Why people go to a show to see an amazing musician and then think the rest of the people came there to listen to them whistle and shout is beyond me. Tal is a bass player that lays it all out there, pay attention.
Last time I checked, people are allowed to cheer! WTF is your problem????
@@MrMadBaggins "allowed" and "appropriate" are not always the same thing. If you listen to the Allman Brothers early recordings, audiences were much more polite, especially when they realized they were witnessing a legendary band in the making. Of course, there is the immortal "play all night" shout on "At The Fillmore" but that was a rare exception, and immortal in its own right. Since then, concert goers have become more self-indulgent at live shows, making more and more noise during performances under the guise of "audience appreciation" or exuberance. But if you ask the artists - not the modern pop performers, but real artists - I'm pretty sure most of them would prefer that audiences who paid good money to see acts live would be more about that performance and less about hearing themselves. As a performing artist myself, I loved the Nashville audiences, which for the most part listen politely and truly appreciate the artist. There's nothing wrong with Willie's comment.
@@richardbrucemusic Well, the Allman Brothers completely suck so not a good argument here.
@@MrMadBaggins back under your bridge, troll. You'd be the only one pissing on ABB.
If you think musicians don't like it when people get excited and hoot and holler you're not in tune with reality. If you don't like a crowd that's fine. Just buy the album and jam out at home. Leave the concerts to live music fans.
She’s fantastic playing, the legendary all man brothers band.❤😊
Correction,Allman brothers band.
She can play with the greatest ❤😊
It's a privilege to listen to awesome musicians. Anytime. Anyplace. Any era. Any decade. Any century. This was so tastefully done, it is an absolute tribute to the Allman legacy. Thank you so much for this beautiful performance.
I am amazed by this young ladies skill & talent. I must go and watch her perform. I must!!!!!! Then at 3:50 somrthing she busts loose. Whipping Post is a great song. One of the Allman Brothers best! Jeff knew. Along with many others................... Get it Tal................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bravo you ALL.....
She is AMAZING, AMAZING!!!
..they teached their children well, my favourite Band since I've been 10 years old..
Always great to see Tal. 😁🍺👍❤
Watching Tal, she brought them together. She is an amazing musician, not just a great bass player, she is a great musician and brings out the others in them. Some day I hope to jam!
This here is outstanding! What a post. And... what a "Whipping Post."
Freaking awesome! ♥️☮️🕊
Arguably one of the top ten bass players on Earth.
Top 10,000 maybe
@user-io3sh7vx6y
Well, 10 is in that figure 😊
I never imagined Tal would make such a great dominatrix.
They still have it!!! A great song!!!!!!!!!!!!........... Thank you ALL...........
Jimmy is killing it!
Thanks enjoying bass solo
You go girl
Pity the audience were only interested in the sound of their own voices instead of listening to Tal's lead in.
The audience: always a good reason to avoid going to concerts.
I enjoy watching the crowd enjoy the time.
@@davidnewland2461 If you enjoy people disturbing other people, if you enjoy music you can't hear because of people being noisy... have fun.
Agreed! The expense is not worth the experience. I'd rather pay the money for a live DVD than a two-three hour concert full of second-hand smoke and crowds who feel the need to stand instead of sit in the seats!
@@davidnewland2461 I enjoy the crowd SOMETIMES --- sometimes they are a minus, sometimes they are a plus -- here's an interesting example that is ultimately a plus -- unless you came to hear Noel Gallagher sing -- ua-cam.com/video/aFNHrrYdbf4/v-deo.html
Inve seen the allamans and Greg allman. Good jams they got that heart
Go Tal Fab work X
great video, thanks for this! Sucks the crowd was disrespectful of Tals solo!
you are right.....terrible crowd
what sucks is this band
@@drtimoshea4087 yeah i know chatter through a virtuoso bass player's solo with generational talent, good talk you stay classy♥
@@drtimoshea4087 BAHAHA!! not much of a solo,, that sounds like me practicing when I was 14
and got my first octave pedal.🤣 For as good as she supposed to be, that was LAME AF Tal
So everyone in the crowd is supposed to have a testosterone level as low as low as yours?? Fat chance....
WOW...
Que falta de respecto hacia ella. amazing Tal
such a great song. I know this one from Zappa. A fan once screamed at Zappa during a concert: play Whipping Post. Zappa replied: hum me a few bars. Since then it was a concert favorite, and his band brought it to the extremes. I wonder if his performances influenced the original members/versions since then.
wowie
Wish I was there
Not really that bad ,IT'S WHAT DRUNKS DO !!!! SELL ALCOHOL AND NOT GRASS GETS YOU ROWDY.
Tal is a great bass player. I would hardly call this a solo. I saw her with Jeff Beck. Unbelievable. Great that Duane is playing a lot of his dad's solo from the Fillmore album. He's a tasteful guitarist.
It was a solo by every definition ha ha
John Entwhistle would chuckle.
I like to call it "3 minutes of playing by yourself" or a "lead break"
Major disappointment that I didn't know about this concert just 1.5 hours from me. I've been wanting to see Tal ever since seeing the video of her playing at Crossroads with Jeff Beck. I was fortunate to see Jeff a few years ago in Charlotte NC. Blew me away.
I've not heard of Tal before, but I'm liking her style. This is my all-time favorite Allman Brothers song, next to Midnight Rider. Did it justice!! Phenomenal!!
Listen to the stuff she has done with Jeff Beck. Outstanding...
In my more than 50 yrs listening to ABB, this may be the best version of WP that I’ve heard. Killing it!
Musical innovation is her talent watch her fingers dance
Watching Tal reminds me of Jaco.
you've got to be kidding - unless you found footage of him sleeping, maybe?
you lost yer mind fred
Sober up......
Same here!
@@jomamma1750 I would suggest you lay off the moonshine for a while, my friend, because it has apparently hampered your ability to recognize the heavy Joco influence on that young lady’s performance.
In the Zone : )
These folks down South are restless & loud!! At 2:51 Tal had to sussh them. Let the LADY play! Finally ar 3:53 Tal lets it rip. That little bass rif leads into a great song!!
there's a fire to any of Zappa's performances of this song that's totally lacking in any other attempts by anyone, including the Allmans'
No. Zappas version is a joke
Which I saw live in Atlanta, at the FOX, holy chit~!~
a brilliant joke@@J.C...
JD Simo, who I think was the opener on this tour playing the first guitar solo (through Johnny Stachela's rig I guess, since I don't see Stachela on stage)
Killer new tone for playing with ABE
Horrible the crowd ...
Jeez audience needs to zip it
Reminding me of hawkwind
Well she was in South Carolina.
You always gotta divide by southern.
Well, who would ever think that we'd see a Fender Telecaster being played in an Allmans-related gig? And played like THAT by JD Sumo!!! Talk about taking things to a whole other level. And notice how Tal moves in during that solo and responds to Sumo's playing by adding fuel to his fretwork flames. She would do that also with Jeff Beck - she really knows when, where and how to dig in and inspire the other player.
Also, I wasn't a fan of Jimmy Hall guesting with Jeff Beck - that's not what I wanted to hear from Jeff. True, he was great in Wet Willie. And he is also great here. He and Tal really bring outstanding talent to the stage.
As for Tal's 'solo'. Well, I see it as a couple minutes of noodling; she's got something happening in her head and she's playing to that. True, it doesn't translate well without us knowing the context. Still, at that point in the set it is a bit of a break from the sonic intensity of the rest of the show, where she really keeping matters moving, which is what Berry Oakley also did. Her sound during it at times reminds me of David Freiberg's growling bass on portions of Quicksilver Messenger Service's 'Happy Trails' live album. She is a real asset in any band, whether Herbie Hancock, the Allman Bros. Band, Jeff Beck or Allman Betts Family Revival.
There are videos of Dicky playing a Strat out there. Jessica, I think maybe.
@@jhnstn1 Yes, a 'burst maple neck. guitar.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/dickey-betts@1400x1050-800x600.jpg
I think I see a humbucker in the neck position on that Tele, so it would have some Gibson qualities to it.
This comment section is toxic AF...good performance. Wish I was there
Grande grande Tal.il bubblico doveva tacere ascoltare in assoluto silenzio mancanza di rispetto per una grandissima artista
Personnel? Do love that Fillmore era light show of immiscable oils....
It may be the subtleties are lost on the shouters.
that there be only 172 comments posted prior to mine ...is a clear statement...of something is wrong. this solo is the ARTE SOLO of all times
Why do folks think just because they purchased a ticket they are part of the show? Like someone heckling a comic. OR this crowd!????!!!!!! Then at 3:50 something Tal turns it loose. I mean Damn girl that was good.. Talent deluxe!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who played the Gold Top and the solo at 10 min ...?
yeah!!! Weehaaa!! Im a dummmfukk!!!
Tal is too much talented to play with this band.
My thoughts exactly.
her's is esoteric !
@@JazzRockFusionSynthesizerMusic she is sweet but oblique incarnation and fire !! amazing
Jimmy Hall
who is the guy on right
JD Simo. He was on fire!
listen to berry oakleys silo on the intro to mountain jam and compare. this is tedious.
the big bass solo is off putting.......
Il comportamento del pubblico è stato a dir poco vergognoso, Zorn o Jarrett avrebbero smesso di suonare. Grande Tal!
I saw the Allman Bros.family bands so many time at the Beacon Theater in NYC before Gregg died that I can’t even listen to this, even though Tal was playing with them. Without Gregg it just isn’t there anymore. It sounds like a rather low energy performance by a tribute band. Dwayne and Gregg would have loved Tal but even she can’t save this performance. The Fillmore light show brings that place back to memory. I’ll stick with the discography and my headphones.
Agreed. Saw Tal and Jimmy with Beck, great stuff. This really is not first rate
This would have been amazing if not for the people
She sounds influenced by Alphonso Johnson.
MAN PEOPLE CAN BE REALLY DISRESPECTFUL IN THESE COMMENTS. TAL HAS SO MUCH TALENT FOR BEING AS YOUNG AS SHE IS. I MEAN CAN ANY OF THESE PEOPLE WRITING NEGATIVE THINGS HERE SAY, THAT THEY'VE TOURED WITH JEFF BECK OR OPENED FOR THE WHO? NAH, DON'T THINK SO.
I WILL ADMIT THAT THE PERFORMANCE SOUNDED TO ME LIKE ANY OTHER BAND THAT HAS COVERED THE ALLMAN'S THAT I'VE PLAYED WITH AT ANY SHOW WHEREVER . ALSO HER BASS SOLO WAS COOL BUT WHAT I'VE FOUND TO BE TRUE WHEN PLAYING SHOWS, YOU HAVE TO KINDA FEEL OUT YOUR AUDIENCE AT THAT PARTICULAR VENUE & PLAY WHAT YOU THINK FITS THAT CROWD. YOU KNOW? ON STAGE YOU CAN READ THE CROWDS VIBE. HER SOLO JUST WASN'T THE RIGHT ONE AT THAT TIME THATS ALL.
IF YOUVE NEVER SEEN HER PLAY BEFORE JUST WATCH JEFF BECK LIVE AT RONNIE SCOTT'S. WATCH THE WHOLE SHOW & THEN TRY TO SAY THAT SHE HAS NO TALENT. IF YOU STILL DO " YOUR A FREAKIN LIAR MAN" THAT GIRL KILLS IT!!! I SURE WISH I HAD HER IN MY BAND ON BASS! DAMN..... HOPEFULLY SHE CAN GET INTO A BAND WHERE THE OTHERS HAVE EQUAL TALENT AS HER IN THE FUTURE. SHE DESERVES IT. 🤟🤟🤟🤟
I saw the ABB twice in the seventies. These people are obviously excellent musicians .
The sound is similar but not as fluid.
IMO , the bass solo should have been reserved for over in the middle of the song . Also, her bass seemed to be rattling a lot. I liked the bass she previously used better than this one .
Irregardless, it’s a marvelous thing that they are keeping the sound living. Cheers!!
What the hell are all those goofs whistling, whooping and yee-hawing about while she diddles around on the base?
Absolutely! She’s not really doing anything that great… it was fairly go nowhere and boring actually. I think those guy’s whoooping and hollering were just trying a little too hard to prove to Tal that they’re heterosexual.
I saw Mike Brecker at Billboard inLos Angeles. It was the rudest, most oblivious to listening crowd I ever say. I was so embarrassed by it. This crown tops it. Unbelievable how disrespectful they are.
How is cheering disrespectful?
When it’s yelling and interfering with someone’s performance.
I like the original version much better. Not saying this was bad or anything but you can't improve on perfection.
Song starts at 3:55
Tal is way too good for these guys. Sorry they may be the sons of legends but they are mediocre.
Boring bass 'solo'. She has done such amazing solos elsewhere.. Beautifully played bass part on the tune. Loved the old school guitar solos
although agree with general consensus of Tal's Intro being too long and better suited to the jazz crowd who appreciate the subtleties, i felt like the band and lead singer did a respectable performance otherwise on this classic Allman Brothers song.
Jimmy Hall on lead vocals, from Wet Willie.
I dunno, I thought it was a bit self-indulgent meself...
P
Do these people not know that they are NOT part of the act???
pathetic and disrespectful to duane & co. too many drugs, not enough talent up there . blasphemous - it's not a rock number
yep, starting w/ that over rated bassist......
And who are you disturbing her psche during a solo intro to a song. Good going guys. Your one moment of insensitivty to ruin a what could have buiilt into a really buliding solo. Glad she started. Hope they got their money's worth.
longest drawn out ending ever
She’s no Jaco 🙄 that’s for sure but then again who is … 😴
Completely different styles. I've seen them both. Saw Jaco with Weather Report and Word of Mouth. Saw Tal with Jeff Beck. Great seeing her playing this music.
The singer is terrible. Listen to another 100 takes of this legendary song by Greg and you might come close!
Tal can be great, but she seems to be phoning it in here. Maybe she's doing something tonally interesting that jazzers can appreciate, but I don't blame the crowd for being bored. The vocalist is great. But the guitars and the band in general sound unrehearsed. You don't have to say it's great just because you love Tal (and who doesn't??). Is this early in the tour? Is this a song they do often? So many questions. But the solo's kinda boring and the song isn't cooking.
Yeah, pretty aimless, not something she did when playing with Beck who wouldn't have tolerated it!
lose the octave pedal Tal .
Try standing up there when NO ONE is whistling and shouting.
It’s lonely!
Difference between merikan and european audiences, the whooping, hollering, and disrespectful animal noises whilst an artiste is playing. Completely spoils it for anyone wanting to listen to the music.
Saw nothing special in this performance. Especially the intro which sucked.
Tal's opening solo was boring, the lightshow sucked.
Im sorry, I wasnt impressed. Someone needs to play Fillmore for her. The intro was way too long. JUst because you CAN do something, doesnt mean YOU SHOULD.
Well, that was lame.
yawn
She is just Annoying with limited talent while Screwing Jeff Beck. Telling it like it really was
Absolutely… Tal’s a great player! But sometimes I strongly doubt her sincerity.
Better sounding bands down at the local corner bar. Audience completely justified in booing after being bored for 15 minutes.
In person (and when I watch the video) the solos on “Whipping Post” check all the right boxes for me. It was a fun night and I came away satisfied and willing to go see them again. I see hundreds of shows every year and this was show was worth every dime.
Not good at all
Lousy audience. That's southern hospitality.
HUH?
Cell phone garbage. Tal deserves better. Leave video to the pros.
