Love
Don't rescue me
I’ve got nowhere
Better I want to be
I want to be held
But not beholden
Standing my ground
With one eye open
This fight doesn't quite add up
Love
I thought you were free
But now I'm on the hook
For all you've given me
Does it matter what I say
Or think or do?
You see what you see
With the lens you're looking through
This fight keeps me tied
To the worst in me
And it's killing me
Killing me
Killing me
Love
I'm losing my voice
You led me to believe
I had a choice
Let's pause
Retract our claws
You could take my side
While I take yours
This fight keeps me tied
To the worst in me
And it's killing me
Killing me
Killing me
Love
Come rescue me
I've got nowhere
Better I want to be
This fight keeps me tied
To the worst in me
And it's Killing me
Killing me
Killing me
Killing me
Killing me

Hey all, we just wanted to let everyone know that Tal’s new album “Love Remains” is out now! You can hear @ TalWilkenfeld.lnk.to/LoveRemains - Team TW
Tal Wilkenfeld going to get it for sure ! Your LP is wonderful ... so melodic and lyrical ♥️
Got it. Love every minute of it. I needed something like this! Thank you!
An interesting work. You can express your musicality in many ways... lucky you! ;)
You good, you 🔥 is that so wrong, slaying that bass
Such talent... bought the album. It's great.
I knew she was an amazing bassist...did not know she sang so beautifully.
Me too.
Me either… This is the first time I’ve ever heard her sing
I’ve been watching Tal for quite some time now. She’s brilliant and one of my fave female bassists. Her work with the amazing Jeff Beck is amazeballs 🎸😎
Same here … maybe I’ll get an album…
Watched an interview, she began as a singer songwriter at 16. Brilliant. Australian, they seem to breed musicians there.
This young woman plays magical bass, plays with the jazz greats and the biggest rock'n'rollers, looks like an angel and sings like one too! Wow. She's got all the bases covered. Bravo, Tal!
Oh, Catherine. You mis-spelled "basses". "She's got all the basses covered". ;)
@@igorwaldl1690, Oh, Igor, everybody understood what she ment, you silly! We are not here for the spelling, but for the music, and I prefer someone who says something even with spelling errors, to someone who writes flawlessly, but says nothing... Just in ase, she meant bases anyway, not basses (bfy.tw/PJPT), and BTW, speaking about spelling, the correct form is misspelled, not mis-spelled... Nor miss-pelled...🤔😅
@@cornelgherasim5684 "That was a joke, you fool" sign.
OK, great there Cornel. I guess I'll let you off the hook "Just in ase'' you forgot to use your SPELLCHECK for your own "spelling errors". Igor's comment was clever not demeaning. I know covid has everyone depressed but lighten up. You didn't live in subway tunnels in London during the Luftwaffe bombing raids. You didn't crawl in the tunnels in Cu Chi, you probably aren't dying of cancer.and you hopefully weren't an altar boy in the Catholic church. Complain about the real (important) shit like how technology, corrupt gov'ts, financial greed and thousands of years old religions are destroying our precious blue marble.
@@cornelgherasim5684 ummm I think you missed the point entirely.....I am sure you probably get that now, but "just in ase" you didn't...see what I did there, or would you like me to explain that as well
Singing and playing those intricate baselines is incredibly difficult...She is right there in some very elite company of Bassists who sing lead...we all know who they are.
Killer track, grooves like hell...her play with seemingly dissonant harmonies dissolving into a short major chord, plus the drumming and the distorted guitar!! Musical candy!!
Yea theez is delight
Does this sound as KORN..yes it does, surely it feels like it!
@@fransiboybit of PT in there, all good!! brilliant bassist
As an over 60years old muscian i am very happy to say this: Once there was this amazing guy, named Hendrix....now we have the amazing Wilkenfeld!
Damn didn’t know Tal could sing, wow let that voice free! She totally Rocks! what an amazing musician.
I agree!
She, a master of bass beyond belieft, can't sing very well.
Singing and playing bass at same time too
I just said that - never knew a revelation
She plays Acoustic too
This is the first time I've heard her sing and I love her voice; powerful and distinct.
Try looking up Chelsea Hotel.
I think she sounds good... but I would not describe her voice in this particular performance as "powerfull"... anyway, that's just my opinion
Me too!!
I had never heard her sing before, what a beautiful voice, much deeper and more soulful than I would have imagined.
I rarely get chills listening to music. This woman is haunting.
I totally agree.
@@louisef.9137 Me three !
Some people are truly gifted and their light shines brightly! She is an amazing musician. Inspired me to pick my bass up again!
... ganz groß, danke dir ..
Jeff Beck realized talent. Tal is a phenom. Playing rthym oñ bass. Come on !
@@raymondchollet3199 You have to be in upper 00001 percent to be hired by Jeff !
This is what heavy airplay, top 40, pop music would sound like if we lived in a musically literate society.
Nice
And if it was 1996
@@davidgild3779 Rick was talking about 'musically literate', which is about quality and not about decades with their fashionable music styles...
Never confuse 'musical literacy' with 'musical creativity'
David Gild Society may or may not be musically literate in its choices and what it considers quality. Creativity is about the artist. So maybe the confusion is within yourself? By the way: there is no use in discussing the quality of this music. If you don't like it, keep away from it.
And here I thought all Tal could do was play bass guitar.
Superb all around musician.
Who is here after Bill Burr's podcast?

@@ashpollock9907 Just checkin' in on youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
Doh Jesus!
Yep

This young lady is overflowing with talent. Magical bassist, beautiful vocalist. The music is simply brilliant, soothing, mystifying.
Wow had NO idea she could sing!!! She is just living breathing music in human form. First saw her about ten years ago in that Crossroads festival video with Jeff Beck. I was blown away and now this???? Holy crap I'm getting this record. So great to hear someone actually sing again. Killer
Love it! Not the same old crap everyone else does. Finally something different. it has depth and multi levels.
Wow, what an amazing voice! I knew Tal was an awesome bass player from her time with Jeff Beck, but I had no idea she could sing like that. Count me in as a fan:)
A pure, untampered voice that sounds the same live as it does on the record. No computerized trickery here, what you hear is what you get.
It’s her band, she’s the bassist, and she plays quieter than everyone else. Unbelievably impressive and ironic, playing before the Who where all of us fans have been tortured for centuries by never hearing or seeing the Ox like he should be. Either way, the Who and Tal & Co. knock the socks off.
Wow, what a monster groove! Glad I discovered this amazing musician!!!
Accidentaly found this. She NEVER sang before???? why. What a voice. I have watched her bass playing for years but this, what a suprise.
The meandering style of the melody and harmonic structure of this song reminds me strongly of Jack Bruce. It’s great that Tal is being so fearless with her writing and musical vision !!!
That was my thought (composition reminded me of Jack Bruce) today listening to this for the first time. I found this track in an article about Tai on musicradar website, and she mentions some influences and Jack wasn't one of the ones mentioned but this really reminded me of Jack Bruce's composing.
yeah man...you nailed it.
She just needs a Clapton and a Baker.
Nobody can be compared with Jack Bruce. Tal is a bleak shadow
@@ivindrustad5181 Tal is actually a better bass player than Jack was, but there you go...Jack was a far better vocalist.
You blew my mind performing with Jeff Beck at Crossroads. Best wishes and blessings for your future.
Mark Crim her and. Beck were crazy! She was a baby! What a voice!
“First you master your instrument, then you master the music, then you forget all that and just play.”
-Charlie Parker
That’s Tal. She’s there.
She was Jeff Beck’s bass player for a time. Nice to see she is out doing it on her own she is really good.
She rocked with Beck!!!
That’s where I recognise her from.
I recognised her from rocking with Herbie Hancock... ua-cam.com/video/rgQegqw9IrI/v-deo.html
She worked with Jeff Beck and others. I saw her at one of his shows. That was stellar but no one heard her sing. Which is fitting for a Beck show.
Saw that...recognized the hair and came in for the tune. Very cool
Finally a young singer who doesn't use horrid pop vocal affectations. Long live rock!
she seems to be able to play the base pretty well too
Check out Samantha Fish as well.
She's 33 and been in the business for like 17 years.
I suppose "young" is relative but that's stretching it.
@@tmage23 No comment. Except this one of course.
I'll drink to that
You are the total package. To be quite honest, it was the first time I heard you sing outside of your Jeff Beck tours. Fantastic. I can't wait to see you live.
I guess Jeff and the Allman B. Band knew all this before we did. What a gift and talent. I am smitten with her music and appearance. Next paycheck I am buying her new CD. A must have... Talk you are a gift to humankind. Thank you so very much....!!! Love your work,
Mike Bunner
From the rainy hills of West Virginia.
Tal is just TOO amazing. Amazing bassist who is an amazing vocalist as well? Anytime she performs she should get PAID TWICE.
She is a very bad vocalist actually. I do not understand why does she think she can sing.
Blekfut- What, she’s no Eydie Gormé? Is that what you’re saying?
@@blekfut5763 Have you tried listening to her 2007 album, Transformation? Then, Listen to “Killing Me” after a good jaw-dropping at Opeth’s “Sorceress”?

She is so fantastic a musician and performer and completely beautiful,
timkjazz perfect comment! I totally agreed!
Amen
TRUTH
Yep, amazing and GORGEOUS
I love her hair. Jeff Beck said she is a genius
Such a great band! Each adding their unique talents to arrangements masterfully composed by Tal...Think the female version of Sting🎼🎵🎶👧
She sings much better than sting. More pleasant to the ears!
I just found Tal and this song 2 days ago. I have no idea how I’ve lived without it all this time. Simply incredible. It’s just the perfect tone. The music and her voice take me I don’t know where, but I know I need to be there!
I got paid to play the trombone once by a stranger so no emotional just wanted to not make me feel bad reasons for that in a orchestra type of band once. I change words to songs like Al Yankovic does and sing them while playing the guitar and sometimes lifting dumbbells and those videos are on this channel and hopefully, they make people laugh and/or feel good caused by whatever else is possible to make them feel that way. I love this song of yours!
Such a breath of fresh air in this polluted current state of music. I am forever a fan.
traycer2 wouldn’t really call this a breath of “fresh air.” This sounds like every song on rock stations or alternative stations. Look up “LP - Lost On You (Live)” if you want something original and fresh.
@@littlejimmyscumbag2551 oh shut the fuck up douche bag.
@@und3dzombie Yeah, beware the ripped jeans and Frappacinos in their hand as they come at you in full fury with a 1970's vintage backpack they found at a garage sale. So edgy.
No kidding... There's hope...
What a STUPID Comment, Then listen to different Music.
I always thought of her as a girl, but that voice - she’s a woman for sure.
that really put me back to the 90´s ,.. pearl Jam .. Grunge.. this band could start a revival of this genre by putting new pieces to it ...i mean ..i wont be mad if by accident this direction is going to be chosen by them. .
Wow...incredibly complex tune. Fabulous!
Great song. Getting Porcupine Tree/Steven Wilson vibes from this.
I'd love to see Gavin Harrison work with her or a Steve Wilson collaboration 😁
And a tad of Riverside. Another bass driven song writing project.
It's so nice to see real musicians. Thank you Tal for real music . I love you ! PEACE
“I want to be held, but not beholden.” Brilliant
That's the line that struck me , too...
She is a free spirit
P Brooks Great line!
I am impressed by how good the band sounds, and how well Tal sings. I thank you for such a beautiful moment.
I was already so impressed by her....now I'm blown away! What a great, unique voice and vocal style.
harmony sounds like a huge Cornell influence... chorus especially. Sounds great!
I LOVE THIS. Amazing new direction. I absolutely love Tal. Great to hear more singing with her vocals as well as her bass. ❤️
Babyfaced/Mature-voiced assassin. Great tune performed by great players. Go Tal!
Wow. Interesting, too. Highs like Phoebe Snow, lows like Carly Simon, and guitar like KT Tunstall, but with a beat all her own. This is new to me--I'm hooked.
Ooh... u r right about Carly Simon's...but I think a bit of Nina Simone in her voices too....
I discovered Tal and this song thanks to youtube algorithm. Little did I know I needed this song. It has sunk in deep and will never let go. I keep coming back to it. Now its on my permanent play list. Thank you Tal.
And there is this other woman she performed with ELP keyboards
And along Steve Hackett ?
Algoritme yo ass
Young in blood n bones, yet an old soul musically.
Awesome.
Who's listening to this during covid-19 isolation?
ME!
Me too!
Marky Marco Yep
Oj oj ojjj me too !!! [ ;
Can't I even watch a video without someone mentioning the fucking virus. give us a break.
I wish the bass was turned up a bit.
Ditto me too. Tal's a great bass player and it's nice to see a bass player fronting a band. Sadly the actual bass guitar is quite buried in the mix. Great performance all the same. (-:
sounds great with headphones [AKG K77 perception]
@@birdynumm1595 Agreed. Also listening on reasonable headphones (very old but good Kenwoods). The bass is quite there if you listen for it. I think it is at a reasonable and musical place in the mix.
Me too
Agreed the bass is a bit shy in the mix which is too bad as she is a great bass player
“I want to be held, but not beholden…” Great line. Fantastic song.
Yeah, what a cool line. She blows my mind!
how is she not a superstar!?
Thank god she isnt still !! Coz that wudve commercialized her and taken away all the organic aspects of her skills 🙏🏼
She's too good for that bubble gum pop crap.
For most people this kind of music is too intricate, that’s why she’s not a super star
Honestly I am glad I am not seeing Tal on an insurance commercial like.... HER.
Because she plays bass?
i always dig watching her play... she makes it look so effortless....
Wow thanks Bill Burr for the podcast and thank you for your refreshing music. Amazing voice!
Talented. Awesome. Beautiful. Great song with Great feel.
She takes me to another place.
I have nothing to say other than I have an absolutely MAD RESPECT for this woman! Talented is an understatement! ❤🤘😎
Tal.....ented
Just an enigma in today's flavor of music. Fantastic!
Hope springs eternal... Wow, what a tight band one and all. Stunning talent. They appear young and restless. Are they actually touching and playing those instruments? Are those tube filaments aglow? Maybe there is hope for us 60's WABX Detroit hippies after all before we die. Bless this band, and keep them safe from harms way and especially autotune.
I agree, and I'm an old ABXer too. Brilliant all-around artist!
She’s really a balanced artist. Just the right energy. The band also. Wow! That guitar tone!
Hmm, Tal opening for the Who? Based on raw talent and song writing alone, it should be the other way around, and I am a big Who fan, but Tal is simply amazing.
Man this song has so much fkg groove
I've watched this 20 times in the past 3 days. Tal is absolutely spellbinding from every aspect.
Have never heard Tal sing before. She is great!
Wow, a big fan of her base and now the maturity of her voice.....wow
Just saw you on Bill Burr - bought your album. You are great thanks for the original great music
Can't stop playing this...beautiful groove...you go girl...
Beautiful song
I've listened to this 50 times in a row today on a 4 hour trainride. As a musician myself its getting harder and harder to find appealing new music but this song floored me. The changes in the bridge-chorus are phenomenal!! And such a dope lyricist aswell? Gtfo, bravo
You read my mind, fully agree with every word you said
@@fardrum Amirite?
As for me, Im an ok bass player. I play by ear, I know that's the lazy way. But that's the way it turned out. And Im fine with that, I've been listening to TAL for about 5/7 yrs now, she nails it. And Her playing with such greats like Jeff beck & many others Is off the charts. Her talent speaks for itself, I truly believe she could play with just about anyone. It's always got my attention when she performs. Im just amazed to watch her anytime she plays. She's awesome, keep shredding TAL, It's beautiful to watch what do well.
@@robertlopez6895Umm -all musicians play by ear. Knowing what your doing and reading music is a bonus.
It is definitely getting harder and harder to find appealing music. But, every now and then, I stumble onto a gem.
I didn't know Tal could sing, she has a great voice.
Such a mature voice for someone who looks like a little girl. She never ages.
Wow! Didn't know that she's also a great singer and songwriter.
Wow sounds better live than the album. I really appreciate bands that sound like the album live. I'd pay to see her and her group live.
It's remarkable how she produces such a large, clear vocal sound while moving her lips so little.
effortless
That Fender Precision weighs a ton and it´s the most exhausting bass to play out there, and she handles it effortlessly, like a Hofner hollow body.
It's amazing how good Tal sings, really like her voice and love the song.
Certainly a thousand times better than what the "main stream" thinks is good.
She is as articulate vocally as she is musically, outstanding.
Tal, your voice range is much similiar to the female vocalist Roberta Flack, who did the staggering tune, killing me softly. Did you ever try to do that copy? I would love to hear that from you. I'm sure others would too. You'd be great at it.
Very perceptive !
Let her express her soul as she wishes. She's good at that ;)
Funny, I made the same comment a month ago!
Killing Me Softly is great. Give "Compared To What" a listen.
Wow. I didn't know that she has her own band, AND Can Sing! Superb. Thanks for posting this excellent performance.
Holy shit Tal, I had no idea your voice was so expressive. Killer tune!
Truly some of the best stuff I've heard in quite a while!
Not just another pretty face !! She’s a real talent with a wonderful voice !!
I’m truly surprised she didn’t sing when she played with Jeff Beck !!
Her song’s melody is so soundgarden - ish.
You're right. I couldn't nail what was it that this teminded me of.
I thought the same the first time I heard it, Chris Cornell's tone/note choices in Soundgarden or Audioslave!
Sophisticated music. So awesome. My goodness what an artist and musician she is
Your voice is beautifully haunting in this Tal, I really like your approach to song writing. You're very talented, and you're doing Australia proud, amazing woman.
She played this on Roastmaster Gen. Jeff Ross’ podcast which just her singing and her bass and it was magical.
Tal...AWESOME. But turn the bass up girl - I cant hear your masterful work.
Just a tiny bit of top-end on her sound could probably bring up the attack and solve that but lots of bassists seem to like it completely muffled ...as if they want to 'hide' somehow, who knows why.
Put your head Phones On ... I can hear her !!
Sounds pretty loud to me on studio monitors!
I think within the context, the bass is mixed just right. The focus is on her voice
if you're not using headphones or you're listening to this on stereo monitors. and you're only trying to hear out of your one little speaker on your phone you're not going to hear the bass.. that's it ain't going to sound very good I was surprised
It's actually difficult to think of a better bass player that's still alive... she is that good.. and in all genres too
try les claypool
Or Victor Wooten. Or Geddy Lee. Or John Myung. Tal is great, but she is absolutely not without competition.
I'm spotting alice in chains and Bjork influences here maybe
Fuck yeah!! I love her style of writing. I'm not educated enough to know exactly why but I know I dig it.
Progressions are different than "normal", key changes are unexpected the dissonance is heavy. Also, the rhythm section makes up the body of the music and the clear clean vocals wander around freely.
It sounds to me a lot like what UK (Wetton, Bruford, Holdsworth, Jobson) were trying to do but never really succeeded at in my view. Which, holy cow that's amazing!
This song... Addictive !! Beautifully written & executed by all. Beautiful & haunting lyrics by a Beautiful person! [ DC ]
Keeping doing more of this stuff Tal. The whole album is definitely one of my new favourites. Please tour UK!
This song is a delight to the senses. Love the time signatures, interplay and transients. The lyrics connect well with the melody too (nice lyrics!). Bravo!
Wow - that's amazing music. Original but also kind of a fusion of progressive, some jazz and rock elements.
She is a true original talent. Love seeing her playing a P-Bass.
P-Basses may have the best bass voice ever! Smooth and deep...
First thing I noticed, she wasnt on a jazz bass.
Ditto! :)
Tone for days! Each instrument sounds incredible! Absolutely love this! Every bit of it!
WHERE DID THAT VOICE COME FROM ??!!!!!! I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT !!!
agreed.
finally ... we all found her great tunes..... what a great thing at this time !
This is wonderful. You're fantastic. The rhythm of the singing vs the bass does not sound like it would be easy. I'm so glad I randomly ran into you!
I'm a bass player, and I have to sing occasionally and you are so correct. It has to get ingrained before it looks as easy as Tal makes it look!
I've never heard anyone that was perfectly in tune with everything before.
She's the bass player that I love the most, and the way she sings and writes music made me literally fall in love with her artistry
Try Jacko pastorius
