Welcome to the podcast channel! ✊🤙 drop them hot topics for future eppys… knee deep in canadien bush right now
Maybe talk about what to look at if you’re going to buy a used bow. Red flag things to look for.
How about arrow setups for elk for 60 lb bows you know old men
Which province ? For future it’s Canadian
I shoot a Mathews V3X 29. In 28.5 draw but it is more like 29. At 60# and I shoot Easton axis 5mm 340 spine at 420 grains. I can reach out to 115. And it is a very fast set up. This is my 1st deer season wt the bow. But I have shot a Hogg and got a double lung it went 25 yards. Fixed blade broadheads NAP HELLRAZOR
I'd be interested in a similar discussion to this but for the rest of the folks out there that aren't shooting 65lb and up bows. Seems like the RIP XV arrows could be used to build a high velocity flat shooting arrow for a 50-60lb draw in the 360-375 grain range that would be a performer out west. Another cool topic would be wind deflection and 5mm vs 4mm arrow options and different vane designs, quietness of vane designs etc....
I'm heading to the driving range listening to an archery pod cast. It's my kind of day!
Good day!
Speaking of difficult shots - the Prime course in Tennessee this year had the snowshoe hare target set @ 67 yards slight downhill. The tree behind the target looked more like a cactus than a tree trunk.
Excited for the dedicated Podcast channel. As always good content. Keep it up
Would love some episodes more focused on bow hunting. Ideally on how to get into hunting if you dont come from a hunting family/community. Think more people would get into archery/bow hunting if there was better info out there on how to get started. Ive known many people to totally give up on hunting due to the initial learning hurdle when they dont have a mentor. An episode on how to plan first time self guide western hunt trip would be great as well. Thanks for the great content gentlemen!
Man what a smooth and nice transition to the main subject!🎯👌. Really enjoyed that one even if i am not a hunter. Love the info by Josh for the TAC events. Good job boys! Keep shooting them out! 👍
Keep it up guys great information in a relax setting. Like talking among friends to learn different things.
I'd love a talk about setup regarding cam lean at brace, limb deflections, etc. Basically what is the best way to look at a bow, see the cam lean at brace, then what you would do to the cams position on the axles prior to even shooting the bow. Discussing what the limb deflection does to influence this cam lean at brace would be appreciated as part of that conversation.
SO HAPPY TO HAVE FOUND ANOTHER VIDEO PODCAST I CAN GET INTO.
Thank you Josh for all your informational video's they are great. The podcast is great Im truck driver so i listen to your podcasts at night. Josh you have sparked my interest in getting back into Archery Thank you and God's Blessings on all your adventures
Love this new podcast!
THANK YOU for cutting this one loose early! Such a great podcast!
Thank you 🤙🤙
You guys are a great resource and just seem like the nicest dudes! Hoping I can build a hunting crew where I live like you guys who really like to have fun and grow as archers together! Keep the videos coming!
Awesome content. Really enjoy all the content you guys put out there for the archery community. Watching all of Josh's videos has helped me progrees with my archery skills. Wouldnt mind spending a day or two with you and Josh and shoot some archery for fun and let josh critique my bow build and setup. Keep the videos and talks coming.
I am genuinely excited for this. Josh, you have been one of the best resources for me in the way that I learn and Im grateful for the amount of time that you are willing to give to teach people on your channel. Best of luck fellas!
Glad y’all kept some content on UA-cam. I think having it on a podcast platform and UA-cam is a huge bonus.
Look forward to this every week.
The nuggets of wisdom that casually get dropped on this podcast are gold. Appreciate the time you are spending to do this.
Thank you dude ✊
👀 forward to some awesome information and yarns appreciate y’all ❤😂🤘🤙👊
I look forward to this every week now. I have no friends interested in archery like I am.... I watch these podcasts and feel like im right there with you guys. And that's badass.
These podcasts are relaxing.
Thank you guys for taking the time time to do these.
Thank you dude
This sounds like a really good one can't wait to listen while I work
Love this style of content. Still in the learning phase and doing it mostly on my own, so this was helpful.
Glad to hear it
I shoot kudu plus 100 grain and I absolutely love them. Razor sharp and are super tough, cut through the big pigs we have down here in Florida with zero issue.
I love these videos. I wish there was more archery stuff here in western Massachusetts. I live two minutes from a ski resort wish someone would do a tac event. Bow shops suck around here so I started doing everything myself thank to UA-cam and mfjj's videos
The difference between a good surfer and a bad surfer is time in the ocean... Same for archery (I suppose, having never shot an arrow "yet" in my life) number of arrows down range... Keep doing the 'pod, I like the formst and the sheer amount of information and wisdom.
Love the podcast keep it goin guys
I would definitely agree with Josh regarding TAC. I love going to TAC and are some of my favorite shoots to attend because I can just go and shoot my bow and not worry about score! Just relax have a good time with some friends and get to meet some fantastic people.
I was sending a 550gn 20% foc fixed broad head from a carbon Spyder zt30 at 72#s. Worked great but not practical at 40 yards or more imo. So this year I'm sending a 430gn 15% foc with carnifours... I'm excited to see the difference in white tail and black bear. Great chat bois!!!
Thank you.
Great content. Love the channel keep it up ❤
As a ADHD person most of my hobbies start at just do it. Now I'm a extra ham, tub radio repair, archery, sewing and knitting lol. Yes I knitted my own face cover using camo yarn. It fits perfect and it's warm.
Thanks for doing the podcast. One of the best hours of my week!
Thank you 🙏
Hey guys loved the "trial" run and now the first one on your own channel. Im glad to say I am one of the first ones to sign up. I listen to you guys as I work. Nice thing is, I like that I can pause it and get back to it during the day. Keep up the good work! For a suggestion. I have a 27 1/2 in draw on my Bowtech Solution. I run about 65 lbs on it. Is that the best bow for someone with my DL or should I go with a bow with a cam system that would give me better benefits at the shorter DL?
My guys... On the light arrow set-up... There are a few things crucially important in Archery hunting. #1 sharp broadheads, #2 Animal within ethical distance of individual #3 Know distance to said animal.. Based on #3 - Why are light arrow set-ups / flat shooting arrows are SO important ?
I'm shipping Custom Shop Hats to Spokane for you both..
So keep your eye out for them,
You'll have to fight over which one you guys want.
My gift to you guys 😁
A shout out would be unreal..
I'm Subscribed!!
I have learnt ALOT from watching Josh the last couple years and have made major progress in bow technician skills and shooting.
Just listening and picking up any info helps.
Major fan, I appreciate you both. Thank you.
Ash / Red Lake Archery
Great channel.
Kudu are amazing heads.. great podcast guys!
I just bought 6 kudu broadheads. Will be shooting a cow elk this month with one.
My bow was tuned well but I didn’t have to make any adjustments to get them to fly with my field points.
Love the episodes so far, you guys work well together.
I've done four TAC events for fun but how serious are 3D events in comparison? Trying to branch out from just a backyard archer
My first bow was a Martin Lynx loved it.
Hey Josh and Tim I have used ACC shafts and 6 grain pre pound of draw weight
God's Blessings
Tac in Tennessee was crazy fun. Meet great people and had a blast. Our group keep scores the first 6 targets and after that it was out the window lol. It was one of the best experiences iv had….
Awesome G
Great pod guys I felt like you where talking about me about blaming equipment for bad recovery lol check out the grim reaper extreme
Hey Tim! Just use a Sevr 2.0 titanium mechanical broadhead on your bear.
Had a member of camp use one. Will report back
Loving the content guys.
Have a question (possibly a topic for future chats)
How important is modern equipment if you want to be competitive in a 3D/target environment?
I’m currently shooting a Mathews Drenalin LD from 08 (modern Strings and Cables, though)
Everything on it was “state of the art” when I bought it new.
My form is good and the bow is tuned (get consistent groups out past 60)
Would there be much upside to switching to a modern rig with modern accessories or is it a case of diminishing returns at this point?
Keep up the great work
27.5” at 415gr…Love this setup!
U guys are livin the life.
You guys are awesome , i learn so much watching your chanel / Greets from Germany Tim
Greetings!!
The partially obstructed targets is fun and challenging. Maybe just obstructed with other foam targets that look like trees or rocks so that if you hit them you don't cry over the loss of your arrows.
possibly a topic which leads wisdom to BOTH archery and golf.....
Ranging your target, the line, your bodies lie angle....ect ect
These firesides are awesome. I love the idea of a scramble 3D challange. Theres casual golf why not casual archery? Sunday morning round of 18?
We do a two man best arrow for one of our shoots at my local range!! Super fun!!!
Oh shit, Archery scramble. 3-4 person team. Each target the person with the highest score you keep. HELL YEAH.
Could be cool!
@@JoshandTim SVA Annual Archery Scramble sponsored by Elkshape and Podium Archer.
Not sure if they have them out west, but in the north east we have a few "Captain and Mate" shoots. Two man teams, sometimes you can pick your team and sometimes its a "bind draw" where the host will randomly pair teams. 30 total targets. Odd numbered targets are usually IBO scoring, and even numbered targets are ASA with the 14 in play. On each target the team gets to keep their highest scoring arrow, so if your teammate shoots first and hits a 12 then you're free to shoot at the 14 with no risk. It's a ton of fun and adds an element of strategy. Usually half the entry fee goes to the club and half goes to the pot for the winners.
I only get my arrows from MFJJ. Last two years of TAC and hunting arrow setups. Great price and very fast shipping. 🤙🏼
You want a big hole use a Shwacker. They are the most accurate mechanical that I've ever used.
I noticed something interesting the other day when shooting the bow. Arrows seemed to penetrate farther into target at 50 yds compared to closer distances. Shooting into a Block 6x6. Maybe be when the arrow stabilizes and flying straighter or it has lost enough velocity that it doesn't weld the foam of target as badly and has less grip on arrow. Thoughts?
I would love to hear y'all opinions arrow size for hogs. Also the draw length was a great discussion i noticed all my sizes changed when i switched to a thumb release.
Yay!!!
When I started out in archery (about 15 months ago) I was at a 28”. Now I’m at 29.5” lol
The whitetail special is an awesome broadhead.
Yus!!!
Yeah got me to change my draw length so I can hit something now. Good content.
They got me to do the same. Now I'm maxed out at 30" on my bow and I know I need more 😅
Build some rip tko with iron will components. Now looking for arrows to try out ethics components and compare. The tkos will be about 465, the ethics arrow I’m think around 550-575 just to try a heavy arrow.
Would like to hear about differences/benefits/downsides between compound bows and crossbows.
Would like to hear more about the topic of choice rather than 50/50 current events and topic. Still love it
So… I’m trying to put together a for fun, no money archery club. My buddy and I are going to try and put a tournament together using some of what you guys are talking about.
Question yall can chew on and play with.
XYZ Arrow Company comes to Podium Archery or Tim Connor and offers to build a signature arrow. What things do you want to be put into that arrow(insert, overall weight, fletchings, nock, etc) to perform to your preferences but also the 'community' can enjoy?
Y’all need to start something at Crystal Mountain or Snoqualmie pass!!!
LOL. Dudley is now selling the Easton Sonic arrows which are pretty light GPI.
No doubt
MFJJ how about an episode for aging bow hunters/ target archers. I have found eye sight regression is the big problem.
I would love to get y’all’s opinion on what arrow set up I should run out of a Mathews Atlas at 32.5 draw length and 75lbs
Just got done cleaning fish now this ??...life...is...good
What iron will broadhead would you use for whitetail?
Simmons Great White on a heavy arrow for bear over bait.
If you only had one choice for all animals, and that’s the only broadhead you could shoot. Which one would you choose?
200gr Valkyrie blood eagle.
Just bought the Bowtech ss34 50lbs 31” draw woukd like to stick with .300 spine add more front weight what’s your thoughts
Love to hear some info for short draw archers under 26 inches who can shoot heavy poundage 60-80lbs I shoot 74lbs at 24"
So, what speed do you think I should strive for at a 28" draw and 70#? I shoot the V3X33.
Tim, I can't believe you didn't know Ned Flanders. "Hidely-Ho, neighbor! Okelly Dokelly!"
I swear Snoop Dogg got the idea to add 'izzle' at the end of his words after watching an episode of The Simpsons.
Hey we’re can I watch there stuff I’m using a rip xv for deer this year and it’s 410 grains nobody has reviews on it
Hey guys. I mainly hunt whitetail in Northwest Indiana out of a tree stand. I'm currently shooting a Bear Legit at 70ish pounds and 29 1/2 inch draw length. I'm running stock Gold Tip Hunter XT 340's cut to 29 inches, with Nockturnal nocks and 125gr Stinger Buzzcut 4 blades. So about 440gr total weight. The 340's are too weak of a spine for me this year, because I got in a lot better shape and have increased my draw weight. I'm thinking of getting a Ranch Fairy Sirius Supernova 2.0 250/300 spine test kit and try getting my arrows closer to 500gr with a little higher FOC. I know I have to get a stiffer arrow, but do I need to go up in total weight? Can I just cut my arrows down and raise the tip weight to achieve the same results?
You guys planning on hitting up NW Mountain Challenge this year?
i Need Help with a decision i need to make. i have a bowtech sr6. i installed a vapor trail gen 7x rest on it. but the flex guard dampener is conflicting with the capture ring of the rest. i dont want to modify the capture ring nor do i want to remove it altogether. my question is, and hopefully people can confirm this. but can i just run my bow without the flexguard dampener? or will it be unsafe? i dont care if i feel more vibration in the hand. i can live with that if that means i can get this rest to fit and tune perfectly on my bow. thanks MFJJ and anyone else who chimes in on my request for help
TAC should add more events... they'd sell those out too
How does Josh get a hunting arrow that light with that draw length?
How could you hate being called Ned Flanders? He's the nicest guy in history. Makes a mean home brew and will never say no if you need to borrow a lawn mower.
I wanna see or hear what bow MFJJ is running for his tree stand and ground blind setup.
@podiumarcher3447 should try out a grim reaper mini mag on the bears
Iron will wide??
Let’s do a detailed youth/woman arrow setup. Roughly 23” 40 pounds.
Talk about starting youth to shoot from nasp to tac how to getter done son
Second
That dog a Rhodesian Ridgeback?
Is it me or does Joshs right leg look huge compared to the other ?
Wide lens G
Captain and mate shoot
You take best arrow for scoring and if you partner hits a 12 you can shoot for 14 . We have shoots like that .
Definitely not watching this while working
Noted! 🤫
How about a 3D tournament where there is a realistic “Kill Shot” and if you’re not in the kill shot area it’s a zero (0) and if it is in the kill shot area it’s a 1 (one)???????? Just sayin!!!
I fricken love the pod you guys are killing it. Side note since you talked alot about arrows. I have yet to build my tac arrow. I shoot a no cam at 28.5 inches of draw and 70lbs. If you guys can recommend me a good arrow setup that podium archer sells I would buy it from there 💯
