  • In this video I discuss my Jet JJP-12 Jointer / Planer. I show a simple way to make the European-Style Jointer Guard easier to work with.
Thanks for watching! More Jet JJP-12 videos to come, as I am going to make an infeed/outfeed extension support system.
You will find more photos relating to this video on our Facebook pages. Facebook.com/AskWoodMan and Facebook.com/VerySuperCoolTools.

Once again an excellent solution Alan. Brilliant in its simplicity but you have to think of it first.

K.I.S.S - simple, quick and easy. Plan to make one of these and will embed a magnet in the top so that it can stick to the front of my machine and always be handy. Will also modify the factory guide so that I can stick it to the front of the machine when the short version is installed. Great idea!

Thanks for the video it just the inspiration I needed to order the Jet fence for my early 1980"s Minimax fsb 35 with a home made pork chop guard that I have never really liked. It looks like I will have to drill and tap a few holes in the table side to mount it and maybe add a spacer block. The fence is just over $200 with shipping and added tax because it ships from within my state. I believe it is not a bad price for the safety it provides.

Thanks for this. I acquired a bunch of tools from a friend, one of which was a jointer and I haven't really considered a guard for the blade before. Sort of obvious now that I've watched this.

Very good idea. I had removed my guard entirely, for the reasons you noted. A couple of these will be easy to make and much safer. Thanks! I'm currently using a couple of Ridgid fliptop stands for infeed and outfeed. Not entirely satisfactory, as the outfeed one gets tipped over occasionally, so I'll be glad to see how you address that too.

Thank you for all the work that you put into your videos, your efforts are not in vain. I often find your videos very informative. I also find a lot of value in your insights and opinions! So I now ask a simple question, would you buy your JET JJP-12 again? Did you consider the JJP-12HH, prior to purchase? What other jointer/planer did you consider? I am very close to making a jointer/planer purchase and your speedy reply would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again! Keep up the good work.

Hello Alan, I agree with you. But I come from the Netherlands and its not aloud to work like with your shirt hanging. thats why they make them bigger so you are of the knives.
