- While overhauling my front brakes I found a couple of spindle flange bolts that had snapped off. Not sure when or where it happened but figured now would be a good time to replace them all. The only one that snapped off and couldn't be replaced with a spicer bolt without removing the lower ball joint was the very bottom bolt so I replaced it with a regular grade 8 bolt and nut with some red loctite. It's worth noting that for this k15 / dana 44 axle the oem spindle flange bolts and nuts are made by spicer and are 3/8 24 (fine thread) x 1 1/2" long. While I was at it,now also seemed to be a good opportunity to clean the spindle, needle bearings, replace the seals and make a movie lol.
Thank you for this video! I'm in the middle of swapping a D44/14b combo with a rear disc conversion into my '83 K10 (or rather soon-to-be-K20) and forgot to take pictures of what it looked like on disassembly. You saved me so much hassle!
Great video ...the one thing I would like to add is that small grooved spindle seal needs to be just slightly protruding from the spindle face to properly seal against the plastic washer .
If that small spindle seal sits just flush or in towards the inner spindle ...the spindle bearing will have to be adjusted outward with a pilot bearing puller .
Thank you for making this. Even the manuals don't do a good job of helping so this was a Godsend!
Thank you for making this. Same concept on my 1979 Bronco. I was having difficulties finding a video that explained this. This is my first time doing this so this video was very handy 😎👍
I took my K20 apart and didn’t document the seals, so thank you! I needed this video!
I found this too late, but you describe what I was looking for as I just did the same job on my 93 F150 they used the dana 44 as well
Thank you for the video. 1985 jimmy [ blazer ] same concept
Thanks man this was a big help!
thank goodness for this!
Thanks
