    Luba 2 speaker is much nicer than decoding beeps, "fuck you I am stuck" is the best voice response I Have heard

    Enjoyed your video. Trying to decide to buy the Luba 2 or the Yuka 2000. Was interested in your tare down and what the battery looked like. I don't see any source for replacing the battery. On other tools with LiION cells they seem to go weak after 18 months. If the battery isn't easy to replace, including source to buy, then I will not spend $3000 for one of these. I want a robot mower like these from Mammotion but not if they are loaded with trouble and replacement parts not available. I would have no trouble soldering.

    I'm only three minutes in, but it seems like a bumper problem.
    Finish the whole video. Definitely think it's the bumper. Now whether it's the bumper or the connection point on Luba's side is another question. Try running it without the bumper.

      I agree, I'm thinking it's specifically the bumper connection. I haven't had time to work on it again but I'll keep you posted.

    I bought one last year black Friday sale. It did great till close to august it would leave patches of grass un mowed it would back up and like when it detected an obstacle and go around but nothing was there. finally, one day it stopped working just sitting there it had an error for the rear wheel hall sensor error I sent it for repair under warrantee. other people on Redditt with similar problem.

      Did you get it back from warranty repair or did they just send a replacement?

    On the luba 2 they replaced this socket type connection of the front bumper with an automotive style in-cable connector.
    Maybe they had issues with those often.

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  Місяць тому +1

      Good to hear they made an improvement there. I fixed mine here: Luba Fix - Robot Mower Obstacle Detection

      I think the main thing was getting the bumper to slide in fully, the fit was too tight.

    The battery cable has a plug, that yellow thing on the board is a standard plug

    On the Luba 2, the electrical connections from bumper to main body are hard-wired wired (with a connector). I was surprised to see no wiring to your Luba 1 bumper. So it seems that these connections on the Luba 1 are via sliding contacts between bumper and body. And I'm guessing that's where the problem is (and likely why they changed to hard-wiring in Luba 2). You DID try "bumper only" (turning off ultrasonic sensors), which re-confirmed a bumper electrical contact issue.
    Ah!, as I'm watching the end of the video, I was going to suggest contact cleaner on these copper (?) contact areas of bumper and body, but see now that you DID do this. So ya, it seems that proved it. :-)
    The "backing itself into trouble" seems like a separate issue with the GPS positioning. Maybe try remapping that area, and don't set your outer perimeter so close to the trouble spots?

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  2 місяці тому

      Yes, it uses sliding contacts and I think that is where the problem is. It was working ok right after cleaning and then not the next morning. I'm thinking moisture got in the contact overnight? Also, the sliding fit with the bumper has become very tight and that might be preventing the contacts from seating fully. I need to work on cleaning/sanding the fit so that seats fully.

    Great vid! Been looking for longer term luba vids!
    Any particular reason for the tenacity/mesotrione? I used for a minute but then I personally ended up finding a good 4 way selective to be far more effective against the weeds actually💀and no ugly white stuff on the lawn. Outside of seeding… I kind of stopped using it. Not a attack comment - to each their own 😊

    Does the Luba 1 and Luba 2 differ so much that the app is different? I have a Luba 2 and the app (1.11.267) has Direct, Slow, Less or No Touch options.

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  2 місяці тому

      Yes, the Luba 2 removes the ultrasonic sensors and adds the vision system. The vision system has more capability, hence the addition of "No Touch."

    Sucks about your Luba. Maybe the company can help?
    Meanwhile, let's ditch it and do more X7 videos! I'm leaning towards getting an X7 Pro. Waiting for the release. Excited that it should be out later this summer.

    • @TheLawnEngineer

      I am planning on reaching out to the company, we will see what they have to say.
      The X7 has taken over the half the of the lawn Luba was doing. I will work on an update but its been working great recently.

    Hi, did you figure your problem out yet? I just ordered a new Luba one for a big discount so I'm pretty curious about potential issues. Sounds like those bumper contacts can be an issue from the other videos I have watched. I'm getting a garage and I'm hoping that will extend its life.

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  2 місяці тому

      Yes, it was the bumper contacts. I just got it going last night.
      The bumper didn't seem to be seating fully so I sanded the components, cleaned the contacts and things fit together more easily. After that it worked perfectly.

    Do you like the Orion or the Luba better

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  Місяць тому +2

      I really can’t fully recommend either. The Luba has been more reliable and cuts a bit better but it tears up the grass.
      The Orion turns without damaging the grass but has not been very reliable. The unit has never broke down but I’ve had issues. Check out my latest video for an update on the X7.

    Mine just started doing the same thing after lightly cleaning it with water to fix stuck mow and start buttons. I tried what the Crazypostman suggested and ran it without the bumper. It still detects obstacles, beeps, and backs up without the bumper.
    Have you had a chance to try to get yours working again?

    Left front wheel not driving on my Luba 2 10000 H. Before trying a factory reset (which worked for someone as found online, but then you lose all your task areas), I thought I'd swap motors left to right and right to left first as a troubleshooting method. I have all the screws out on the bottom but the white cover will not separate from the black bottom part more than 1/16" in any given spot, and springs right back together when I let go. I don't want to break anything or damage any seals. Any ideas on what I should do?

    • @TheLawnEngineer

      I had the same problem and I was missing two screws. Take another look, when the screws are all out it came apart easily.

    So have you give up on robots

    • @TheLawnEngineer
      @TheLawnEngineer  2 місяці тому

      No, but this is the risk with being an early adopter. I have an Orion X7 that was sharing cutting duties, that has now taken over the entire lawn.
      They are not quite ready for the main stream consumer, but as they say...these are the worst robot mowers we will have, they are only going to get better.

    • @TheLawnEngineer

      That’s where I landed…the switches in the bumper checked out so it much be the contacts between the bumper and the body.

      @@TheLawnEngineer Luba 2 has a waterproof wire connection between the bumper and unit, guessing it's an issue and that was their correction. A little rubbing alcohol and some q-tips to clean the contacts might help, followed by some deoxit.

    Bought a luba 1 in april, worked for 6 weeks. Battery died. Sent back, was sent to Germany. Mower was lost. Received a replacement mower. Set it up. Fault in rtk unit. Out of the box. Got old rtk and it worked. Once. Then blades jammed message. The blades were not jammed. Sent it back wlth threat of solicitors. Received a full refund. Wonderful idea. Very disappointing
