    I see an idea,,,, turn a steel spacer ring on the lathe to go in the spindle to act as a bearing stop. Assuming all the spindles are cut to the same depth. Then it's just drive the bearing in till it stops on the "bearing stop/spacer". Harder to screw up for the Matts in the world LMAO.

      John Padilla it takes quite a bit of effort to tap the bearing in it's a super tight fit. It's not going to move from normal wear and tear of four wheeling. Taking the bearing out is a lot of work traditionally there in there good

    Greetings from
    NW South Carolina!
    I am rebuilding the front end of my 1983 K5 Blazer. Because the spindle bearing looked like it was in good shape, I was going to to leave it. But when I put the channel seal up against it, it is below the surface of where the beveled washer will rest on (maybe 1-1.5mm below). Is there an easy way to pull the bearing up? I guess at that point, I might as well replace it. But how do you get it out to begin with? I think it would be a bear to hammer it out with a chisel or punch from the other side.
    Thanks for a great video.

    PLEASE do more vids like this (tips/tricks for ease or longevity) I personally would like to know the deal on crush sleeve eliminator kit installs, they worth it?

    • @jeremyrose7541
      @jeremyrose7541 6 років тому

      WoOsKii 1 The reason they are worth it is if you break a yoke you can just torque a new one on. And you don't have to worry about messing up your bearing preload. But they're very sensitive to set up so don't think you're going to do it very quick. The last when I did came down to the .001

    • @Wooskii1
      @Wooskii1 6 років тому

      +Bleepin Rose Thanks for the reply! somehow I missed it. Would you recommend using the crush eliminator kit? I need to do my first ever regear soon... I do understand the benefits (the crush sleeve can also further crush under heavy load, esp. on hills, and cause issues) but some kits have mixed reviews (bad spacer/missing or soft shims) Is it worth the extra set up time/effort for ease of future maintenance and the added durability? (I have a D30 + 8.25 btw) thanks again!

    • @jeremyrose7541
      @jeremyrose7541 6 років тому

      I say that they are worth it! Just can be real finicky to set up! The bearing preload is very sensitive! The last one we did we'd probably took it apart 20 times to get it right!

    • @Wooskii1
      @Wooskii1 6 років тому +1

      +Bleepin Rose Ok, you seem really knowledgeable so I'm gonna take ur advise, and if I can't get it(20 TIMES! = >40 for me lol), I can just use the crush. the kit I want is only $30, so definitely worth a shot. Also I didn't even realize the significance of being able to pull your pinion until you mentioned it! thanks again, and keep dropping that knowledge!
