One thing that gives me peace of mind: every season, I choose an "emergency" work outfit and I set it aside. I do NOT wear it unless I've failed waking up to the alarm, I'm called in to a work function unexpectedly, or some sort of home "disaster" has happened and I have 10 minutes to get ready. Knowing that I have a combination sorted out that is clean and pressed allows me to not panic when everything else is falling apart around me. Many times, the entire season goes by without me having to pull my "emergency outfit", in which case I take it out and wear it before I create my next season's capsule. If something happens and I DO need to wear it, I add those pieces to my rotation, and select a different combination to set aside for next time.
Gosh what a great idea.
@@ritastutler1470 Thank you, Rita! Try it, hopefully you'll find it helpful. Think of a situation or event that is likely to cause you stress if you didn't have much time to get ready for it (a presentation at work, a date, a cocktail party that starts in 2 hours). Pull an outfit you'd feel good wearing for it. Make sure it fits, it's clean and ironed, zippers and buttons are in good condition. Put it aside. You might never need your "emergency" outfit, but just knowing you have one ready, is such an empowering thought!
That’s a fabulous idea & I wish I had done that before I retired! My go-to was to always get the next day’s outfit ready the evening before, & check that everything was ready to wear. Timesavers for working women are always welcome.
@karenschmoutz6785 Yes, I do that too! And sometimes, when I have the time on Sundays, I select outfits for what I expect to be the "difficult" days that week (rain/snow, big presentation, event right after work, longer than usual commute, etc.). If I can plan ahead of time and be ready for days that need special consideration, I feel soooooo much better about how well I can manage all that needs to be done in a week!
Brilliant! I’m going to start doing this
I love your clothes. Here is an idea for a future video: discuss the shape and size of collars and lapels, and single vs. double-breasted jackets, and how they contribute to the overall look of an outfit, especially if you are short.
Great idea I'd love to see a video about that!
Yes! Love this idea, thanks 🙏🏻
And how collars and necklines flatter or don't flatter your face shape.
Lové this idea! As a petite person, I struggle with collars looking costumey on me
I love this idea! I feel I haven't found my ideal collar yet - also, how color affects how each collar looks on you.
I have a checklist of three or four things that I always need to chuck into my bag, including my (1) phone, (2) keys, (3) wallet and (4) a little pouch of miscellaneous essentials that fits into most if not all of my purses. Having a self-contained pouch helps manage clutter and makes it very easy to transfer everything to larger or smaller bags depending on the activities of the day.
What is helping me to dress better and more effortlessly is to stick to my best colors. I’m a bright winter so I got rid of autumnal color clothes and shoes that didn’t complement me anyway. Now I find that almost everything in my closet works together colors wise so it’s much less complicated to make outfits.
Yay, Wanda! I'm a deep winter, and got rid of all the yellow, orange, tomato red, acid greens, baby pinks, and pastel blues I had. I kept a handful of cognac boots and handbags that I adore because those pieces are away from my face. I also kept my camel coat because it's gorgeous, but I make sure to top it with a burgundy, platinum grey, bright navy, or emerald green scarf. When the time comes to replace this coat---years form now, I hope--I'll be looking for a cooler beige one. Just like you found with your closet, by removing those pieces that were not as flattering, now 90% of my pieces harmonize with each other, and I love the looks I can put together. PLUS--I have learned what to splurge in! I bought a pair of Bordeaux ankle boots and a handbag in a similar hue, and I feel like a million bucks when I wear them!
I have always wanted to find my colors. How do I learn my colors?
For those of us with warm skin tones, I heavily rely on a warm camel and cream (or off-white) as a non-black color combination that works in a pinch. The key is finding the right shade of camel or tan. Also, organizing my closet based on category, and then by color within those categories has really helped to be able to pull out items quickly when I need them.
Thank you again for a lovely and helpful video, Audrey!
I have one handbag which goes with everything - everything I need on a daily basis stays in there, so I never have to worry if I have everything before leaving. In a similar vein, I have a tote for every activity I'm involved in - evening class, voluntary work etc. They hang on a row of hooks behind the door, so I just need to grab the right tote for the right activity. This has saved me so much time getting ready for things - and most people have loads of totes because they're so often given as gifts or as freebies!
Dear Audrey, I’ve been watching you for years….. ❤️you’ve taught me about uniforms, capsules, color… and so much more. I love your channel!
I found a solution for my jewelry where I match it to my seasonal capsules and keep my jewelry pieces in a display tray. This way it’s ready to go once I dress and everything is nicely laid out. Xoxo
Audrey---I love jewelry, and had too many baubles and too many styles...decision paralysis was real when it came to that for me. I eventually learned to extend the idea of a seasonal capsule to my jewelry, too. So now I keep a handful of them "visible" and the rest of my collection out of sight. I choose about 8 pairs of earrings, 5 necklaces, and 3-5 bracelets and rings, and that's it. I select from those, and only those, FOR WORK---because weekday mornings is when I'm most pressed for time and when I need to be efficient with my choices. I get to enjoy the rest of my collection during the weekend and evening outings, when I have time to leisurely try on different combinations. I've been doing the same with my shoes. 3 flats: dark, light, colorful. 3 heels: black, brown, or nude. One or two seasonal pairs (sandals or boots). Having those already chosen has made my morning so much more pleasurable!
Hi Audrey, these days there are so many options for stylish footwear with comfort! Thank you for the outfit ideas! The floral dress looks beautiful on you! 👜❤️🇨🇦
Love the floral dress on you 🙂
I love your ideas. Today I wore a midi faux suede skirt in a warm tan. I paired it with a cream long sleeve tee. then I put a cream cardigan over the top. I wore a handmade suede belt to tie it together . I did get a compliment for having a soft fall vibe.
Wow! I just found this channel after a year of ‘losing it’! I am very happy! Your voice is perfect for this sort of video. You don’t judge and advise with panache. Thank you so much for all your videos and efforts! ❤️
So happy when your video popped on my feed! 😍
This was very helpful for me especially since I get tired of trying to look put together by Friday (or Thursday!) so your tips are super welcome!
You look gorgeous in this floral dress! Thank you for the tips!
That gray off the shoulder dress is fantastic on you 😍
Great topic Audrey. I like the idea of having an outfit stand by for when I’m in a hurry.
You look incredible 😍 I completely agree about color…I’ve been trying to incorporate more and having pics of looks in my phone makes all the difference. I literally started this 2 weeks ago!
Thank you so much!!! ❤️❤️❤️
So inspiring! Loved it ❤
I would love to see your perspective and inspiration for super casual outfits, specially for those folks working from home like myself and are not always inspired to put together outfits. 😅
Great tips. And you look marvellous in that dress - great colours & beautiful print.
Audrey, this is such a beautiful look. 💚
Thank you!! ❤❤😊
Love your fashion tips and your beautiful voice.🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸
Lovely green on you.
Audrey.... just LOVE your videos and calm voice. Thank you so much for the style advice. Ailish from Ireland
Love these tips thanks. I didn’t know why but I always lean towards matte and now I know why. Shiney is fussy and can love over done or out of place. Always collecting style tips because I only just started to find my way to my own personal style. Appreciate these!
You are looking beautiful in the lovely floral green dress! ❤️
Great tips! Thank you, Audrey 🙂
Great advice as always! Thank you soooo much Audrey :)
My go-to shoes are platform mules in patent leather. The front platform reduces the heel to toe ratio while still giving height, I totally recommend
I love my gray and navy colors. I try to have a handbag I love and use every day. Inside I keep a pair of earrings and my fave lipstick.
In my car I keep a backup pair of earrings.
Fave clothing colors, fave handbag, earrings and lipstick. All dressed and pulled together. (I feel naked without earrings and lipstick.)
Love your dress floral 👗😍
One thing that proves I am not completely addicted to fashion: I find it strange when people say "wear a bag". I personally see it as *using* a bag. I generally only change bags with the season, or if I have a special occasion that calls for an evening bag.
Beautiful dress🌸💚
I love yor dress.
Your dress!!! 😍😍
Love this!!!!! ❤❤❤❤
I love your dress!💚 Thanks for tips!😍👏💐
🥰❤️❤️❤️
Good tips! Thank you.
You look nice in the floral print dress. It's lovely.
🥰🥰 thank you!
That dress looks great on you!
So helpful - thank you
Thank You! I love your work! I also love that this sums up my style! Rushed. 😂
Thanks for sharing.
Hi! Love the channel! I am trying to protect my face from the sun all year round. I would love to see a video about hats, different types, how to wear them and which to bring on holidays :)
Omygosh this dress on you! ❤
I love your videos ❤
I love your channel but I’m a warm spring - and believe me I’ve tried grey, navy of all kinds, light gray , dark gray - they all look very unflattering on me. If you are a true warm spring you likely need neutrals such as camel, pecan, ivory, certain greens and blues the do not have gray in them. I really do love your channel but for readers that have had their colours done, be curious about what neutrals work next to your face. ❤
Thanks so very much. I am going to have to google up what a "matte" material is... I do appreciate this advice. And I'd love to find a jewelry box made just for storing a necklace with a specific pair of earrings -- what a great idea!
Not shiny like silk or patent leather. Think of the fabric drinking in the light, not reflecting it.
Helpful!
Hi Audrey, can you make some video about socks and stockings or all things do you wear to closed shoes? here in Czech republic is cold weather half of the whole year and i'm not able to use shoes without these things. And it's so hard for me to keep my outfit elegant and "high end" when i have to use it to half-open shoes like loafers or my Martens mary janes :( I don't want to use just high boots for half a year, it's so boring. Thank you if you will have a time to do it! :)
What a pretty green dress ❤
Classic color types....
Excellent advice for guys too!
Audrey, lovely video as usual! May I please ask, I love the Curated blazer, but I notice the model isn’t putting her hand in the pockets. Are the pockets function?
Hi Audrey! I’m in Charleston too and I’ve had such a hard time finding a good tailor. Do you have any that you can recommend? Thank you!!
I never wear black because of my husky mix. The white fur stands out even more!😂😂
Love the floral dress you are wearing in the video. Where is it from?.
In the description box, she wrote from Reformation
Can you show us your elegant bags?
I love your styles.. However, a lot of your outfits include jackets/coats/blazers.. I live in Mumbai, India where the whether is hot and humid for most part of the year. Could you please do a video for styles to adorn for such weather conditions on everyday basis.
Hi Audrey, can you do a video on outfit pieces to pack for a trip to England/Europe please? For warm/olive skin tone and especially keeping the weather in mind. Luv your videos 😍
How to find the perfect blue and gray for your closets? -thank you
Hellolove , you look fabulous in a floural dress , gives me a hint to open upto..its firsy time seeing you
Love listening u r mirroring my style..n floral is just in my mind but never were on my body..thanks❤❤
I would like to know if statement necklaces are still in style? If so can a video be made on this and outfit ideas. I have a few and I refuse to let them go lol but want to know how “outdated” lol I may be.😂
Hello, In your recent short video about scarves it sounds like you designed some. Can they be purchased?
Yes! The brand is called Fennwyth xx fennwyth.com/
❤❤
Brown with gray? Did I hear that correctly?
Do you have a favorite jeans? I am looking for high waisted, straight. Not tight, not baggy, not ripped jeans. Really hard to find.
Consider your bag....
Choose matte textures....
I wear clothes that make me look and feel amazing. I don't follow fashion "rules" or trends. I only shop local and support women owned businesses.
❤️💒👙👰♂️💍💍💍
Navy and gray are great colors, but unfortunately they don’t compliment all skin tones. For example, navy color and I can make each other look dimmer and duller 😂 It’s really trying out different colors, including different designs and details of clothes.
You are just candy for the eyes
Can you convince your husband to make this sort of content but for men?
I am sorry throw away that green floral dress is terrible
I usually love your clothing picks, but please don't wear so much green. It really doesn't work with your "winter" coloring.
I love you in the grey dress with over-the-knee boots, I like it when you wear something that's more youthful, the flowery dress ages you by 50 years, it wears you and does not suit you at all, even a modern grandma would avoid it, please ditch it
Er, rude
