Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 кві 2020
- Filmed on the morning of Sunday December 7th 2008 from the famous 'mound', perhaps one of the best spotting locations at Manchester Airport.
The first BMI A330 was a little hesitant to depart for some reason.

This is so nostalgic. I feel like a young boy just starting to watch aviation videos again 😄
5 legends we lost:
• BMI
• Thomas Cook
• First Choice
• US Airways
• Continental Airlines
I saw the concorde in the backround so include the Concorde as well
Concorde made its last flight in October 2003
From both US and UK 🇬🇧🇺🇸
Yep that’s for Air France and British airways
I was a Flight Dispatcher at MAN from 2005-2014 and 2008-2010 the airport had such an amazing buzz about it..such a mix of airlines and aircraft was fantastic!! So mundane these days with EZY FR and Jet2! Covid will kill the industry drastically too! But great memories from this footage!
In the 2000s there was like 8 or 9 holiday/charter airlines operating out of Manchester. Like you say nowadays there's barely any.
At 8:43 so glad to see that the Delta Boeing 767 N185DN is still flaying today.
Really miss those old airlines, especially Monarch, Flybe, Thomas Cook, First Choice and Thomsonfly (Even although that's now TUI)
And the airlines from the States that used to fly here like AA, United, Delta and USairways. I especially miss having the B747's B757's and B767's here. I think the remaining Jet2 757's are the last remaining british classics of MAN airport, probably going to cry when the last one goes probably at some point next year.
What a treat. The BMI and First Choice liveries certainly bring back the memories. Great to watch!
Cant believe all the big American airlines at Manchester. Halcyon days!
Great last shot of the Continental with RR engines. Just love that noise!
Awesome camera work Simon. Great video.
I felt younger by watching the vid. Thank you for bringing good old memories.
Can you believe that it’s been 20 years since Concorde made its last ever commercial flight
After a stressfull work day....I feel good right now, thanks for great sharing Simon.
Awesome video mate... wow I can’t believe this is from 2008 and the 2000’s were the best of times with the most nostalgic airlines and full of a330’s ... keep up the great work 😃👍🏻
Blast from the past! Great footage.
Stunning footage! I do miss seeing the BMI livery, especially on the A330 😍
It was truly breathtaking especially nose on 😍
Thanks for the upload, needed a lift today and this was just the ticket ✈️
I love the spool up of the 767!
Wow those were the days ❤
Such good memories!
Absolutely stunning, thank you. I wonder why the BMI held the brakes so long? As usual the 757 climbs like a beast, love the RB211s sound.
i believe in freezing conditions it's SOP for the crew to hold on the brakes and increase engine thrust to allow time for Compressor/fan blade de-icing.
Cold weather run up on the RR Trent 700 (after de-icing). Thanks for a great trip down memory lane 😊.
Thank you!
That’s amazing aeroplane
Great video Simon, lots of good memories right there!! ✈👌
Thanks Jay!
Your videos always have amazing quality!.
thanks Mike!
Your record capturing is great
Wow what a fantastic way to start a video with the truly iconic BMI A330! In my opinion this is one of the best liveries ever to adorn an A330, as it compliments it so perfectly. It will always be a treasured memory of mine seeing this beautiful bird in this livery at MAN both as a spotter and while working at the airport. Many thanks for capturing its beauty!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love it! 😍👍 Great! This is so nostalgic. I feel like a young boy just starting to watch aviation videos again. 😄
Fantastic treat for the bmi plane at the start of the clip
Awesome job as always, Simon!
Thanks Jay!
Simon, your videos plus live ATC are simply the best! Thanks for posting them. I have been watching your uploads for quite some years and still enjoy them very much. Greetings from Germany, Peter.
That's very kind of you to say! Thank you for watching my videos. All the best!
Thomas cook has been around for 178 years in the company business and 12 years of flying as a budget airliner
Your clips.....especially from this location.....love it! 👍🏼
Excellent, top quality filming and these engine sounds, thunderous like you say. A million thakns for sharing
Great footage
Great quality filming as always
WOW vintage!!! Always enjoyed your closeups into the flight deck from the 'mound' along with ATC without all that chitchat most spotters are doing nowadays... just raw sound ✈✈✈
Yep learnt from bitter experience never to film again from the Viewing Park with all the idiots chatting away behind me.
I love the BMI livery!
On the A330 it was simply breathtaking 🤗
@simon lowe aviation, I miss the British midland the good old days. I would love for someone to bring back the Airline
Imagine what the future would have been like if airlines were still around today.
Damn! Looks like you were born with a skill of beautiful filming!
Yeeears ago I watched the first video of yours (a couple of 777’s: Singapore & PIA in 4:3), and now this one with so similar image and cam movements, I feel very nostalgic :)
Thanks man! For being there at the beginning.
Awesome video
Absolutely fantastic video with superb spool-ups and roaring take-offs!!Cant thank you enough! I didnt remember that bmi flew the A330..Where were they flying it to? USA?
Yes USA, Las Vegas I think. Regards!
also to Chicago and Washington Dulles for a time.
Great video!
thanks Peter!
Love it!!! Greeeeeeeeat! 😎👍🏻😍
Awesome old footage 👍
We’ve lost 6 legends as of now
Thomas cook
BMI
First choice
US airways
Continental airlines
Concorde
Flew on the BMI to Chicago 2006 I think and then on to Orlando with Ted. Think a week or 2 before one of the other 330s they operated had a heavy landing and was in for checks.
Most of these aircraft were removed from service in early 2020. :( Nice to see them preserved here though.
Absolutely phenomenal! Can we have more? 👍
Awesome
Real in your face footage.
As always, awesome video Simon! I really miss the US Airways A330's with the PW engines in Manchester, man I loved that era so much. I think I've watched your "Smoothest Landing? US Airways Airbus A330" about a thousand times. Is there any chance you have some old footage of US Airways' A330 with the old livery?
yes I have footage of US Airways in the old livery from 2007. Stay tuned!
@@SimonLoweAviation Thanks!! I'm looking forward to it!
Is it true you turn stabilization off when filming on a tripod?
Yes, that's correct. I do use a rubber band on the tripod handle to help smooth panning. Cheers!
The first one could have been an engine change or wanting to test the brakes before powering down the runway.
19:45 weird sounds huh that's weird!
all right
Where was the BMI 330 most likely going, does anyone know?
BD751 to Las Vegas. Cheers!
As of today Flybe jumbo jets Thomas cook monarch and first choice are gone
American Airlines are the foreign airliners to come to the U.K. and so has delta and as of now American Airlines is now American and delta are no longer flying from the uk
