How to build a Mini Metal Brake

The mini metal brake/bending machine is an easy-to-build open project that requires no welding. An angle grinder, drill and taps are all you need to build it! The miniature size makes it easy to store in the workshop and is just perfect for my projects. If you need a bigger brake, use my plans and scale them up :)

Two simple upgrade ideas:
1. Flat steel pieces to reinforce and help with bending thicker materials
2. Springs under the clamping profile on the M8 screws so that it automatically rises and makes it easier to load and unload material. Wanted to add the springs while building that but had no proper screws.

Probably use square steel tube.. 2 times stronger then the angled profile :)

I had the same problem with my drill a couple of days ago. I needed to drill one hole so I could mount a ethernet switch (not router) behind a desk. My battery for the drill was dead. I didn't want to wait so I took my old manual drill (like the one you used) and drilled the one hole I needed into the wood desk.
Nice project you made. I might make one like that myself. I normally just use a vice to bend metal. I had used a bender like that (bigger) at work. When bending thicker strips, like you did, it helps to bend near the hinge rather than the center.
Hand brake is a nice starter. A motorized press brake with a v-groove channel lets you make multiple tight bends to make more complicated geometry like toolboxes. always love your videos.
Doesn't need to be motorized as you'd get more downforce from a bottle jack and spring return system for a small brake press

I am halfway through building your indymill...what speed and feeds do you use on that 3mm aluminum
Sheetmetal parts are a heck of fuck, with your CNC you can drill holes along the bending lines and basically bent the parts by hand you wouldn´t even need the brake. Or you can stribe along the bent line.
Great project and very well illustrated, however you can have the same result with two "L" profiles in the vise.

I am still developing the project. A brief video about this project and my thesis should be ready soon but I am waiting for a good weather to take some more pictures and maybe capture a decent deep sky object image.

Careful marking with calipers. If they arent marking calipers you could damage them.
it is so thin that it uses only one or two mm aluminium. You must be 8mm steel corner steel
Kątownik, który użyłeś to tak zwany kątownik zimno walcowany, który jest bardzo słaby. Zdecydowanie lepszy byłby kątownik gorąco walcowany. Jeżeli w sklepie takiego nie ma to polecam wycieczkę na złomowisko, nie dość, że kupisz tanio to jeszcze ile atrakcji i skarbów.
Weź coś z cnc wrzuć. Każdy czeka. Na frezowanie
