Hey animation fans. Animator Talk, here to celebrate the art of animation, and its contribution to entertainment of yesterday, today and into the future.
While in the final months of production of Snow White and the seven dwarfs, Walt searched for his next film idea. Even though Snow was his biggest gamble of his career… and life, Walt kept moving forward, looking for his follow-up to this film. Roy was skeptical, as Snow was only still in production. Hollywood referred to the project as “Disney’s folly”. He wasn’t eager to begin production of a second film until he knew they were onto something. Walt didn’t concern himself with what the naysayers were blabbing about. He knew what he was doing and knew they’d love his films.
Today on Animator Talk, we discuss Making Disney's Pinocchio | following up Snow White. We will delve into the history of the creative process in making this animated piece, and some of the troubles on the way. To me, Animation isn't a kid's medium, though we commonly use it for children's programming. The stigma has been lessened over the years, but we still have a way to go. So, come join me in appreciating animation for the wonder that it is.

Pinocchio is a well-cast, well-animated, and well-written classic.

Pinocchio is the Citizen Kane of animation - Snow White may be the one that started it all, but this is the first Disney feature that feels really, fully cinematic.
