Not gonna lie, hearing him play You’ll Find a Better Way in that key with that electroacoustic sound was wonderful. At this point, I definitely know I like Mike’s solo stuff along with SC.
I think he is incredible. He is such a gifted musician, and this is the kind of music i grew up on. I love Storytellers..and he is one of the best I have ever heard. Thanks Mike for the awesome songs, that I relate to so well. When it safe to tour again, Come to Atlanta! would love to see you live!
I was lucky enough to hear Mike play circles on an all acoustic recently and it was transformative! Thank you Mike D!
what a lovely and brilliant human being
omg... soul coughing... i love it...
Mike doesn't like Soul Coughing, according to Mike Doughty. Read his book,"The Book of Drugs".
@Chris.Treborn Oh how times have changed
Very few people can pull off the solo "Electricoustic" set like Mike does. Awesome!
Mike Doughty and John Darnielle together would be amazing
I saw a show on this tour where he's directing the band live it was incredible!
Just saw the same tour. Maybe the best small venue show I've ever seen.
Saw him with Wheatus in Milwaukee a year and a half or so ago and will see him with Wheatus again this Friday! Tremendous show.
It's like Dave Matthews muse or vica versa. Idk but mucho love
Nice
When you are tired of mythbusters and start playing guitar
R O A S T E D
uuuuuuu
11:00-14:38 is harsh on the ears.
It's the best part of the video. It's the tension and dissonance that makes it.
He follows pitch with it. Love it!
Totally agree. What a mediocre sterilization of such a great song.
Have a video/link you can share of you un-sterilizing a great song we could hear, @@joesutherland2017?
I’d consider it fine if I didn’t compare it to the original. I just love it way more admittedly, bot to denounce the simple and inventive nature of this rendition.
I was a huge Soul Coughing fan back in the day. I was just starting to play guitar and bass when Super Bon Bon came out. Loved that bass line. Had no idea Mike continued on.
You’ll definitely like ghost of vroom 3 with scrap! It’s like a soul coughing upgrade! Love that album. Mike is a genius. Period!
touring 2024 bro!@@sw9979
that fender coronado tho
The Green Goblin 💚
Why Mike and Soul Coughing is so underrated?
Great set. Your political rant held up, man. No need to apologize 😄
you are a fantastic wordsmith!! and I LOVE your guitar!!!!
If you ever get a chance to see him, yell fire truck,it's a funny Lil song,I somehow found and yelled it and he played laughing. Every show of his and soul coughing was so much fun. Thanks for the music gang
Doughty is great! 🔥
Two of my absolute favorites Mike Doughty and Marc Maron!
Mike is a huge inspiration.
Now is the time to be political, Mr. Doughty. We should be mad and we should be angry. Thank you.
Mike Doughty is the shizzle!
2021 anyone else??
love this man!!
this is great
Mike don't stop.
Yes fucking yes !
Lovelovelovelove
Fun to watch this now. I loved this all!!!
He's been playing that old fender for over 20 years now.
it got stolen at one point, no? is it the same one?
@@maximilian333 yep it was some neighborhood kids. He got it back unscathed thankfully
Yes had that axe since I can fucking remember
He reminds me of a talented Gavin McInnes
Oh my God, you're so good and charming, sir
Marc Maron is a wizard!!!!
Laaaaaaaazy Bones
please
The only irreplaceable member of soul coughing. Such a shame.
I think Soul Coughing can only be Mike, Mark, Sebastian and Yuval. If any personnel were different it wouldn't be soul coughing.
@@Everclearfan86 Mark had his experimental electronic compositions from his academic endeavors
Sebastian as described in Mike’s book, was astonishingly talented with wizardly ears who was great with improvising good complementary bass lines
Yuval who had this weird setup with 2 snares, and played hip-hop beats with a great sound. His odd technique resulted in amazing drum and bass, acid jazz, and alternative hip-hop.
Then there’s Mike. He’s like the ringleader that sits in the bitch seat instead of shotgun, but he writes great stuff. He composes the outlines for the songs. He’s a poet who remixes jazz stuff and implements samples that make a song sound better.
This is why Soul Coughing is excellent. And there is no weak link in the band. I can’t discredit any of them for their abilities, I just believe no one is really what made Soul Coughing what it was.
@@crudecube I grew up listening to bands that when you check their history, is complicated. Mike has talent writing songs and blowing up on the mic, and his guitar is not bad. It seems he used to have this thing that you believe that you make the group, because you came up with the name and such. But one person doesn't make the band. They're all a team. It's amazing they lasted about 3 albums and left a mark that will remain with a lot of people still listening to their music.
@@leon4000 Mike Doughty has also mentioned “Soul Coughing” is just a terrible name for a band, basically.
@@Lesalyhe became a pretentious douche it seems. I met him twice briefly after shows and he seemed very much that.
"If you are not questioning yourself then you are not a liberal" - Mike Doughty
Then there are no liberals today
His ego ruined him.
