  • How They Made THE IRON GIANT
A suprprise sleeper hit, released late in the summer of 1999, would later become a cult classic. We're discussing the making of Brad Bird's The Iron Giant.
Today on Animator Talk, we discuss . We will delve into the history of the creative process in making this animated piece, and some of the troubles on the way. To me, Animation isn't a kid's medium, though we commonly use it for children's programming. The stigma has been lessened over the years, but we still have a way to go. So, come join me in appreciating animation for the wonder that it is.

I think Disney had the best catalogue of animated films, but I think WB has the best one ever made with the Iron Giant.

Warner Bros’ animated movie 🎥 The Iron Giant was a box office flop when it came out back in August of 1999.

Despite this movie being a box-office bomb, the movie did gather a cult following and do well with critics and audiences alike. Even Ted Turner loved it so much.

If only Warner Bros knew what they had at the time. They should have poured more cash into the advertising on this

Was not expecting this one. I remember watching Iron giant when I was a small kid. I was so wanting to hear "where the giant Mansley?"

was at that time a sport for them xD i was so happy watching this movie it was such a air of change and release
i couldn't take another small foot sugar coated cyanide pill xD
coincidentally that day was the first time i also watched the indian in the cupboard

This film was such a departure from what the studio had gotten used to putting out. What a treat this film was. Then Warner went right back to what they did best. Putting out sub par animatied movies

@@AnimatorTalk back then I hoped they would make more animations akin to the iron giant' I was bored with the rehashed recycled storytelling that's why I loved this movie so much, it stood out' from the rest the indian from the cupboard was also different from that point of view' concept of a kid being seen as a supreme being but being revealed to be just a child' who needed guidance was great
These movies are on my top ten movie list and I always recommend them to people to give it a try :)

Agreed. Their DC direct to video films (most of them) are pretty decent, but I’m afraid WB isn’t interested in really compelling animation.
