    We use VR headsets in a small aviation museum, and are testing moving to the Quest 3. The leather (versus foam) liner is critical, so we can wipe it with an alcohol wipe between users. So, thanks for the information, we'll give them a try!

    You should look into reality mixer, which allows you to utilize the pass through camera on the Q3, so you can see your physical controllers yet see the virtual reality cockpit around it. Quite amazing.

    Transitioning from WIFI 5 to WIFI 6 - with VD - has been truly remarkable. No longer plagued by low, highly variable, receive link speeds. Now they remain between 1100 and 1200. Plenty!

    I love my Q3 but it's VERY uncomfortable out of the box. In fact it's even worse than the Q2. You can get a very comfortable headstrap with battery for around 50 EUR.
    Only downside of the Q3 is the glaring when doing night flights.

    • @VRFlightSimGuy
      @VRFlightSimGuy  9 місяців тому

      I'd say the glare is pretty good compared to other headsets like the Index, Reverb G2 and especially the Beyond. But for zero god rays and glare, Aspheric lenses are hard to beat. Thanks for watching.

  • @Mithrin126
    @Mithrin126 8 місяців тому

    Thanks again for this vid. I have now been able to order the new headstrap with battery online and I've been using it for a few weeks. For the first time I am enjoying MSFS 2020 in VR more than in 2D. Just ordered the AMVR interface, both leather and silk, which should make it all even more comfortable!
    One of the best things about VR for me..I love flying over the UK and in 2D up and above say 4500ft you start to lose the feeling of elevation on the hills below...in VR this doesn't go away and this has improved my approaches into mountain strips so much. It makes it so much more natural to plan my approach into a strip and figure out the elevation and slope of it!

    I'm grateful to you for giving me the motivation to buy the Q3. Even my 2080 at medium settings is working pretty darn good I love the idea of owning the pimax but then I would need another $3500 for a computer to really take advantage of the best resolution. I really enjoy the virtual desktop and often use it in lieu of VR because of the clarity and just to change things up. Wireless is so much better than my old Reverb. I also love watching movies with it.

    Hey! Hoping you can help me. I'm totally new to VR, I'm 32 and only bought a quest 3 a few days ago, so I don't have any baseline. I can't find any concrete answers on what is the best connection method for the headset. There's the steam link in the quest 3, the paid for virtual desktop app, the wireless quest link, and then quest link with a cable. I can't find which one is the best for image quality and stability. I mainly got the quest 3 to play VTOL VR, and the graphics are ok, but I always feel like they should be a little bit better. And I do get issues where it sometimes just stops responding for a second or two and then comes alive again. Is it a case of having a cable supplying power the headset performs better? Or is there no difference at all? Is a virtual desktop running steam better than the steam link? I'm totally lost and would love some direction! I realise this is an old video but if you, or anyone in the comments section could help that would be great.

      I’m in the exact same situation as what you describe here. Bought a Quest 3 for VTOL VR. And yes I always feel like it could be a bit better, and sometimes it does skip for a second. Wondering whether you found the best solution for connecting the headset to your PC? From what I’ve read, VD seems to give the best performance but I don’t understand how wireless could be better than Quest Link cable (which I’m using now)?!

    • @dixienormus8097
      @dixienormus8097 21 день тому +1

      Hey bud, I'm just using a straight cabled connection these days, the lag and stutter was just too bad for wireless. I also did connectivity tests using the software and noticed there was a large difference between some of my ports, so that's worth checking out for sure. I know I changed some settings but god knows what they were. I still wish it was better :\

      This is exactly the same for me! I could use Quest 2 ok without glasses, but Quest 3 is a bit blurry without them and gives me eye strain. I might be wrong but it could be that the fixed focus distance has changed on Quest 3 and is further away than what Quest 2 was. Quest 2 was about 1.3 meters but I haven't found any info on what Quest 3's focus distance is. Or it could be the sharper lenses. Whatever it is it makes my eyes feel whacky if I look at it for too long without glasses.
