Hi Zilla. Skipping gears in a manual gearbox is called "Box Changing" over here in Europe due to the shape you draw as you change... down, across up. or up across down. incidentally, most trucks in Europe are now automatic... but the auto boxes also skip gears as they detect the best gear to be in rather than moving through the box sequentially. they sometimes start in mad high gears like 6th for pulling away depending on the load. great video as always mate.
I haven’t tried it in the game shifting gears without using the clutch but I have done it in real life in a semi truck, its called floating gears, when you get to a certain rpm the gears in the transmission synchronize and you can slide the shifter from one gear to another. Going up in gears when rpm match take foot of throttle for a split second to take pressure of the gears and slide the shifter over to next higher gear, going down in gears when rpm match take foot of for a second slide shifter into neutral, tap on throttle for split second to bring rpm up a bit and slide shifter into the lower next gear. You might be able to do that also in the game, give it a try.
City Car Driving Home Edition would be a great game to learn manual transmission on. I taught my daughter to drive a manual on Test Drive Unlimited with the old Logitech wheel, 3 pedal and shifter 15 years ago when she was 10.
Thanks! Nerdy Nana recommended City Car Driving as well for learning how to shift. I'll ask my daughter if she wants to give it a shot! She's only home for a few more days but maybe she'll want to try. :)
Amazing hidden road and a daylight drive in wonderland but no view point. I did like the wrong way Marshall, but at least no ticket. I will around for the live stream tomorrow. Thank you
Very interesting to see how the shifter alters the gaming experience. Have you seen the wheel and wheel+pedal+further control sets specific for truck sim games? The HORI pack and the Moza sets look amazing. Expensive but far closer to real truck controls I think. Not that the logitech wheel is bad. I use the same logitech as you myself.
I was actually looking today at some of the full cockpit style set ups, those are wild. The channel would have to be a lot bigger to justify that. :) I did another delivery in ETS2 today and the shifter is feeling better, but I think it's going to take a while for it to become second nature, so that I don't have to think about it.
Cool hidden road with abit of banter to go with it. I wonder if that is there in regular driving in Texas or just part of the Winterland mapping? Looking fwd to your stream! Happy New Year mate!
You engage the clutch when stopped, getting rolling. But shifting between gears you don’t need to use the clutch. I found on Amazon they have an Eaton 18 speed shifter attachment I want to try out
I might check that shifter attachment out, thanks! When I shift gears without engaging the clutch the gear doesn't seem to be changing. I'll have to try again. I must be doing something wrong.
Highly recommend BeamNG to learn driving a manual. The clutch bite point might need some tinkering, but I remember enjoying casually cruising in it while I had a shifter.
I feel like mentally I've got it down, but skill-wise I need to be able to nurse the clutch better and keep a part of my brain alert to the revolutions of the engine and what gear that corresponds too.
Hey quick question, im running reforma- all 3 that it needs, canamania, midwest expansion and coast to coast, as soon as i added reforma it deleted basically all of the east coast cities. I have reforma at the bottom is there any info you can give me to help
@ is there a better midwest expansion? I got my cities back but now with the midwest expansion beta installed theres no details in map. Is there a different midwest mod you use?
I haven't checked out the map mods for a couple of months now, but I thought that midwest map combined and changed with another one? Not sure, sorry. I'll be messing with the maps in the next week or so, though. Now that I'm done with the Christmas event I want to mod up ATS again for Big World. :)
Sorry Zilla. I avoid live streams. If the length is short like you normal videos I'll watch them later, otherwise I will miss them. I also do not understand why anyone does shorts. No reason to watch them because they are over just as they start. Waste of time.
@@ZillaBlitzPC Please do keep the regular videos coming. I've purchased ATS and ETS2 due to your videos. I've also purchased some board games after your reviews on your other channel. Our tastes in games may not always match up, but they are close enough that I trust your reviews. :)
Do you want me to get you a list of each city that has a nearby hidden road and secret roads. The difference is that hidden roads are required for the 100% map completion and will appear on the map when discovered however secret roads do not appear on the map. I could do it for the USA and euro truck 2 but on the euro truck 2 I can also do it for the promods file
I'm REALLY liking the snowy terrain. Nice!
The snow mod adds a ton to the game at this time of the year, especially for the Christmas event. :)
So am I!

Interesting, thanks! Seems like shifting gears has changed so much since when I drove a manual. :)
Just finished the event!!! Happy New Year to everyone!!!
Congrats! Happy New Year!

Hmm. Okay, this makes sense. I’ll try this tomorrow. Thanks!

I think this is the 11th delivery and only two have been in daylight hours. :) I look forward to seeing you on the stream tomorrow!
Nice video
Thanks!

Yeah, I think the road must always be there, part of the Texas map probably? Happy New Year, thanks for stopping in to the stream! :)
Good luck with the stream...I'm busy tomorrow, so probably won't be able to drop in.
Thanks! No worries, happy new year!

You may not know but you can do shorts up to 3 minutes now. I normally avoid livestreams but if I'm up I'll be there.
Yes, I have some ideas for 3-minute shorts, looking forward to trying some out next year. :)

@@ZillaBlitzPC I am hoping to buy haptic motors next week. I think that would help a lot.
I will join your stream tommorow I'll try making it because today I'm staying till 1 or 2 am so I'll join asap
I look forward to seeing you there! :)
I had a fever the whole holidays and i was also in hospital
Sorry to hear that I hope you feel better.
What other websites do you use for mods ?
Kind of depends on where the mod that I want is hosted, but Trucky Mods is good. ProMods has all their stuff, too. :)

Hmm. It might be the mod order or there might be some sort of map combo file you need when you two of those mods installed in the same profile.
@ is there a better midwest expansion? I got my cities back but now with the midwest expansion beta installed theres no details in map. Is there a different midwest mod you use?

Could you do a euro truck simulator 2 livestream sometime soon
I think the next stream will be Jan 11 and will be ETS2. :)
Thank you
And can you do it in the Iberia area
I want to finish the Greek event so I'll be doing it there. :)
