So, you have disdain for someone who didn't like the way his music was being twisted and commodified? I loved Soul Coughing, even El Oso, and I loved it for the complete conglomeration of sound, not just Doughty's songwriting. However, I totally get his resentment, and if you've ever been addicted to a heavy substance, you should have a little more understanding (not excusing) for some of his post-SC behavior.
But hey, if coming on the 'Tube and thumbs-downing someone's performance because you don't agree with their past handling of their OWN life experiences makes you feel like you're doing something important, well, whatever dude.

Way more relaxed feeling now that he has found his musical pocket outside of Soul Coughing where it was too tense for him to relax and let his talent come out because of the hate beaming at him. Congratulations Mike. Keep on down this path.

And as for him saying, with regard to Grand Canyon, that he's never played it prior to this, I have a bootleg of him playing it live in 2000 at the Bowery on his first post-cough solo tour.
