It is actually quite diffecult to explain and teach, one has really to feel it, train it and then you understand and even then there are quite good skaters that don't get it right all the time...
I feel like I found some " hidden speed" when I started, rather than just setting down my recovered foot, setting it down with forward energy, perhaps equal to the upcoming under push before the outward stroke of DP technique. That is , the double push starts with strong forward motion before the skate touches down. Hope that makes sense. I guess I was somehow interpret ting the term " set down" as static thing. But I see it now that the set down must happen at full speed with forward momentum.
