The original was a deceptively cute, very hard platformer with insanely good music, unique physics, and advanced graphics for a NES title. The wholly unexpected sequel retains the same high standard of music and familiar physics, while easing up on the difficulty by adding infinite lives and puzzle mechanics. Instead of collecting 6 main items, there are dozens of hidden chests which add replay value to the Gimmick experience. The comparison to Kirby was already half baked but it is now downright silly; Gimmick 2 has more in common with Braid. 8/10

I've never played Gimmick games, but it's so AWESOME to see Gimmick 2 on Nintendo Switch this would be my first Gimmick game LOVE the cute 2D animation, it's a 2D platformer and have a wonderful music Nintendo give me Gimmick thank you! 💚💫
I will also vouch for the game: Yes, I am really enjoying it as well. 2 levels in at the time of this comment, and the game is doing new and interesting things with Yumetaro's Bouncing Star move. Such things include throwing the Star in a trigger spot to make platforms move, and feeding a frog the Star that will spit it upwards for you to ride (You can also pick up the frog and carry it to another spot to do that trick).
Gimmick is a really cool NES game that had a lot of time put into it, i hope the sequel can live up to its previous game, even though it came out a bit before my time.

I was thinking "Wow... this is beautiful music!" It was reminding me of the 90's RPG/ARGP games from the Super Nintendo. Then you guys said that the music is by David Wise! Pretty cool. I had to look him up to know what he made. But his name was familiar. Great atmosphere! Looks like a game I would enjoy playing. :)
This game is my kryptonite even after all these years 😢 i still can't master it even though momentum based platformers are my main gaming genre 😮 (started with Sonic of course)
Heh, yeah, mastering Yumetaro's movement is a bit tricky! I encourage you to take the time to train in certain spots of the first two levels. The level designers built those spots to show the player how Yumetaro's and his Star's movement works.

Yeah Gimmick was released exclusively to Japan and Scandanavia for some reason back in 1992. It didn't officially get an American release until the special edition re-release last year.

@YTSirBlack I know nothing about the Peggle 2 situation. I do know that Bitwave poured their heart and soul into this game.
