to Thailand with me in 2022 for the first time. He was 5 and my family in Thailand calls my kids Tiger Woods and Obama.. LOL I don’t believe they have any ill racist intention. Not like Americans. 😊😊

I will agree they might not mean it to come off as racist with ill intent.... but different Americans have experienced Asians like in China - a stranger going up to them and pointing at their black skin and even rubbing their skin to get the black off while hissing or making a noise. Yes, black youtubers have videos of such bad behavior. So it does exist... and even though Thais and are good at bowing as a sign of respect and smiling. There is a lot back-handed comments when a foreigner turns their back or walk-way made as they walk away in Thai language.

I appreciate the fact that he speaks his mind. Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion but it doesn't mean they are right. Past experiences influence the way we think and perceive the world. However, generalization bases on one's experience is not right either. As a Thai who has been living in US for years, I have a lot experience about racism in US. I don't believe in promoting negativity so I will not describe what happened to me. However, I can't say all Americans "racists" based on my own experience because some of my Americans friends are not.
This is different from the kind of vibe I usually get from Oni's videos. I know Oni is very open-minded person and he wants to hear different perspectives from people with different backgrounds. Oni is right that there are good and bad in everything and everyone regardless of how educated the person is. It depends on what we choose.
Finally, my hope is that we all can love and forgive one another despite the differences and disagreement. 🙏

I am sorry, this is misleading. This guy doesn’t look and sound very educated. The way he talked was to make him looks better than other Thais coz he had a “WESTERNISED” upbringing.
The word “negro” came to Asia and Thailand hundred of years ago from a Spanish word to mean black. While this word evolved to become a derogatory in the West, in Thailand, the word retains its original meaning.
It’s not fair to judge Thai people for being racist by using this word coz most people don’t know. Whatever the people of African descents had been through in history, people in Asia do not share the same experience. It’s education in the making to make Asians understand what the magnitude of racism really is. I am not trying to defend or endorse racism here, but how many African came to Asia before decolonization??
The origin of the word “Farang”is still debatable coz the first Europeans that set foot in Ayutthaya were the Portuguese not the French. Why would the Ayutthayan called the Portuguese French???? One of the theory suggested the word was borrowed from an Arabic word “Ferringi“ which means Westerners. In Malay, the word Ferringi means people of Portuguese decent which is probably right as Portuguese were the first westerners that arrived there while the French hardly had anything to do with the Malay peninsula.

@@Rodderz1 The name for the fruit came later. The word "farang" took on a general meaning of "foreign". Thais call chewing gum "mahk farang" which means "foreign betel nut". Potatoes are called "man farang" ("man" includes several varieties of root vegetables).
Bamboo shoots are called "nor mai" (หน่อไม้) in Thai. Can you guess what asparagus is called in Thai?

Racism exists in Thailand, particularly toward ethnic minorities and migrants. The country lacks specific anti-discrimination laws, though there are efforts to create them. To combat racism, Thailand can implement anti-discrimination legislation, educate the public about equality, and promote diversity in media and public life.. overall Thai people are fantastic towards equality.. your guest has his own personal view … compare to US and Europe… Thailand is amazing towards foreign visitors..

I have to say, I found this a little bit difficult to listen to. I look at it from a different angle. Yes, Thailand is a very class structured society and very hierarchical so pretty much everything is ranked and graded. I think, however, it is perhaps not fair to apply the values and cultural norms of one country with all its implied historical references on to another country like Thailand with very different cultural and historical references. I think foreigners, and in this case your guest, try to explain things through a lens which is not altogether relevant to the local situation. In this modern age everyone has an opinion and the loudest most opinionated person drowns out the rest.
Thailand is certainly not politically correct by western standards and I kind of like that. Age, weight, height, ethnicity, wealth, urban, rural, color, just to name a few, are simply used as classifiers and a form of shorthand when talking. Words are simply not loaded with the same level of hate and vitriol that one finds in someplace like the US these days.
From wandering around YT I get the feeling that many black UA-camrs in Thailand appreciate the difference and feel more relaxed and accepted here than they do back home, despite the claims that Thais are racist. I am just an old white guy who has lived in Thailand for nearly five decades so my perspective may not be up-to-date but at worst I find Thais culturally naive but not what I would label as racist.

One of the most obvious example of racism in Thailand is how we used to treat the word "Laos". In the past, we used this word to describe somebody who look dumb and out of place, and something like that, I guess....
As nowadays, the awareness about racism is growing high in our society, and we could barely see anyone who still mistreat the word "Laos". Or anybody else who still try to mistreat it will be getting cancelled real quick.
Needless to say, I don't think the people of Laos would forgive us so easily, as it seem they still hate our gut nowadays, but not much we can do nor care about that. (Political wise, there are many more reasons for them to hate us beside from the racism incident in the past)

shout out to the Thai brother For standing up and dropping some real Gems he was not with shits mixing his words up. its crazy cause ONI didn't want to believe it, being mixed race and hearing a Thai dude tell you a white man put that in their heads and culture. Plus he also understand that Caribbean and African are different races and most don't identify as Black first they identify as Jamaica or Kenyan with tribes he almost even understood that there really is only one Black race which is Indigenous Black Americans since we are the oldest and the creators of culture world wide. No one is more copied than the Indigenous Black American male. even in the uk which has no culture at all it copies . He tried to tell you he grew up in the religion so he knows the polite talk is embeddd in him but even he was treated a certain way just because he has darker skin hue then the majority of Thai people. and he can see how people treat his friends with slick comments played of as just joke or banter. So I like his realness and outspokenness which can be attributed to who exactly , Indigenous Black Americans AhH . anyways thanks brother ONI keep do your thing and thank the Thai brother again for putting that awareness out his voice is needed .

@@WORLDOFONI Genesis 6 tell you that Nephilims were here before and after the flood. They seen how beautiful the Jew(white) women are and had of spring with them. But the cross breeding made humans violent which angered God to flood the earth. (Africans enslaved the Jews for over 400 years and refused to release them which God gave them 10 plagues and curled their hair and darkened their skins). The Book of Enoch which was removed from the Bible is excellent to read/audio here on UA-cam. All this hatred and anger does NOT come from the authentic Jews, but from the cross breeds with Nephilims. Thats also why the white devils say the whites are bad for democracy/satanism/communism.

Good podcast. IMO, Race for Thias is somewhat different than the concept of race in the Western world. It stems from a more of an ethno- asiatic viewpoint. The western concept of race has been only introduced recently in thier long history. The concept of lighter verses darker is mainly an ancient class issue in Asian culture as opposed to the west, predating their interaction with Europeans for thousands of years.
Has their interactions with the western world been influenced? Of course. As a Black American, i can say we have also. However, some bros have been mistakenly projecting our Western experience of " racism"/colorism upon Thias. Look, I've seen the most vicious, contentious " racial" interactions between Thais and Cambodians. Ive seen Thais be unapologetically "racist towards white Farang. I've also witnessed Thais themselves experience some of the most demeaning forms of class/ racism, working as foreigners in the Middle East..

I have to admit that I could not finish this video. I had to turn it off half of the way. It’s not because of the subject but the way he talked with too much hatred. Let me educate him a little. Please don’t under the full “N” word. You are hurting people with that word when to use it 5 times. And stop using it”F…” word too much. You do not need to swear it every minute when you talk. People will listen to you more.

Let me show you why that way of thinking doesn't work and never will. Go around calling all the female members of your family a widely known derogatory term, for westerners it's the "B"word, and do it in a way that has no ill intent, and when they ask you to stop, tell them "you give words too much power", then keep calling them whatever word that is. See why that doesn't work?
What's actually needed is a willingness to learn and get educated on why you shouldn't be speaking a certain way. Telling someone "I'm going to speak the way I want and you need to accept that because I don't mean it in a bad way" is asinine and will hold you back in more situations than it will propel you.
