Polo GTi - best all rounder, nicest interior, subtle design, sophisticated and much more chuckable than the Golf. Great car, very underrated though but that's good for owners imo.
Bob The Bob insurance has increased so much recently, and when I got the car, it wasn't out for too long, so premiums were lower due to less accidents and claims registered against the car
hahaha same for me but i will use the handy down yaris for 1 year then trade in and get the polo gti no matter what, looks the tits the polo plus driving a yaris is slow XD
The 2016 Polo GTI looks a lot more like the old mk2 and mk3 Golf GTI's, which is another big plus. Current VW's are looking too rounded and refined to my tastes. Too much Audi in the design language. If this continues I might have to get a Skoda in the future! :P
Just started watching your channel, literally live in Weaverham round the corner from you, been wanting a 1.4 polo gti dsg for a while now. I have been driving for nearly 2 years and im nearly 19, the cheapest quote i can get without a box is £4k. Prices are ridiculous! What do you reckon the best thing to do is?
Stumbled across your channel when searching for reviews of the polo Gti. Think your doing amazing considering you have a relatively small channel the quality is great and your videos are brilliant. Keep it up your gonna be big one day.
I like these cars and I’m considering one as my next. I currently drive an UP! Fantastic car and has nice options (cruise control is a boon) but it’s slow as molasses. I like power not necessarily to drive like a race car but for the more relaxing drive, less gear changes, more confident motorway overtakes etc. I’m torn between the fact that my current car will be paid off next year and treating myself to something fun. I think if I did get a GTI I’d be tempted to debadge it. I don’t care about status, but it is funny as fuck being a lot quicker than people think you are.
Love the Polo GTI, quite overlooked IMO. Lucky bugger being able to afford one at 18 though! On the other hand I had a rich mate who had fast cars at 18 and he didn’t half get through them - was upside down or in the hedge more than he was on the bloody road!
23k damn, serious money for a Polo GTI. My car is a C220 (AMG styling pack), was less than that, which seems such better value. Insurance is killer for you at 18 though, I'm 22, 5 years no claims, £950
I had a manual polo gti in white and it was a crackin little car but I was really pandering after a Golf R so I traded the little Gti and got a Golf R and its fuckin brilliant but yeah the little Gti is a capable little machine with 320nm torque😆
The ST is down on power? It's 197bhp so 8bhp up on the Polo (and lighter.) As for the torque, Mountune MP215 for around £650 and it'll be at 236lb-ft, and 212bhp. Yes the ST is a much more common sight on the roads but that's because it's the better car for less money. But as long as you're happy with your choice!
Richard Hurr at the time of purchasing the polo, the fiesta st was running at 179bhp. (2013/2017) models. I have to say the st is a better drivers car, but I just prefer the look of the GTI as well as the build quality. But both cracking cars
REAL TORQUE yeah that's not technically true! They're marketed as "Fiesta ST 180" but actually produce 197bhp on overboost. Overboost is available for 15 seconds a time and resets every time you lift your foot off so in the real world you're getting 197bhp all of the time. Just a marketing thing to do with laws. In America they're marketed as 200hp (197bhp).
REAL TORQUE yep. Pays to do your research lol. Although I think you'd have still got the Polo GTi. I agree it's better built with a better cabin (although prefer the ST Recaro seats) and will be more refined on the road. ST's being common is kind of annoying but I guess testament to how highly rated it is. I have an ST btw lol.
Polo GTI is underrated. That’s because people tend to pick on the Golf. I want to get one myself. It’s a smart choice. It’s got a decent acceleration, it’s cheap, fuel consumption is not high, cheap parts, unique at its style and you pay less insurance
I was in the same game, it was an A1 185 or Polo GTI at 18. I ended up getting the Audi and I pay near on a grand for my insurance no black box! Also came from a Polo 06 plate 1.4 haha
Looking to get a GTI for my car next year. Will be 19 and have 2 years no claims. What’s it like to drive? Just trying to get an idea. Much prefer the Polo styling over the Fiesta st, VXR corsa’s etc
Jack they are great fun to drive, however make sure you're running decent tyres. Standard tyres are pretty good but invest in some michelins if you can. Other than that cracking car, and great value for money
Thanks for letting me know, found the same kind of problem with my current car, front wheels just can’t grip, especially in Scotland where it’s raining 90% of the time. Going to shop about and see what I can get for my money.
George Eckersall so I was 18 when I first got the car. With 1 years NBC and it was 2k. The second year of owning the car. 19, 2 years no claims it was 1600. Both with Churchill
I got a Polo Gti 2016 as my first car when I was 19 (passed at 17) and the insurance was 700 quid for the year. That's with no claims and no black box too. 2nd year now, I am paying 900 due to the insurance prices going up for a lot of people. Really like the look of the white one you got actually, the pearl black I got is a pain to keep clean.
I guess there wasn't much of them around at the time and there wasn't much bad data for the insurance to bring the price quite high at the time. I did look into getting a bmw 320d (new one too) at the time and that was £1600.
Just realised I drive past you loads, you live in the same area as me pal. I've got a white polo R-line and thinking of upgrading or just doing some custom work to mine, so the vid has helped massively.
Bangs per buck you did well. The new Polo GTI (January/February 2018 release in Australia), is supposed to be bigger in most dimensions. At 6'3" tall I'm holding out as the current model is a bit tight. Golf GTI's are everywhere here...
Great video, I’m looking at a polo gti right now I’ve driven both manual and dsg and really loved the dsg. I know you’ve moved on now from it just wanted to know was it worth it? Can pick one up second hand around 14k now and that’s in and around my budget. Any other recommendations?
X F true true but seriously consider trying to buy a 2017 1.8 gti cause they stopped making them I think when the 2018 model came out but you can get them with like 10k on em and get the 1.8 cause it makes your insurance like half the price cause a standard 2.0L is in a different insurance bracket
Nathan Hindley A number of reasons (in my opinion); the added rarity of the Cupra, especially where I live I never see another. Not to mention it's the last Ibiza Cupra therefore making it a potentially appreciating asset in time. It has a harder/lower suspension set up as well as driving position giving it a sportier feel, as well as sportier and more aggressive looks. The Cupra also has more leg room weirdly enough, and a better looking interior in my opinion, the tartan seats in GTI's is dated and cheap looking too
ekim andersom I don't know why, but seating recently announced they won't be making another Ibiza Cupra, instead they'll be putting in the 1.5t engine in FR models. The only model brandishing the Cupra logo will be the Leon in future.
JOYDEEP MITRA as much as it hurts to say, you're actually right. Don't get me wrong, it's fun and a good laugh. But if I waited a little longer could of been in something serious
Polo GTi - best all rounder, nicest interior, subtle design, sophisticated and much more chuckable than the Golf. Great car, very underrated though but that's good for owners imo.
18 ? you look 26 mate.
Conrad Claassen haha well I'm 19 now
under £2k withought a blackbox?!
thats what im being quoted with a blackbox for a 1.0 yaris and im 18
Bob The Bob insurance has increased so much recently, and when I got the car, it wasn't out for too long, so premiums were lower due to less accidents and claims registered against the car
well insurance companies will rip us all off as much as they can.
hahaha same for me but i will use the handy down yaris for 1 year then trade in and get the polo gti no matter what, looks the tits the polo plus driving a yaris is slow XD
Just turned 19 and bought my self a silver polo gti👌🏽
Justin Fields nice man! Where abouts do you live?
No you did not, your parents did.
The golf r is a better buy second hand
Same
19 as well, bought myself one in red
The 2016 Polo GTI looks a lot more like the old mk2 and mk3 Golf GTI's, which is another big plus. Current VW's are looking too rounded and refined to my tastes. Too much Audi in the design language. If this continues I might have to get a Skoda in the future! :P
Am planning to get one of these when I turn 19 2 years experience for 2k insurance not to bad, thanks mate
Damn you british are rich xD
Łukasz Paluch nope we just have very expensive insurence
My insurance fully comp for one of these after 2 years driving at 19 is 900 quid. Why yours so expensive mate getting ripped off their
How in fucks name did u pay less than 2k without black box??? I got quoted 4.5k😂
TopCar10s same loool
Having the exact same dilemma ST or GTI agree with everything you said regarding it. Feeling the GTI
which did you end up choosing??
Just started watching your channel, literally live in Weaverham round the corner from you, been wanting a 1.4 polo gti dsg for a while now. I have been driving for nearly 2 years and im nearly 19, the cheapest quote i can get without a box is £4k. Prices are ridiculous! What do you reckon the best thing to do is?
Lee Briscall hi buddy! No way! Hmmm insurance is a funny one. Shopping about is always good but see what happens when your parents on the policy
What website you use to get a insurance quote of 1900 without a blackbox ?
Churchill buddy
Stumbled across your channel when searching for reviews of the polo Gti. Think your doing amazing considering you have a relatively small channel the quality is great and your videos are brilliant. Keep it up your gonna be big one day.
cool98098 thanks man! It's always nice waking up to see a comment like this. Really appreciate it

Oh my god I'm 18 and I currently own a 55 plate 1.2 polo and I'm currently saving to this this car 😂😂
I have a red 5 door Polo GTI and I've wanted some plates similar to yours. Think they look so cool! Really suit the car
Jake Stevens they're nine aren't they. If you follow fullhousecustoms on instagram he'll sort you out
Love the Polo GTI, quite overlooked IMO. Lucky bugger being able to afford one at 18 though! On the other hand I had a rich mate who had fast cars at 18 and he didn’t half get through them - was upside down or in the hedge more than he was on the bloody road!
MrArchie800 they are great little cars! And really? I don't drive stupidly so hopefully I won't be flipping cars haha
Cheers boss. Literally looking at these so this helps a lot
JP Gaming no worries bro
23k damn, serious money for a Polo GTI. My car is a C220 (AMG styling pack), was less than that, which seems such better value. Insurance is killer for you at 18 though, I'm 22, 5 years no claims, £950
Legend Galaxy I think I just got extra for sake of it haha
I had a manual polo gti in white and it was a crackin little car but I was really pandering after a Golf R so I traded the little Gti and got a Golf R and its fuckin brilliant but yeah the little Gti is a capable little machine with 320nm torque😆
White Anglo Saxon Protestant. I know right haha. I'm looking to upgrade soon

Oh really? I never actually knew that

Richard Hurr haha thought so, maybe we could meet up and get your car on the channel?
23 grand? Could have got a golf GTI in a good spec for sub 20 with insurance still would have been cheaper.
Adam15197 the insurance for the golf was over 2.5k more then the polo. But tbf I did rush into buying this
Hey man , do u think this would be a good first car? Ps I live in the UK to
A car with this speed is really not suitable for s first car, learn to drive properly first
"those are the reasons why I decided to go for this"
Sarah Jones I did say it too much 😂😂
I generally like your videos but I think you should buy a sport car for the fun factor and not for the status or specs.
Polo GTI is underrated. That’s because people tend to pick on the Golf. I want to get one myself. It’s a smart choice. It’s got a decent acceleration, it’s cheap, fuel consumption is not high, cheap parts, unique at its style and you pay less insurance
How’s you B class then mate?
I was in the same game, it was an A1 185 or Polo GTI at 18. I ended up getting the Audi and I pay near on a grand for my insurance no black box!
Also came from a Polo 06 plate 1.4 haha
ThatGuyNamedScott. C the a1 is still a lovely motor
Looking to get a GTI for my car next year. Will be 19 and have 2 years no claims. What’s it like to drive? Just trying to get an idea. Much prefer the Polo styling over the Fiesta st, VXR corsa’s etc

Lewis Garland it's on finance buddy, but was saving for a while

argh666 happy to meet up and show you my earnings and bank statements
@@realtorque should of saved for a deposit on a house
Which insurance company are you with? and how long had you been driving when you got the car/got it insured?
George Eckersall so I was 18 when I first got the car. With 1 years NBC and it was 2k. The second year of owning the car. 19, 2 years no claims it was 1600. Both with Churchill
I'm getting mine on the 30th/07 my 19th birthday, can't wait
Tommy Doe you got it?
Great vid, what insurance company you with
Vphelon thanks buddy, I'm with Churchill. But prices just seem to keep on rising
Tell us about your plates ... custom made ? How are they attached ?
Thanks
thebesttheworst private raised number plate buddy, from fullhousecustoms. They're stuck on with some kind of heavy duty double sided tape
You can buy gel plates off ebay, and to stick it on use 3M double sided tape. Can be found in halfords
quality cars, big fan of them myself so really good choice. :)
cool upload, I'm looking into either a polo gti, arbarth competizone or cupra
Archers thanks buddy, the only advise I can give is test drive them all, bare in mind new models of Both the Ibiza and polo are out early next year
My second year insurance for the polo gti is 800 ;) no BB
£2.000 for insurance..
..holy fuck m8 lol
How the hell you able to spend 23k at 18?
Most you've gotten out of the gti?
oblivionjaycee about 140 but didn't want to push it all the wat

savage
looking forward to watching this tonight :D
GeXExtremist ahhh man thank you!
did you not consider getting a Seat Leon SC??
Richard Mills no I didn't, I should have looked about a bit more
What's the speaker system like in the car?
Brissoboy4 standard speakers are actually pretty decent
Put an amp and a sub sounds ways better
I’m considering moving over to a polo gti from a fiesta st
Just realised I drive past you loads, you live in the same area as me pal. I've got a white polo R-line and thinking of upgrading or just doing some custom work to mine, so the vid has helped massively.
sam rayner I think I've seen you around! Have you for the black coloured splitter? And thanks buddy! We should meet up some time!
REAL TORQUE Yeh thats the one, I'm getting it done up in a few weeks so will deffo have to meet up after that!
sam rayner sounds good buddy, add me up on instagram @chrisvieiraaa speak on there
REAL TORQUE I'll do it now pal
sam rayner buddy! Your car is looking mint! Of not got instagram anymore, here's my number 07947452689 drop me a message
Bangs per buck you did well. The new Polo GTI (January/February 2018 release in Australia), is supposed to be bigger in most dimensions. At 6'3" tall I'm holding out as the current model is a bit tight. Golf GTI's are everywhere here...
DrWHOs Tardis thanks buddy. Yeah the polo's are quite tight for taller people, especially those sitting in the back
How is the reliability, service costs and road tax compared to the vxr and st?
So would it make a good first car? And how old were you when you got the polo gti
Just bought myself a Polo GTI at 21. Insurance only cost me just under £800. Pick it up Wednesday, so exited.
Matthew Sharples your insurance is dirt cheap lool. Congrats on the new car btw
Can relate to the insurance aha, I'm 19 and have a 7 golf GTI and the insurance is 2500...
Ben it's so hard nowadays. I couldn't even get insured on a golf. Prices are just a joke nowadays haha
?where abouts u from
Ben I was in London, but moved up to cheshire recently
REAL TORQUE yeah I'm from London, insurance is a big sting
Ben whereabouts in London are ya fella?
Get a 16 plate golf r for 2300 wud kill that stone dead 1.8 gti r dead
you were only 2 years late
Cool video, nice drive by shots 😉😂
Harry Molyneux thanks haha
i might get this as my 1st car 🤔would u recommend it?
chi chi yes just be careful with the power. Can sometimes be too much for new drivers
ok, thanks!
Is this a 1.4 or the 1.8?
Where did you get insured by?
No mention of the Cooper S?
Love the videos mate keep em up
Dylan Giles thanks buddy! Appreciate the support
Mate you spent 23k on a Manual polo gti, not knocking the car as they are amazing but manual and 23k oh boy
Great video, I’m looking at a polo gti right now I’ve driven both manual and dsg and really loved the dsg. I know you’ve moved on now from it just wanted to know was it worth it? Can pick one up second hand around 14k now and that’s in and around my budget. Any other recommendations?
Clark Barn cracking car for the money and great for your first hot hatch
REAL TORQUE thanks for the reply man, I’d say my limit is about 16k for a second hand hot hatchback would you say a polo gti would be the best option?
Always ready to indicate
where did you get your steering wheel from
In the exact same position as I’m in rn mate 😂 swaying toward the gti
matt elkins you’ll love it trust me
Is this a 1.4 ? If so does it drink oil
This is the 1.8.
The 1.4 drinks oil due to the supercharger and turbo charged engine
What about the 208 Gti?
Joe Hague I did forget to mention that, the Peugeot look wise, just wasn't aggressive enough for my liking if I'm being honest. Great cars though
Really love the polo gti’s. I’m 17 and looking to get one and drive as 2nd driver to drop the insurance
X F you won’t build no claim bonus so in the future your insurance won’t drop at all
Marcus Wilson I meant i will drive it for a few years and at around 21 your insurance price drops anyways no matter you no claim bonus’
X F true true but seriously consider trying to buy a 2017 1.8 gti cause they stopped making them I think when the 2018 model came out but you can get them with like 10k on em and get the 1.8 cause it makes your insurance like half the price cause a standard 2.0L is in a different insurance bracket
Marcus Wilson thanks for that bro 👊💯
X F np ‼️
You spoilt child 😂
Jamie Long ?
Whats the mpg like?
Spg* (smiles per gallon) lol
Nice, but should've got a Cupra
Jack Owen same here! 👌🏽
Jack Owen explain why
Nathan Hindley.. it's the same car.. but looks better and is cheaper! and you won't find a lot of them driving around
not worth buying
JOYDEEP MITRA as much as it hurts to say, you're actually right. Don't get me wrong, it's fun and a good laugh. But if I waited a little longer could of been in something serious
JOYDEEP MITRA Dont talk pish pal.The little Gti is a crackin wee car. What would you rather have,an ST with tranny van interiors?
RABBI SCHLOMO At least the ST is actually interesting. Not to mention VW's are made of wheetabix these days.
