Instagram - AdamTheWooATW I know this is a super deep cut and most who watch my channel won’t watch it or care but I’m into researching in great detail and presenting history. I feel pretty confident that I found and showed a few spots from this classic that have never before been documented or discovered . I’ll get back on track with daily uploads soon and more stuff that appeals to a wider audience but keep in mind on occasion I must do stuff like this for my artistic integrity .
Going old school!!! I love it. Sunset Boulevard is such a classic. I haven’t watched it in years, but it still stands up. Another Billy Wilder hit. Great work once again!
One of my favorite movies! My dad is one of the guys that “meticulously restored” this film in the ‘90’s. He’s even got a small interview in the extras part of the dvd! Great work Adam!
I was completely absorbed by this movie when watching it in the 1960's as a teenager! Appreciate your great variety of research, and delightful presentation. Thoroughly have enjoyed this work!!
Hi, Adam. Although evidently posted 2 yrs. ago, I just watched this and really hope you see my comment. For me, it is just as moving in its own way as the film, if only just for the memories it evokes. Thank you for the work you put into making it and for taking me along with you. Great work!
Natalie Wood and James Dean filmed a scene inside the same swimming pool in "Rebel without a Cause". The pool was empty by then just before demolition.
I'm an LA native and went to law school at the law school housed in the Bullocks Wilshire (Southwestern). The first floor is used as the law library and there are some historical display cases inside with pictures of it in its heyday. When I went to school there, they had pics of Sunset Blvd and the scenes filmed in BW. Also, somewhat unrelated but still interesting, up on the top floor, you'll find the old tea room. It's opulently art deco and unquestionably eerie like the bar room scene in The Shining. You should try to schedule a tour there one of these days.
Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together Sunset Blvd is one of my favorite movies ! I have seen it many times ! I really appreciate this vid ! I grew up in California and I'm still here ! I love this state and especially all the old historical parts of Los Angeles. There are so many hidden gems of history. I have seen so many changes since the late 70's and the 80's. So many things need to be preserved ! Bullocks Wilshire and the old hospital in East Los Angeles are real treasures as well ! You can really feel the energy of days gone by ! Well done, keep up the great work !
💋Absolutely Fantastic vlog! I love Gloria Swanson. Sunset Boulevard is such a classic. I have her autobiography. It is wonderful and unbelievably honest. What a woman she was. She died the year I was born I think. Blessings to you for doing this. ~Love&Light💖C.
I love LOVE your filming location videos. Especially since you’ve been doing some of my all-time favorite movies, including this one! Videos like these remind me all over again how much I appreciate what you do.
Adam I have followed you for years, and this is one of my favorite movies and this vlog is one of my favorites you have ever done ! Amazing Research to find all the locations and awesome to see the Mansions driveway still exists
Adam. ADAM. Probably my favorite video you have ever done. Seriously. I studied Film & Media studies at OU with a Theory/Movie History concentration. Sunset Boulevard is one of my favorites and I was impressed by how well researched and presented this was! Plus, you could sense the joy you felt doing this... And that's the kind of medicine that is so hard to come by these days. Joy. No matter what you do next, please keep these film/set history vids in the mix. You have a knack for them, and I think you would be surprised how many people out here (like myself!) will love them. :)
Adam - thank you for this video. I was introduced to Sunset Boulevard through the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical which then made me watch the original movie. This movie was way ahead of its time when it came out in regards to peeling back the layers of hollywood and showing the dark side of fame...especially when you lose it. This was clearly a labor of love and I appreciate it! Thanks!!
I don't normally watch the Woo's filming location videos, as I'm not really a film historian. But Sunset Blvd is one of my favorite classic movies, and I have tremendous respect for the work put in to find all these locations, so I clicked on this as soon as I could. Very well done Adam and Natalie!
Another favorite classic. What I think is one of Billy Wilder's best films. Loved that he got Erich Von Stroheim to play Max. Swanson and Von Stroheim worked together in the silent days. Also loved that scene with the silent film stars and Hedda Hopper playing cards together. Glad that Wilder used Bill Holden's narration in the beginning rather than his original idea of bodies in a morgue telling their tale. To my mind it was more effective. Great work researching all those shots. It's sad what Hollywood landmarks have been lost over the years. Keep up the good work.
Great movie and wonderful cast! Thanks for your attention to detail, Adam. Appreciate your hard work and obvious joy in recounting the facts and showing us the locations where the film was made. And really nice to see Natalie again!
Watched the movie for the first time last night and remembered you doing this video. It was a great movie and I really enjoyed watching you tour the filming spots. Great job Adam!
Just watched, great research. These old classics are what i think if when i visit LA, Hollywood, Beverly hills, etc. I vacation somtimes with my sister (we're like best friends) and we like to pick out and stay at the old original hotels (or old condos/apartments turned into hotels) such as those in West Hollywood. It's such great history, love it!
You have surpassed yourself this time! What a pleasure to finally know the movie locations of this classic that I love so much! Congratulations are not enough! You deserve an Oscar nomination for best movie location video! Beautifully done, photographed and edited! "Touch of Evil", "Sunset Boulevard"... I am just imagining what will come next.
Adam, like you said on your Instagram story, with slight sarcasm, perhaps you would have gotten more views in the first 12 hours if you just sat there eating a churro. I appreciate your effort from this video.
Sunset Boulevard being one of my favorite movies, your title naturally caught my attention and I'm glad I stayed. Wow... I must applaud your creation. The time and research you've devoted is powerfully impressive and I'm certain, reflects your love for this Billy Wilder masterpiece. Bravo!
Love that you're doing these becasue I get to learn about movies that I might have otherwise never known about. Please keep doing these. The Disney videos are cool and all but it's nice to take a break from them. Can only watch you ride rollercoasters so many times before they all look the same.
Sidenote = this is one of my all-time favorite movies and I'm absolutely thrilled that you're doing this. Such a great film. Timeless. People should watch it if they haven't. Great call on your part. Dig it.
Thank you for making this! Sunset Boulevard is one of my favorite movies. Such a shame that mansion didn't survive. I remember the first time I watched Sunset boulevard how struck and haunted I was by the shots of that lonely rundown mansion. I believe it was actually abandoned when they shot the movie.
I REALLY LOVED this VLOG, one thing though, at 10060 Sunset Blvd. there are two driveways to the old mansion off Sunset Boulevard on each corner of the property. Did you investigate the one that’s was just a bit west of that abandoned driveway you pointed out? Check the gate entrance to the left (there are TWO gates) of this address, 10086 Sunset Blvd, for the entrance to the Owlwood Beverly Hills Mansion at 10100 Sunset Blvd which is uses 3 LOTS, including the 10060 Sunset Blvd. which uses the abandoned driveway that you discovered. When I was in film school in the early 1980s, many students asked my professor about how to find the famous house and he said with a smile, “you’ll never find it.” Back in the day before the internet, we used to get obscure information the old-fashioned way by word of mouth.
I LOVED this video. Your best ever!!! I cannot get over the research you did to find these locations. And the photos for great visuals. You are the best.
My husband and I have been enjoying watching the movie videos... we love the old movies. We enjoy watching all of your videos no matter where a what you film. You make all your videos entertaining in Adam the woos unique way. Thank you for all your hard work you put in to entertain all of us. 🎬🎥
Personally I enjoy these vlogs because I've watched Sunset Boulevard several times. The stream of consciousness narration from the opening of the movie that takes the viewers back in time and brings them full circle back to the opening was great. Billy Wilder did a fine job and enjoyed Jack Webb in his pre Joe Friday days. Good job on this
HEY ATW, ONE MORE THING...These film locations on classic movies are imperative to the history of Hollywood's movie industry. Some will love it, some won't . DO IT ANYWAY! Some years down the road, you will be recognized as one of the most important historical documentation geniuses of our time! Your work is so intriguing and fascinating . Not only do you do your homework, but your keen eye and discernment of things past are legendary! Also, those "Yes Men" said "No to me"! Too funny!
Outstanding work, really enjoyed this Adam. It's one of my favorite motion pictures and I have the poster hanging in my home office. Fun to see Natalie join you for this!
I love how authentic the movie is and that all of the actresses who were silent film stars in the movie were that in real life too. And also that their old director in the film was actually her old director. I have much respect for the director for making films like this one and "Some Like it Hot" that pushed against the strict censorship of the time. Very cool, Woo!!! Over my 70 years, I've watched this movie several times. Loved William Holden!! One of my favorites ❤!! Thanks for this!! You put in a lot of research. Much appreciated!!

Any material available for a “Casablanca” vlog? Thanks Adam.

Gotta love when Adam does a “filming locations” on one of your favorite movies
Glad you enjoy them
One of my favorite movies! My dad is one of the guys that “meticulously restored” this film in the ‘90’s. He’s even got a small interview in the extras part of the dvd! Great work Adam!
That’s really cool. The Blu Ray version looks amazing
This movie never gets old to me. Keep up the old Hollywood content!
I was completely absorbed by this movie when watching it in the 1960's as a teenager! Appreciate your great variety of research, and delightful presentation. Thoroughly have enjoyed this work!!
Without realising it, I have needed this video all my life! Love the film, love Adam!
Really enjoyed this. Sunset Boulevard is one of my favorite old movies.
Gloria Swanson was robbed of the Oscar for Sunset Blvd.
Judy Holiday was not half so good as Gloria.

A true classic! So glad you're presenting vlogs on these films noir. I got into the genre recently and have watched about 75 so far.
Rudolf Serkin was a classical pianist who recorded in Hollywood.
Great historical piece of movie magic.
