I've been using the Mom deathmantle + Ashnod's Altar +Myr Battlesphere since I started playing three years ago when Scars of Mirrodin was released and I thought I was the first person to discover that combo! Love these videos
And now I'm making a modern temur token deck, my god, thanks guys. I love it when you do these little videos. And you've made commander so much more fun for me. Adding the 1 dollar restriction when I'm building my decks has actually made my commander decks way more competitive and fun because every card has some weird sort of synergy. AND, because I'm spending so much less than other players, I never have to get bogged down with a single commander deck, so every game I can pull someone new from my collection and have a really great time.

Presence of Gond / Midnight Guard was my first combo discovery, and it made me realize I was a johnny who preferred janky super-synergies to individually powerful cards. I'm tempted to put all of these in the same commander deck. Great work!
It also works in a Pia and Kiran Nalar EDH deck as Nalar can be the commander making it so you always have one half of the Combo, and the resulting Thopters are flying so they can block almost anything that attacks you.
for number 3, using maverick thopterist might be better as it has improvise, and both nim deathmantle and ashnods alter are artifacts. I guess the earliest you could get it is turn 4. Turn 1 island/mana vault, turn 2 mountain/nim deathmantle, turn 3 any land/ashnods alter(using mana vault) then tap ashnods alter, nim deathmantal and your lands to play maverick thopterist then you win!
We need a deck tech with all combos! I have a suggestion for future videos! Would it be possible to add pros and cons for each deck from now on? Also it would be cool if you added it to previous decks! Thanks for combos ideas, you guys are great!
Actually Ruud wanted to build a deck tech with all the combos Dromega1gaming :). The pros and cons was something we experimented with at the very beginning and then because of time constraints we decided to pull it. However we are going to do gameplay videos and in those we will discuss the pros and cons of the decks as a compromise ;).
I actually made a token/madness deck recently, using Call the Bloodline as a quick and dirty madness outlet, with Campaign of Vengeance to essentially make it so that as long as there's a copy of it in play, my opponent HAS to take damage when I attack. And Invasive surgery because it's fun to remove the removal.
+Stefan S I get that they're infinite combos; I wasn't suggesting that Altar made them finite or that they were finite without the Altar. I was simply stating that having something that triggered to "kill" the opponent using the ETBT of the combo might be helpful. Also, it fits your theme of being budget and very easy to have out at 1CMC and not using any resources. Nothing more frustrating that assembling an infinite combo and making a million dudes only to say "go", have your opponent untap and boardwipe. At least with Altar they die on their draw phase...
Coat of Arms would also be a good combination with these infinite combos. +1/+1 for each creature that shares at least 1 creature type with another monster for every other creature of that type. so if you have 100 elf warriors, they'd all get +99/+99, assuming you have no other warriors or elves on the field. Good video btw.
Awesome, actually most of those combos include White, Blue and Green. A Budget Roon of the Hidden Realm EDH can be done with all those enter the battlefield abilities. And those token combos with Hair-Strung Koto and Altar of the Brood are instant wins. Perfect for a multiplayer EDH game.
goblin spam/burn- cards needed: Krenko Mob Boss, Intruder Alarm, voracious dragon, conjurer's closet play intruder alarm(creatures don't untap on controllers untap phase and whenever a creature enters the Battlefield all creatures untap) then play something like fervor giving all creatures haste. after that play krenko, tap, get goblins. he untaps, tap him again and so on so forth. have conjurer's closet out, and when voracious dragon enters, he deals damage of twice the amount of goblins he devoured . i did this in a four way match. had 181000 goblins, used half of them to kill one person, attacked with the others, used krenko all of them untapped and i got all my 181000 goblins back, pulled dragon out of conjurers closet, killed the last person
I made a proxy deck that worked with a similar strategy. Mostly sliver queen, a mana sliver, and two doubling enchantments. Once it hits critical mass you get infinite slivers with infinite power and toughness, indestructible, haste, trample, and can be tapped for infinite mana of any color. The queen might be a little pricey but AFAIK the rest is all relatively cheap.
That sounds like a brutal combo. Usually doubling enchantments are outside our price range though, but still nice to mention the cards here in case someone else wants to try it out ;).
Budget MTG Decks It's true, the ones I use are about $7 and $50 each, although you could swap out the $50 version for a $0.80 version, but it makes the deck a lot trickier.
Awesome video. I actually use impact tremors for my standard red white tokens deck and does some serious damage when I have token spam such as hordeling outburst or token generator such as rabblemaster or monastery mentor on the field.
Hey man I love the videos. I pulled a combo off the other day that I did not know about. It might not be less than a dollar but I think it still fits in the budget category. Shattergang Brothers + Anger + Blood Artist + Squirrel's Nest + Earthcraft + Cryptolithic Rite. Blood Artist seals the deal here but is not needed to win. Just makes the game go ALOT faster! Make infinite tokens with Squirrel's Nest and Earthcraft, then Cryptolithic Rite allows those tokens to tap for any color mana, which you can then use for Shattergang Brothers 2B- sac a creature, everybody else sacs a creature and finally Blood Artist triggers as many times as you had tokens. Game is won. If you want to add insult to injury then have out Grave Pact to ensure you can be the only one with creatures.
I do not run Anger in this Death and Taxes style Shattergang EDH so I had to wait a turn with an absurd amount of 1/1 tokens but I won as soon as my turn hit.

For Token synergy even though it is not one dollar or less Purphoros, God of The Forge, is also nice in a group setting as it deals 2 damage to each opponent when a creature enters the battlefield.

Could use some of these to create like a Budget Splinter Twin deck :) You guys should do deck builder videos :) Would love to see what decks you could come up with that could possibly be competitive.
We are afraid that budget splinter twin is not really possible +USMC KOONTZ. However we do have loads of deck tech videos for commander and casual so check those out. In the future we will be doing Modern deck tech videos too so stay tuned for that ;)
Not all the cards are under $1 but its still a pretty crazy infinite token/life gain combo. Infinite tokens; Aetherflux reservoir (damage to player) Darien, king of kjeldor (makes tokens from taking damage) Soul warden (gain 1 life per creature ETB) + infinite lifegain Suture priest (life on creature ETB) Soul's attendant (life on creature ETB) Gain infinite life then use the reservoir to finish the game, or swing infinitely wide at everyone.
Budget MTG Decks once you have 51 life you target yourself with aetherflux reservoir, which triggers Darien making an amount of tokens equal to the damage you took, which triggers soul warden giving you 1 life for each creature that enters the battlefield under your control. Having multiple creatures with that effect like souls attendant or suture priest will gain you more than the 50 damage you originally took from aetherflux reservoir.
Budget MTG Decks true, although it's probably much easier to do in commander as Darien could be you're commander and you start with 40 over 20. Which i thinks fair because it's not just an infinite combo, it's potential infinite tokens, life, removal, and damage if you have all the pieces. One of which being 51 life.
Add Impact Tremors to any of those combos and you get an instant win. Especially to the Midnight Guard + Presence of Gond combo. It does wonders in pauper!!!

Hey, great list of token combos, I'll definitely be using some of those in my own decks. However, combo #5 (Sinking Morselhoarder Defenses) is actually not a legal combo. You cannot untap a permanent that is not already tapped.. "701.17b To untap a permanent, rotate it back to the upright position from a sideways position. Only tapped permanents can be untapped." Seeing as Morselhoarder is untapped at the beginning of the combo, Sinking Feeling's ability cannot be activated. There are ways around it, however. By enchanting Morselhoarder with something like Burning Anger, Fire Whip, or something that allows you to tap Morselhoarder before activating its ability, along with Sinking Feeling's ability.
We understand the confusions, however it does work. You see untapping an untapped permanent is impossible and can't be done hence if this would be part of the cost the combo would not work. However if it is part of an effect i.e. after the : then you do everything possible and ignore the impossible. So you can pay the cost for the combo and put a -1/-1 on Morselhorder and then you ignore the effect because you can't untap the already untapped Morselhorder. tldr: Impossible costs can't be ignored, impossible effects can be.
Combo 1 also works with boros charming a hornet nest and having a "tap to fight" spell, add hammer of purpheros and you kill them turn 3 with enough ramp.
Add Ivy Lane Denizen to presence of the midnight guard. "Whenever another green creature enters the battlefield under your control, put a +1 +1 counter on target creature"
On number 3, I usually just call it the NimNod combo since I use it in multiple different tribal/token decks Edit: its also incredibly versatile giving infinite ETB, death triggers, and theoretically infinite colorless mana
For the Xenograft and Turntimber Ranger combo, if you had a Feed The Pack in play you could sac the Ranger at the beginning of your end step and pretty much double the number of token creatures you made. How you'd make use of them in that case I'm not sure, but I'm sure someone could think of something.
Number 4 would not work as you say :/ when you tap a creature, you are only tapping the creature, not permanents attached to it. Just fyi (: love the videos!!
As we see it works fine, you don't need to tap the illusionists bracers for the combo to work (in the video the artifact is not tapped, just attached to the creature).
love the midnight guard one. it's the easiest. the cheapeast mana wise. and only takes 2 cards and then next you know you declare to bring out 100 tokens or more. lol
Is there a way to get infinite goblins in modern via Krenko, Mob Boss, Beetleback Chief, or something along those lines. If possible low mana cost and red. Any suggestions helps. It does not absolutely have to be red or low mana cost just trying to make it fit in better.
Number 4 also goes with Krenko,Mob Boss. He has: Tap, Put X 1/1 red goblin creature tokens onto the battlefield, where X is the number of Goblins you control. If i'm wrong or right please answer.
It's a combination of factors, the camera has a basic microphone, the room is relatively empty and I was standing too far away from the camera in these top 5 episodes. We will try to improve the quality after the next top 5 (the next one has already been recorded).
Usually it has been fine, this episode was just particularly jarring for me, either way I love these video's, and as a token love I am sure to put one of these in my deck
if you built a deck the right way you could have infinite tokens, tap/untap strat, mana of any color and colorless, draw, mill, life, turns, slavelock, infinitely strong creature, endless deck, multiple instant win strats, a way to prevent loss via decking out(technically 2 one prevents it one makes you win if it happens) the ability to force a draw(infinite loop that doesnt stop one you dont have a choice over) or stall games forever early turn win strats and ways to hold them off. itd be bad. no one would want to play it once they figured it out in the long run, however you would have the ability to win quick without showing off the whole deck. plus game 1 you could win with one strat game 2 another then draw game 3 or lose or whatever. since alot of the infinite combos can use some of the same cards and you can do longer work arounds that also work with other cards to do the same thing in a shorter way you can sorta play the deck in an interesting way. even if they cut off cards to try and disrupt a combo you have another way to get there. youd probably still want alot of counters and a few safe measures against board wipes and stuff like that.
Question! would Flourishing Def. combed with eather Illness in the Ranks or Virulent Plague cause a ifintity loop of both 1/1 elf warrior tokens and -1/-1 counters?
with Magic Origins now..... Nim Assembly Alter for thopter tokens. im sure it would be a U/R deck. Go for Impact Tremors and Outpost Siege Don't know if there budget but Infinite thopters and infinite damage. all in one deck.
To add to the red/blue thopter deck. Alter+Tidewater+Bracers+Tomb Sac a thopter to the later for 2 mana, use that mana to tap Tomb for life equal to the number of colorless creatures you control. Use tidewater/bracers to untap Tomb. And keep it cycling till out run out of thopters. But you can alternate between this combo and the other one. I don't think you will run of them any time soon.
Dont forget about Purpheros either, he deals 2 evry time a creature enters. hes impact tremors for 2 more colorless, (edit) 2 co,lorless more, sorry about that . also PURPHEROS deals the damage, meaning infect is possible if they have crazy life gain.
True +Tanther Panther, we didn't include Purphoros as he is over a dollar. Also does crazy life gain matter when you do an infinite amount of damage? :P

They are about as fun to play with as Telepathy... The card that forced me to stop making my decks OP, because nobody wanted to play with me anymore after putting that one in my deck... If a store opens locally (as I moved two years ago to an area without any card store), I might get back into the game. If I do, I'll definitely try some of these combos out.
Too bad you don't have a local store +morphman86, have you tried just getting a group of friends at your house or a coffee shop to play? That's what we sometimes do and it really helps for when a store is unavailable.
Budget MTG Decks As I said, I moved to a new area about two years ago. All my friends are still back where I used to live, and it's at least 4 hours of travel between us. The area I'm in now doesn't really have any central hangout for people interested in things like card games or things like that, so I don't know how to find others who are interested.
That's pretty rough, it's always hard to get a new community going from scratch. Getting existing players together is easier than getting new people to adopt the game, But then you still have to know where they are. It's a pickle indeed. :(
I may be wrong but i don't think turntimber xenograft works. The wolf doesn't become an ally(due to xenograft) untill it is already in play. I don't think you'd get ally ETB with that
But it's only till the end of turn so it would be pointless unless you also have an additional card which grants all your creatures haste. Then again why have infinitely large creatures when you can already have an infinite amount of creatures?
Mina and denn EDH Deck infinite combo Idea: Illusionist bracers, seeker of skybreak, sakura-tribe scout, Amulet of vigor, Gruul Turf, and token producer for example; Rampaging Baloths, Seed the land, Zendikar's Roil etc. Or even an Omnath, Locus of Rage, that's even better. I know it's not quite budget but still, infinite combo. In fact this would work for all infinite combos; wirewood savage with the baloths- infinite draw + tokens, Tunneling Geopede for damage, Altar of the brood for mill, Grazing Gladehart for life. Idea's!!!!!
I'm thinking of using the nim Geist-honered monk alter combo just with the pre-made spirit deck that came out with innistrad its just i don't really know what i should and shouldn't replace, so any pointers?
so two of the combos I have questions about. Number 3 the Nim Beetleback altar combo, for it is there any creatures that are white green or colorless below 3 to do that combo with. And number 4 the tidewater bracers combo is there a white green or colorless creature that does the same as tidewater minion. I am planning on making a Rhys the redeemed tiny leaders deck and "I can use the first combo but number 3 and 4 look interesting as well.
Well cool combos here but you repeat the bracers and untapcombo an little often. I mean i get it Bracers + Untapcreature = any amount of taps of any creature. might dmg, mana, life, tokens, carddraw or whatever tapeffect you have. you dont need to bring this up in every video. even if it is a great combo.
Without budget thoughts I thought of two more cards to make everyone rage quit :) door of destinys for whatever type you use or cathers crusade just for the +1/+1 counters
Cathars' Crusade would be sick for infinitely large tokens. However Door of Destinies would not do much as you are not casting spells when you are copying the abilities to produce tokens.
We honestly don't know +Madjas. But we believe that no infinite combo is planned from the perspective of the Magic design team. However we can't really fault them too much as it's impossible to know all card interactions among all sets ever made.

That first one would make an awesome pauper deck sign me up!
Life and Limb plus Sporemound. You need an additional sacrifice trigger to kill Sporemound but it is a fun turn 5 or 6 combo.

alter of the brood is how I give my presence of gond deck "haste" as it allows me to mill my opponent's entire deck in one turn.

Not all the cards are under $1 but its still a pretty crazy infinite token/life gain combo.
Infinite tokens;
Aetherflux reservoir (damage to player)
Darien, king of kjeldor (makes tokens from taking damage)
Soul warden (gain 1 life per creature ETB)
+ infinite lifegain
Suture priest (life on creature ETB)
Soul's attendant (life on creature ETB)
Gain infinite life then use the reservoir to finish the game, or swing infinitely wide at everyone.
Hi Zach, we don't see how the mentioned cards work together to form an infinite combo. Care to elaborate?
Budget MTG Decks once you have 51 life you target yourself with aetherflux reservoir, which triggers Darien making an amount of tokens equal to the damage you took, which triggers soul warden giving you 1 life for each creature that enters the battlefield under your control. Having multiple creatures with that effect like souls attendant or suture priest will gain you more than the 50 damage you originally took from aetherflux reservoir.
Alright, but the combo does not get you 51 life with the combo itself. You still have to wait for your life to slowly go up during the game right?
Budget MTG Decks true, although it's probably much easier to do in commander as Darien could be you're commander and you start with 40 over 20.
Which i thinks fair because it's not just an infinite combo, it's potential infinite tokens, life, removal, and damage if you have all the pieces. One of which being 51 life.

Add Impact Tremors to any of those combos and you get an instant win.
Especially to the Midnight Guard + Presence of Gond combo. It does wonders in pauper!!!

#2 - Turntimber + Artificial evolution. It's a U cost spell that does the same thing for 1 target permanent.

Hey, great list of token combos, I'll definitely be using some of those in my own decks. However, combo #5 (Sinking Morselhoarder Defenses) is actually not a legal combo. You cannot untap a permanent that is not already tapped..
"701.17b To untap a permanent, rotate it back to the upright position from a sideways position. Only tapped permanents can be untapped."
Seeing as Morselhoarder is untapped at the beginning of the combo, Sinking Feeling's ability cannot be activated. There are ways around it, however. By enchanting Morselhoarder with something like Burning Anger, Fire Whip, or something that allows you to tap Morselhoarder before activating its ability, along with Sinking Feeling's ability.
We understand the confusions, however it does work. You see untapping an untapped permanent is impossible and can't be done hence if this would be part of the cost the combo would not work. However if it is part of an effect i.e. after the : then you do everything possible and ignore the impossible. So you can pay the cost for the combo and put a -1/-1 on Morselhorder and then you ignore the effect because you can't untap the already untapped Morselhorder. tldr: Impossible costs can't be ignored, impossible effects can be.

Combo 1 also works with boros charming a hornet nest and having a "tap to fight" spell, add hammer of purpheros and you kill them turn 3 with enough ramp.

On number 3, I usually just call it the NimNod combo since I use it in multiple different tribal/token decks

For the Xenograft and Turntimber Ranger combo, if you had a Feed The Pack in play you could sac the Ranger at the beginning of your end step and pretty much double the number of token creatures you made. How you'd make use of them in that case I'm not sure, but I'm sure someone could think of something.
I don't know if it's budget because I haven't checked but you could also use Intruder Alarm with Presence of Gond and ANY creature.

Number 4 would not work as you say :/ when you tap a creature, you are only tapping the creature, not permanents attached to it. Just fyi (: love the videos!!
As we see it works fine, you don't need to tap the illusionists bracers for the combo to work (in the video the artifact is not tapped, just attached to the creature).
love the midnight guard one. it's the easiest. the cheapeast mana wise. and only takes 2 cards and then next you know you declare to bring out 100 tokens or more. lol
you can also use other differently named cards that do the same thing in EDH
for #4 you can also use krenko mob boss
I believe with xenograft, the creatures don't enter as the ally, but it applies after they enter
Xenografts static ability applies before the game checks for triggered abilities. So the combo works.
Is there a way to get infinite goblins in modern via Krenko, Mob Boss, Beetleback Chief, or something along those lines. If possible low mana cost and red. Any suggestions helps. It does not absolutely have to be red or low mana cost just trying to make it fit in better.
Number 4 also goes with Krenko,Mob Boss.

Tap, Put X 1/1 red goblin creature tokens onto the battlefield, where X is the number of Goblins you control.

It's a combination of factors, the camera has a basic microphone, the room is relatively empty and I was standing too far away from the camera in these top 5 episodes. We will try to improve the quality after the next top 5 (the next one has already been recorded).
Usually it has been fine, this episode was just particularly jarring for me, either way I love these video's, and as a token love I am sure to put one of these in my deck

IF you combine the second one with a few other allies, you can have infinate damage, mill, life gain or life loss
if you built a deck the right way you could have infinite tokens, tap/untap strat, mana of any color and colorless, draw, mill, life, turns, slavelock, infinitely strong creature, endless deck, multiple instant win strats, a way to prevent loss via decking out(technically 2 one prevents it one makes you win if it happens)
the ability to force a draw(infinite loop that doesnt stop one you dont have a choice over) or stall games forever
early turn win strats and ways to hold them off.
itd be bad. no one would want to play it once they figured it out in the long run, however you would have the ability to win quick without showing off the whole deck. plus game 1 you could win with one strat game 2 another then draw game 3 or lose or whatever. since alot of the infinite combos can use some of the same cards and you can do longer work arounds that also work with other cards to do the same thing in a shorter way you can sorta play the deck in an interesting way. even if they cut off cards to try and disrupt a combo you have another way to get there.
youd probably still want alot of counters and a few safe measures against board wipes and stuff like that.
Question! would Flourishing Def. combed with eather Illness in the Ranks or Virulent Plague cause a ifintity loop of both 1/1 elf warrior tokens and -1/-1 counters?
with Magic Origins now..... Nim Assembly Alter for thopter tokens. im sure it would be a U/R deck. Go for Impact Tremors and Outpost Siege
Don't know if there budget but Infinite thopters and infinite damage. all in one deck.
To add to the red/blue thopter deck.
Alter+Tidewater+Bracers+Tomb
Sac a thopter to the later for 2 mana, use that mana to tap Tomb for life equal to the number of colorless creatures you control. Use tidewater/bracers to untap Tomb. And keep it cycling till out run out of thopters. But you can alternate between this combo and the other one. I don't think you will run of them any time soon.

Dont forget about Purpheros either, he deals 2 evry time a creature enters. hes impact tremors for 2 more colorless, (edit) 2 co,lorless more, sorry about that . also PURPHEROS deals the damage, meaning infect is possible if they have crazy life gain.

couldnt you technicaly use nim beetle back altar to also get infinite mana since you would have infinite tokens to sacrafice

If a store opens locally (as I moved two years ago to an area without any card store), I might get back into the game. If I do, I'll definitely try some of these combos out.
Too bad you don't have a local store +morphman86, have you tried just getting a group of friends at your house or a coffee shop to play? That's what we sometimes do and it really helps for when a store is unavailable.
Budget MTG Decks As I said, I moved to a new area about two years ago. All my friends are still back where I used to live, and it's at least 4 hours of travel between us.
The area I'm in now doesn't really have any central hangout for people interested in things like card games or things like that, so I don't know how to find others who are interested.
That's pretty rough, it's always hard to get a new community going from scratch. Getting existing players together is easier than getting new people to adopt the game, But then you still have to know where they are. It's a pickle indeed. :(

I may be wrong but i don't think turntimber xenograft works. The wolf doesn't become an ally(due to xenograft) untill it is already in play. I don't think you'd get ally ETB with that

Aphetto Alchemist is not $1 or less and the combo does not work with Kiora's Follower.
with the second strat, if you also have tajuru beastmaster on the battlefield you will gain unlimited +1+1 on every creature
or with kalastria healer, then you will gain infinite life and your opponent loses infinite life
But it's only till the end of turn so it would be pointless unless you also have an additional card which grants all your creatures haste. Then again why have infinitely large creatures when you can already have an infinite amount of creatures?

Mina and denn EDH Deck infinite combo Idea: Illusionist bracers, seeker of skybreak, sakura-tribe scout, Amulet of vigor, Gruul Turf, and token producer for example; Rampaging Baloths, Seed the land, Zendikar's Roil etc. Or even an Omnath, Locus of Rage, that's even better. I know it's not quite budget but still, infinite combo. In fact this would work for all infinite combos; wirewood savage with the baloths- infinite draw + tokens, Tunneling Geopede for damage, Altar of the brood for mill, Grazing Gladehart for life. Idea's!!!!!

I'm thinking of using the nim Geist-honered monk alter combo just with the pre-made spirit deck that came out with innistrad its just i don't really know what i should and shouldn't replace, so any pointers?

so two of the combos I have questions about. Number 3 the Nim Beetleback altar combo, for it is there any creatures that are white green or colorless below 3 to do that combo with. And number 4 the tidewater bracers combo is there a white green or colorless creature that does the same as tidewater minion. I am planning on making a Rhys the redeemed tiny leaders deck and "I can use the first combo but number 3 and 4 look interesting as well.

Well cool combos here but you repeat the bracers and untapcombo an little often. I mean i get it Bracers + Untapcreature = any amount of taps of any creature. might dmg, mana, life, tokens, carddraw or whatever tapeffect you have. you dont need to bring this up in every video. even if it is a great combo.
There are more different combos spread out over the series. Check out some of our newer ones.
Without budget thoughts I thought of two more cards to make everyone rage quit :) door of destinys for whatever type you use or cathers crusade just for the +1/+1 counters
Cathars' Crusade would be sick for infinitely large tokens. However Door of Destinies would not do much as you are not casting spells when you are copying the abilities to produce tokens.
Do you think that these strategies where intended to work the way the do? Or just an oversight?
We honestly don't know +Madjas. But we believe that no infinite combo is planned from the perspective of the Magic design team. However we can't really fault them too much as it's impossible to know all card interactions among all sets ever made.

With the 5th combo could you use devoted druid in place of morselhoarder?
weaverst Morselhoarder is there to remove -1/-1 counters. Devoted Druid only adds -1/-1 counters so it would not work.
