Too each their own. My father raised me on Dixie-Land jazz and Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Satchmo etc but he didn't much care for jazz from about 1945 onward. He loved the dancing part of that jazz. Being a child of the 60's I first loved the rock 'n' roll and still do. In the late 60's I discovered the blues. Then throughout the 70's I discovered the jazz of the late 40's clear through to today. In the mid 70's also found large scale classical Orchestra music. All the while still enjoying most forms of rock. Not much into heavy metal or today's country whatever it is but like I say to each their own. Happy listening to each and everyone no matter what your preference.
In my 4 decades of making music, I've encountered more people who seem to struggle with playing at this kind of tempo than anything else. Unfortunately, a lot of audiences struggle with hearing music played that slowly.
People seem to have a problem with the off-key, in general. Many find it depressing, I personally find it very chill, laid-back. Monk had a way with make the minor key sound upbeat! This is very chill music! Very long time Bruford fan! Enjoy this new direction!
