Good video. I have a tip: use superglue and build up layers with baking soda. As soon as the superglue comes in contact with the baking soda it hardens so you can work fast. I've used this on so many plastic repairs, you can even use it to make missing parts if you mold a piece of putty.
superb video! for those who have a rane one but have no problems with your paddles at the moment, i recommend doing this. i have no problems with my paddles but decided to add hot glue. i didn't add as much as in the video but enough just all around the base of the lens cylinder. a good trick i did was that before i re-attached the paddles back onto the board switches i put 2 layers of thin napkin around the cylinder and slid the paddles back onto it making it a perfect, snug fit. the paddles felt waaaaay more durable and honestly gave it a better feel to it. the paddles actually feels better than when i first got it brand new :)
I did a similar repair to my Honda Accord temperature adjustment knob. The plastic boss that rotates the shaft would split. I replaced it with good working junkyard parts but they just kept failing in the same way. So I slid a little brass sleeve over the plastic boss and glued it in place. I drove the car for another 100k miles and it never failed again.
The paddle lenses I ordered finally arrived, 6 months later, after I no longer need them. Rane added reinforcements to prevent the lens from breaking with the new parts.
Hey Paul. I have been watching many of your video's they are great! One thing that could be improved upon is sound quality caused by room acoustics, by wearing a mike instead of using the integrated mike in the camera. Just a little tip, please keep doing what you're doing!
Wow! This is such an amazing and informative video! My friend's paddle broke on his Rane One and he has no idea what to do as Rane is no help. I'm gonna send him this video. I also just bought a Rane One 2 months ago. My paddles currently still work but I'm thinking about reinforcing them with hot glue like you did to keep them from ever breaking. Thanks so much for this video!!!
for this there needs to be effects paddles metal but really a recall over this at the price we payed for this ..........this needs to addressed to them
I just bought a Rane Four. I'm new to DJing so this is all new to me. I like to be able to fix my stuff so finding teardown videos like this is GREAT. Has Rane changed the design for the paddle? I don't want to void my warranty to find out but I will definitely keep this hack in mind if I have the same problem. These are supposed to be 'professional controllers' . Thanks again for taking the time to make this video and for wearing a lab coat while doing techie stuff. Just need a german accent.
Ok, they are not the same. Cider is usually not pasteurized and unfiltered and therefore can't be stored for a long time. The grocery store rarely has cider but always has apple juice. My point is: in a hot whiskey cider, the juice works just fine.
First time mine broke. It was tbe plastic. Sexond time its broken. Stripped it down and then realised its the actual toggles on the pcb at 5:41 any idea how i can repair this part?
@Lab Coat Paul are you able to give an advise on an issue I have with my Rane One if you don't mind? The LP/HP Knob remains activated despite the knob positioned back to the 12 o clock position
@@jeffreygarcia8433 I really think this is definitely a component failure considering the Rane One is the first DJ controller Rane built. @LabCoatPaul I would love to email you a video clip also I think I know what needs to be replaced but unsure if Rane would supply the part directly to me.
they need to recall all raneone owners of the rane one and all paddle switch metal we need to make a forum and sent it you them to make this fix ......your paying alot of money this could happen no way
Do you know the outer diameter of that plastic sleeve that broke? To re-enforce it you could slip a brass sleeve or olive around it and glue it on. That should make it bombproof.
Paul, so I'm trying to remove the effects paddle circuit board but the two connector clips seem impossibly hard to remove? How long did it take you to wiggle those outta there? I've been trying for like 30 minutes and nothing is moving and I'm afraid of damaging the wires. Thanks!!
The parts are hard to get in Canada. Even if replaced with a new part it could break again. I'm going to look into improving this part so this doesn't happen again and is readily available.
Another little tip was my homie made a little brass bushel to slide over the flimsy plastic peg before it started to have a chance to snap, worked like a charm…why they didn’t use some kimda metal to begin with is beyond me….
3 months after I made this video, the paddles I ordered showed up. The new plastic lens has a small reinforcement for the plastic, but I think it can still break.
Thanks man. I had some FUBAR shit go down tonight with somebody touching my controller while I was not around and have a broken paddle. HOW IS THIS A 'PRO' UNIT????

That's a good tip. I'll try that next time I'm fixing plastic stuff.

Very smart!
I repaired mine but didn’t think about reinforcing it with hot glue.. Good tip, might pull it apart to make it future fault proof

Best instructional video I’ve seen on ANYTHING!!!
LOL I don't DJ and I don't know what the Raine one is. But this is a great tutorial if I ever come across a broken one.
Thank you!! The same exact thing happened to my Rane board and I’ve been trying to figure out how to replace it. Very helpful and informative video 🙏🏾

This is a great video…. I appreciate the details… and yes … Rane needs to step their game up… 48 hrs later… my switch is definitely broken….
Great Video. Nice instruction. Just picked up the Rane One. I'll know ahead of time to take it "Easy" on the Effects Toggle.

Yup!!! Mine Just Broke. Super annoyed but I'm glad I found this tutorial. Gonna try it.
Glad I could help! Good luck with the repair.
Thank you so much! This is exactly my problem! Urgh... Im fixing my rane one tomorrow!
Thank you so much. I've been looking for this video.
00:00:49 haha I don't know what a Rain One is but I'll look out for a cheap one with broken knobs to fix 🤙
Good repair tip and information! Thanks for sharing!

Try turning off your controller and computer. After restarting, if the issue is only one of the filter knobs, it might be a bad knob.
@@LabCoatPaul Thank you for your reply. The knob is 99.9% faulty. I have a video clip of this but unsure how I can send this to you for you to watch?
This is happening to me as well~

The quality of the motherboard is to blame. Am having the EXACT same issue

Did you ever got the paddle lens for the Rane one that you ordered
No. The lens is not available so I fixed it with hot glue.
@@LabCoatPaul and is still holding on
Nice video ? Will this work with the rane 72 mk2 mixer.
The rane 72 has the same effects toggles, so I'm guessing it will work.
I have the parts lists and cross referenced. The 70/72/One all use the same paddle lense part #
Where can I buy the lens? I can’t seem to find anyone who sells it?
That was my problem too. I couldn't buy a lens so I glued mine back together.
Amazing! Thanks
Thanks a lot 😪
master thanks
Are you located in Colorado so I can pay you to fix me lense
Thanks man. I had some FUBAR shit go down tonight with somebody touching my controller while I was not around and have a broken paddle. HOW IS THIS A 'PRO' UNIT????
Ah you have a Rayne now!
Yup. It's pretty sweet except for it breaking right away.
@@LabCoatPaul I want to see it some time!, all the drama is gone these days :P
On Rane Four they reinforced this plastic peace but not legit.
Anyway very gentle, Rane is a fragile peace 🤣 even build like a tank
Wow mine just broke they should of make it metal 😂 I’m going back to 1200s technics
It is metal, except for the plastic part inside that breaks. It's a bad design for sure.
I should have bought an S11 and Phase for REAL!!
De verdad pagar 1200euros para que este le pase despues.yo paso de comprarla.tengouna numark y hasta dia dehoy va de maravilla😅
Yea what a silly design.
The hot glue is a good fix.
Thanks for video
But Rane is a sheet
Amazing! Thank you!
