First stand up whose act literally blew my mind. Who puts so much effort into losing the whole audience for 1/2 of a 10 minute set pointing out bland points of a bland image... only to turn the whole thing around in a line and revisit the first 1/2 in a different vein. That level of ability matched with that level of confidence. A landmark. In 1984 everyone liked Blackadder and/or The Young Ones. I saw him and had no reverence for anyone else for years if not decades.
I've been trying to find this sketch for years, but couldn't remember the name of the guy who did it until I saw his name in the credits of Derry Girls.
"make love not war... get out your sex pistols and you can do both of them at the same time" The whole show is full of comedy genius, this may be his peak. I think Stewart Lee has borrowed a lot from this
Stewart Lee in his book "How I Escaped My Certain Fate" mentions a lot of comedians who he loves and is influenced by and gives McAleer a shout as a genius
I thought this was 1995, I saw this exact show in the Empire but I was with my husband and a work colleague and her husband. I wasn't working with her until 1995. Excellent show though!
He's definitely one of the highlights in Derry Girls
Just one of the very best. Crying with laughter. Love the fella.
3:40 The woman and the washing powder
So underated hes so drole ......its definitely Genius ...Kevin ya legend :)
He and Orla are my favorite Derry Girls characters, because they are so real.
Amazing how Kevin makes simple yarns just hilarious. Nobody else can do this type of comedy. Shows you don't need bad language or offensive remarks.
Norm MacDonald. RIP.
He is deadpan hilarious😂
How has this only 300 views. He's an absolute genius.
Into 300, 43,635 does not go
BECAUSE THE WORLD IS A MAD PLACE
Was the part of Uncle Colm in Derry Girls written just for him, he fits it so well!
Cannot beat Mr. McAleer. So funny and so smart.
I love this guy
Only Irish comedian that can reduce me to tears
try tommy tiernan
@@7EEVEE he's shite

Nice tribute Bad Pharma. Hopefully you get to see him in Derry Girls. He never lost it!
Sounds like yourself and Stewart Lee are kindred spirits!
The Kojak bit is fantastic.. Mrs Kojak, She was as bald as he was 😂😂😂.
And i say to myself, says i....😂😂
Colm, this is no day for a do!
Put the captions on and watch from 20:40 when he says the rosary the captions interpret Holy Mary as Halle Berry.
protip
Uncle Colm in Derry Girls.
Same character too. Absolute class.
I'm here because of you, Stew

I thought he was from Portglenone lolllll
one of the biggest yapper (compliment) i know
There is a priest in Father Ted that sounds exactly like him.. It must have either been based on him or written for him.
Who was the fellow stand up he did the double act with discussing politics?
Old McDonald🤣🤣🤣

Excellent show though!
McAleer says you were on the doss with her until 1995 then !:P
This reminds me of Chic Murray….the same meaningless droll patter…..I says to myself says I……
He bears an uncanny resemblance to Neil Peart...

why dont they have english subtitles to translate this from ulster scots?
Because it's in English
"ulster scots" ho ho ho!
because its not in Ulster Scots
It's the Tyrone accent, not ulster scots
loved him back in the day.. he was the funniest ever but it bores me now…
maybe because I heard it all before..
I used to enjoy Kevin..
But most of this isn't funny it's offensive to anyone who's got even a bit of religious belief...
Lighten up, Eamon.
